Machinist PvP Build Guide

Introduction

The Machinist is Lost Ark's mech based class that has the ability to control a Drone and power up with Sync Mode. Knowing how to properly use his Drone and Syn will allow the Machinist to take full control of the battlegrounds.

Although powerful, the class can be quite tricky to master as there is a lot going on when playing this class. Being able to properly control the Drone is key to becoming a good Machinist. The Drone holds a lot of key abilities that will allow the Machinist to gain control of the field. Sync Mode is another layer of complexity that will also help in this effort. If you are looking for a challenging class that controls two characters at once, check out the Machinist!

This article assumes you have a Character with a minimum level of 26 before transitioning to it. Check out the Machinist Leveling and 1-50 Leveling guides to reach Level 26.

Check out the General PvP Guide for a better understanding of the arena systems in place.

Core Skills

  • Mobile Shot is your main mobility skill/catch skill. The first combo is a roll, the 2nd is a catching tool that can lead to one of your combos and the 3rd is another roll. Use this to get around the map/initiate combos.
  • High Voltage Bullet one of your main CC abilities. Main combo starters.
  • Avalanche useful skill for short mobility and grants a small frame of Push Immunity when dashing with it. Can also be used to extend combos when needed.
  • Command: Active Pulse is a great skill that does a lot. Use it to shield your allies/yourself, Knock Down enemies around the drone, and for any form of peels. This skill has a slight delay before the Knock Down. Commanding your drone over enemies is a nice way to pressure them with this skill + Command: Flare Beam.
  • Command: Flare Beam is a great CC skill that can link into one of your combos as well as pressure enemies with the drone. It does good damage for how fast the skill is.
  • Command: Baby Drones one of your main damage skills. Can be used for peels if the Knock Down is needed.
  • Fiery Escape is a great skill for mobility. It can also be used to catch enemies if needed.
  • Energy Buster another damage skill. Don't be afraid to use this without any CC, as the skill shoots fast and is pretty instant off screen.

Sync Mode

  • Comet Strike is your quick dash skill that can be used to link skills.
  • Slugshot skill used for quick damage.
  • Laser Blade great skill for catch. Using it after your Spacebar or Comet Strike will allow you to extend the animation of the skill to deal more damage.
  • Echelon Beam is one of your main damaging skills in this mode. Using it after Spacebar or Comet Strike will make the laser go farther.
  • Surge Blow is a great catch skill used to Knock Down enemies.
  • Crimson Breaker is another great skill used for catching enemies and doing damage.

Drone Commanding

  • Use your left shift (default) to move your Drone around.
  • Press x (default) to return the drone to you.
  • Get used to how drone skills work in conjunction with other skills/distance. If you are too far or command skills too far, the skill will be canceled. Using your purple skills will also cause some skill cancels if used during the startup of drone skills.
  • Aside from drone skills, the drone is great at creating space and pressure when hovering over enemies.

Missle Build

Alternatives

  • Fiery Escape can be dropped to 7 to with High Flight or Long Flight to include in Backflip Strike over Avalanche. This serves as an alternative to one of your survival skills.
  • Command: Active Pulse can be replaced with Command: Raid Missile. You can take Guided Missile on it, but it's up to you. Command: Carpet can also be used.
  • Strategic Fire could be taken over Avalanche for a skill with Paraylysis Immunity with a bit of catch potential on it.

Basic Combo #1

  1. Catch with Command: Flare Beam.
  2. Follow with Energy Buster from afar.

Basic Combo #2

  1. Catch with High Voltage Bullet.
  2. Follow with Command: Baby Drones.
  3. Finish with Energy Buster or Command: Final Explosion as they are falling from the explosives.

Note: If you use Energy Buster too fast before Command: Baby Drones goes off, you will cancel the drone skill.

Gameplay

  • Learning skill ranges/general Drone control is important in being a good Machinist.
  • Just moving the Drone over enemies can exert a lot of pressure to take map space. Be sure to abuse it to it's fullest!
  • Generally, you'll be trying to catch opponents with either Mobile Shot and Command: Flare Beam.
  • Command: Active Pulse can also be used as a general catch, but can also be used as a peeling tool/shielding tool for yourself or allies.
  • Remember that transforming into Sync and going out of Syn form will grant you 2 Full Immunities.
  • You have a lot of mobility tools, use them to reposition, escape, or make space for your team when needed.

Gameplay

GvG is more chaotic than Arena battles, so you rarely have the opportunity to do long combos. This mode is more about zoning/interrupting objectives and assisting allies. Do your best to coordinate with your team and stick together. Refer to 3v3 section for more gameplay tips.

Please refer to the GvG Islands and GvG Builds Guide for more information!

Heavy Armor Equipment
Spirit Absorption
Judgment

There are no actual combos listed here compare to the other PvP builds because the build is built around zoning/interrupting objectives and mostly assisting allies. Since there will be more than 8 enemies on the field, it'll be really hard to pull off a long combo with many spells and attacks being unleash on the field.

Basically, use the skills base on the situations. Holy Land, can be use for annoying enemies on the objectives as it can prevent enemies from trying to capture the objectives by interrupting the capturing animation from the damage ticks that the ground effect does, and it helps in mass fights were the enemies can't stand on top of your allies for more than 3 ticks before they get stun by the skill.

GvG can be a lot more chaotic than Arenas as theres more than 3 opponents rushing into the fight, Paladin's role usually be sticking close to the backlines or allies immobile range classes to assist them if they get group on, while also play around from their range since the build is kitted with more range skills than Arena builds.

GvG Engraving

Priority

  • Heavy Armor Equipment-engraving] level 3 increases all defense for higher survivability. Moreover, armor shredding debuffs doesn't affect the bonus defense increase effect from the engraving.
  • Spirit Absorption increases attack speed and movement speed by a significant amount at level3 engraving effect which will help with positioning and getting skills cast out quicker.
  • Judgment level 1 increases duration of Sacred Executioner by 100% to 40 seconds. Additionally increases sword skills damage and identity gauge gain rate.

Additional Choices

  • Cursed Doll since Cursed Doll doesn't affect a player character, this is the next best engraving for damage increase in general. Furthermore, Island PvP disables consumables so the penalty isn't too penalizing and GvGs consumables are very limited as well which eventually player will run out consumables quick as well.
  • Divine Protection, Fortitude and Strong Will these are the engravings to stack for maximum defenses.
  • Raid Captain is also another good damage engraving option for Island PvP and GvGs since players will be stacking high Swiftness stats for having fast animation casting speed and general movespeed as well as more cooldown reductions then stacking with Spirit Absorption will max out 140% movesment speed cap which will grant the max 18% damage increase from Raid Captain.
  • Champion's Tenacity Island PvP with disabled consumables and the very limited amount of consumables in GvGs means a lot of the time the player spent being damaged and unable to heal up, so this engraving will help give some boost to damage while the player is below 50% health pool.
  • Shield Piercing self-explanatory; usually well coordinated guilds will stack lots of classes that has team shield or personal shields, this engraving will help a little from shield stack pushes.
