Ark Passive System Guide
Last Updated:January 14, 2025|Changelog
This article goes over the details of the Ark Passive system, which comprises a large portion of your character's strength through a granular setup, allowing for a high degree of customization and reallocation. It consists of three separate trees (or tabs), each interacting with different parts of your gear and granting different effects.
- This guide currently contains information from an update that is not yet released in the Western version of Lost Ark. Until that update arrives, only characters above Item Level 1660 have full access to Ark Passive.
- If you want to find out what effects your class should use for each tree, check out our Build Guides.
Evolution Tree
The Evolution Tree interacts with your armor pieces, and consists of passive effects commonly used by all classes, such as Combat Stats (Crit, Specialization, Swiftness). This tree unlocks at Combat Level 50, and the maximum amount of points it can hold is 120.
Points for this tree can be obtained from the following sources:
- Each Combat Level after 50 grants +1 point.
- Upgrading armor with Mayhem Horns grants +2 points per piece (Tier 3 only).
- Upgrading armor with Empyrean of Contemplation grants +2 points per piece (Tier 3 only).
- Armor pieces from Tier 2 and onwards will grant points according to the table below.
Tier | Content | Gear | Evolution Points (5-pieces) |
---|---|---|---|
2 | Chaos Dungeon | Providence | 20 |
2 | Abyssal Dungeon | Marvelous Earth | 30 |
3 | Chaos Dungeon | Dimensional | 30 |

Enlightenment Tree
The Enlightenment Tree interacts with your accessories, and consists of passive effects, new skills, or special interactions unique to each class. This tree unlocks at Item Level 1250, and the maximum amount of points it can hold is 92.
There are two main paths in each class's tree, and acquiring these effects requires you to have the previous one unlocked. Each node requires 24 points, regardless of how many levels it has. Additionally, there are 4 independent effects (2 points per level) that can be unlocked regardless of the path you've chosen, unless specified otherwise.
Points for this tree can be obtained from the following sources:
- Each Combat Level after 50 grants +1 point.
- Permanent Enlightenment Point Potions can be obtained from various sources:
- 3 points - 70% North Kurzan Adventure Tome
- 3 points - Bloodclaw's Chart Collectibles
- 3 points - Unfinished Fight Una Reputation
- 5 points - Sevek Atun drop
- This is the Field Boss in North Kurzan. The drop rate is low, but it is guaranteed after 18 attempts.
- The Karma System grants up to +6 points (check our the Karma System Guide for more info).
- Accessories from Tier 3 and onwards will grant points according to the table below.
Tier | Content | Accessories | Enlightenment Points (5-pieces) |

Leap Tree
The Leap Tree interacts with your bracelet, and features a mix of general effects and class-specific nodes. These affect Hyper Awakenings Skills and Hyper Awakening Techniques in various ways. This tree unlocks at Item Level 1640, and the maximum amount of points it can hold is 70.
Points for this tree can be obtained from the following sources:
- Each Combat Level after 50 grants +2 points.
- Relic Tier 4 Bracelet grants +9 points.
- Ancient Tier 4 Bracelet grants +18 points.
- The Karma System grants +12 points (check out the Karma System Guide for more info).
Accessories
Starting with Tier 3, accessories provide Enlightenment Points and special effects, on top of their base stats. However, in order to gain these effects, accessories must go through a Refining process.
Refining requires Luminous Gem Shards and Gold, and grants an increase to base stats, additional Enlightenment Points, and a new effect with each step. Visit the Refine Accessory NPC in any major city to upgrade Tier 3 accessories up to two times, or Tier 4 accessories up to three times. Accessories can be equipped regardless of their refinement level, and can be traded at any time (limited up to 3 times). Here are all the effects available:
