Introduction
The Gunlancer is one of Lost Ark's premier tanks introduced in the starting roster of the game. Not only can he protect himself, but he can also provide a plethora of support to his teammates. His unique space bar dodge, Back Step, is a defensive tool, unlike other classes.
In PvP, the Gunlancer stays true to his description, a big tanky class. His greatest strengths lie in his supportive kit. Don't let his looks fool you though, as he can also dish out respectable amounts of damage as well. Be prepared to be everyone's best friend if you play this class well.
This article assumes you have a Character with a minimum level of 26 before transitioning to it. Check out the Gunlancer Leveling and 1-50 Leveling guides to reach Level 26.

Core Skills
- Dash Upper Fire is a great skill for disrupting opponents and Knocking Up opponents. It has great range and a fast animation, so it's quite hard to actually react to it.
- Counter Gunlance provides Full Immunity during the animation of the skill to counter opponents (blocks damage as well).
- Surge Cannon is your main damage skill best paired with Defensive Stance.
- Gunlance Shot is another damaging skill with good a nice Knock Up and Push Immunity.
- Bash is a close range stun that also shreds opponent's armor. Don't be afraid to use this skill just for the damage.
- Hook Chain is a long range pull to set up combos and displace opponents. This skill only effects opponents without Paralysis Immunity.
- Shield Charge is a great mobility skill and displacement tool. You can cancel the skill early for the Knock Up(similar to Dash Upper Fire). You can also toggle on Defensive Stance before using the skill for a protected charge.
- Nellasia's Energy is a great team support skill providing damage mitigation and a large shield to teammates near you. Make sure you are safe or have Defensive Stance before casting, as this skill can be interrupted during the animation.
- Defensive Stance is the first Identity skill for this class. You can toggle it off and on whenever you please as long as you have gauge for it. Toggle it on before using unprotected skills like Surge Cannon and Nellasia's Energy. Make sure to toggle it back off this stance on it off to prevent draining it.
- Battlefield Shield is the second Identity skill for this class. You won't be using this much as it's very situational and depletes all your gauge that could be used for Defensive Stance. Only use this for last-minute saves or mobility.

- Armor Destruction can be used on Bash.
- Bombardment Spear can be used on Counter Gunlance for a Knock Down.
- Lance of Judgment can be used over Guardian's Protection if you want more DPS.
Basic Combo #1
- Hook Chain into Bash
- Follow with Surge Cannon or Gunlance Shot (toggle on Defensive Stance to prevent interruption).
Basic Combo #2
- Lift opponents up with Shield Charge.
- Stun them on the way down with Bash. You might have to walk forward a bit if they are too far.
- Finish with a damaging skill.
Basic Combo #3
- Lift opponents up with Shield Charge.
- Gunlance Shot while midair.
Gameplay
- Stick with your team and try to hold a front line for them. You are a tanky disrupter with all the Crowd Controls in your kit.
- Gunlancer has a lot of peeling tools at his disposal like Dash Upper Fire, Gunlance Shot, Hook Chain, Bash and Shield Charge.
- Look to engage with Hook Chain to start the Basic Combo.
- Pay attention to your teammates. Nellasia's Energy and Guardian's Protection are powerful mitigation spells for your team.
- Abuse your Push Immunity skills such as your Back Step, Defensive Stance, Gunlance Shot and Guardian's Protection. When combined with their innate tankiness and Nellasia's Energy, a well-played Gunlancer is a challenge to kill.
- Proper timing for Back Step is important to avoid Crowd Controls.

- Guardian's Thunderbolt is an option for more Push Immunity

- Catch with Hook Chain.
- Follow with Rising Gunlance or Dash Upper Fire. Note that you can incorporate some Basic Attacks (LMB) before going for Dash Upper Fire.
- Finish with Shield Shock.
Basic Combo #2
- Landing a Hard Crowd Control like Bash can lead to Lance of Judgment.
Gameplay
- In the 1v1, focused on catching your opponent with Dash Upper Fire, Leap Attack, Shield Charge or Hook Chain, so you can start the Basic Combo. You need to deal damage for Identity gauge to sustain your shield.
- Remember to abuse your Push Immunity skills like Gunlance Shot, Counter Gunlance, Back Step and Defensive Stance.
- Don't be afraid to use Guardian's Protection early for map control.
Gameplay
GvG is more chaotic than Arena battles, so you rarely have the opportunity to do long combos. This mode is more about zoning/interrupting objectives and assisting allies. Do your best to coordinate with your team and stick together. Refer to 3v3 section for more gameplay tips.
