Identity & Gameplay
Phantom Beast Awakening gameplay revolves around quickly entering the Phantom Beast Awakening state and using your hard-hitting skills. Using your Phantom Beast Spirit stacks to reduce your cooldowns allows you to use multiple sets of skills within one activation.
This build also converts some Fox and Bear skills into Phantom Beast skills, which, instead of transforming you into their respective forms, summon a spirit of said animal during the attack.
Activating her identity grants you the following:
- 20% Move speed
- 20% Attack speed
Additionally, you passively generate Phantom Beast Spirit stacks, which provide:
- 5% Cooldown Reduction per stack
- 2% Mana recovery per stack
Demonic Impulse Identity

Rotation
Phantom Beast Energy generation
- While you passively generate Phantom Beast Energy, you use these skills to fill the gauge faster. Use all charges to reach full gauge.
Damage Rotation
There is no particular order for those skills, prioritize landing them quickly back to back so you can fit three cycles per rotation.
- You have two optimal ways of utilizing your Phantom Beast Spirit stacks to reduce the cooldowns of these skills:
- Utilizing your Phantom Beast Awakening skill immediately after using your damage skills. This will leave them on cooldown for a bit but allow you to use 3 rotations per cycle, evenly spaced out.
- Use your skills twice before utilizing your Phantom Beast Awakening skill, causing the 2nd and 3rd cycles to be packed together for increased burst damage, but leaving a huge gap in-between.
- You should decide which one to use depending on the flow of the fight.
- Sometimes casting Fox Leap before Phantom Beast Awakening skill will result in missing your 3rd cycle if, for some reason, your rotation got interrupted or if you have low cooldown gems. You can instead use Phantom Beast Awakening skill after the main 4 skills, since Fox Leap damage contribution is relatively low.
- You can manually cancel your Phantom Beast Awakening state at any time by pressing X, this is helpful if the boss is about to perform a lengthy attack, as it allows you to passively generate Phantom Beast Energy during the downtime.
- Remember to apply your synergy constantly with Vulpine Velocity
Gems
Gems are another significant aspect of your build, as they directly impact the damage and cooldowns of your skills. You can equip up to 11 gems at a time. Here are the ones you should focus on to maximize this build's potential, listed according to their priority.
Damage Gems
- Ursine Windup
- Boulder Bear
- Fox Flame
- Swish Bear
- Fox Leap
Cooldown Gems
- Ursine Windup
- Boulder Bear
- Fox Flame
- Swish Bear
- Fox Leap
- Vulpine Velocity
Engravings
Engravings are a core part of your build. You can equip up to five at a time, freely swapping between them.
Engravings are listed in order of importance.
Recommended Setup
- Grudge
- Adrenaline
- Raid Captain
- Cursed Doll
- Hit Master
Alternative Setup
- Grudge
- Adrenaline
- Raid Captain
- Mass Increase
- MP Efficiency Increase
Engravings Information
Despite the recommended setups, you can mix and match the last two engravings as you see fit.
- Hit Master doesn't affect Rolling Wheel and Claw, as well as Awakening and Bleed/Poison runes. This makes it slightly less effective.
- Mass Increase comes with a 10% Attack Speed penalty, which can cause you to miss some skills inside the Phantom Beast Awakening state.
- MP Efficiency Increase helps with mana issues, but it's slightly worse than the alternatives. It doesn't affect Awakening, Bleed and Poison runes.
Tripods
Tripods affect your skills directly by providing utility, damage, cooldown reduction or gauge generation. You should level up these first:
- Crow Commotion: Energy Concentration
- Ursine Windup: Cohesion, Unstoppable Power
- Boulder Bear: Earthen Rage, Phantom Beast Transformation
- Fox Flame: Phantom Beast Transformation, Azure Lightning
- Swish Bear: Phantom Beast Transformation, Iron Shell
- Fox Leap: Sharp Fangs
