Tier 3 Barrage Enhancement Artillerist Build Guide
Last Updated:November 16, 2024|Changelog
Welcome to the Barrage Enhancement Build Guide! This build revolves around generating gauge to unleash a massive barrage of explosive attacks. Utilizing the high-power artillery of this class you become an immobile turret that is incredibly tanky with a massive gun unloading rockets and lasers. Due to Barrage Enhancement your attacks become even stronger creating a burst transform playstyle.
Outside of that, this build provides great Stagger to the party. The main things to watch out for are his lack of mobility, some delayed attacks, and a complete lockdown of movement in the Barrage state. If you can get around that then this class becomes an amazing burst damage dealer that doesn't have to worry about being smacked around.
- Non-positional gameplay
- Good defence
- Ranged
- Poor mobility
Want a more fast paced and simple playstyle? Check out our Firepower Enhancement guide.

- Homing Barrage is your biggest damage skill outside of Barrage.
- Enhanced Shell is your way of applying your Synergy from Armor Destruction.
- Flamethrower, Gravity Explosion, Forward Barrage, Air Raid, and Napalm Shot are all of your meter generation skills.
- Homing Barrage, Gravity Explosion, and Napalm Shot all additionally provide Destruction.
- Energy Field is your utility shield that will grant you Push immunity.
- Missile Barrage is your Awakening. It will do some decent damage and fill up your meter.
Barrage Skills:
- Barrage: Howitzer is your third highest damage skill with extra Destruction.
- Barrage: Focus Fire is your highest damage skill.
- Barrage: Energy Cannon is tied with your highest damage skill with extra Destruction.
- Bombardment: Impregnability is a utility shield that protects you inside of Barrage.
Alternative Skill, Tripod, and Rune Options
Enhanced Shell can be swapped for Summon Turret, using High-Speed Recharge, Enhanced Turret, Laser Turret, and Bleed.
- This will give you a minor damage increase and may be slightly more comfortable to use but will put a strain on your mana so it is generally not recommended.
Check the Rune Guide for more details on Runes and how to obtain them.
This build is optimized and meant to be used only in Chaos Dungeons. For Ebony Cube please use a Raid build.
- Pressurized Heatbomb, Air Raid, and Homing Barrage are the best skills for killing elite mobs and bosses.
- Flamethrower, Multi-Rocket Launcher, and Gravity Explosion are the best skills for dealing with mass waves of mobs.
- Energy Field and Enhanced Shell are simply filler skills.
- Barrage skills are not really worth using in Chaos Dungeons.
- Missile Barrage is your Awakening. It is great for doing large area of effect bombing for mass waves of bombs or bosses.
Recommended Engraving Setup
While you can freely experiment with any engravings you want for this content, here's a recommended setup, based on the Engraving Support system:
- Preemptive Strike causes your attacks to deal immense amounts of damage to monsters that you haven't attacked yet, making it ideal for Chaos Dungeons.
- Contender is a stacking Attack Power effect that increases in strength once you kill a monster, making it ideal for Chaos Dungeons.
- Raid Captain provides damage based on your Bonus Movement Speed, synergizing well with the Buff Nodes scattered throughout Chaos Dungeons.
- Cursed Doll increases your damage with essentially no drawback in Chaos Dungeons.
- Firepower Enhancement significantly improves the Chaos Dungeon experience.
Gameplay & Skill Rotation
Barrage Enhancement buffs your damage and meter gain while completely removing the exhaustion effect from exiting Barrage allowing you to consistently re-enter the state doing massive burst damage.
His identity has two parts.
The left is the Firepower Meter
- Gain 10/20/30% Damage depending on Firepower Meter Level (White/Yellow/Red)
- This will decay outside of combat
The right is the Barrage meter
- Once filled can transform into Barrage state
- 20% Damage Reduction in Barrage
- Push Immunity in Barrage
- Access to Barrage skills
Artillerist Identity
Your first goal will be to generate a full Barrage meter using the rotation listed below. Once you do then you transform using Barrage and dump your damage skills, leave form and repeat. The playstyle is relatively simple with a large amount of super armor however it can be tricky at times.
There are two key pairs for your build, Flamethrower + Gravity Explosion, and Homing Barrage + Air Raid.
Flamethrower + Gravity Explosion are used together since you should use Energy Field to grant Push Immunity to make sure these skills aren't cancelled and their cooldowns are aligned.
Homing Barrage + Air Raid are used together since you can also pair their cooldown and they have delayed damage so timing them together on a good window is vital to maximize damage.
Missile Barrage will generate a full meter giving you an extra Barrage whenever available.
Basic Rotations
Meter Generation Rotation
- just means to enter your Barrage state. Reference the rotation below to see what to do during it.
- Your goal is to always pair Flamethrower and Gravity Explosion to line up the rotation and keep everything in sync to always be using Barrage as much as possible. This also applies to Homing Barrage and Air Raid.
Burst Rotation
- There is no real strict rotation, however it is ideal to use Barrage: Howitzer early on to assure it lands. The rest of the skills can be used whenever you feel necessary.
Stagger Check Rotation
- Simply follow this rotation to do good Stagger. Remember you can also use a Whirlwind Grenade if you have one equipped!
Tripods and Gems
Tripod Levelling
Increasing the level of Tripods greatly enhances their effectiveness. You may only increase the level of 18 tripods at a time. Some of them cannot be leveled at all, or are left at level 1 - these tripods are omitted from the table, even if they are used. Here are the main tripods you should look out for in order to maximize this build's potential.
Skill | 1st Tripod | 2nd Tripod | 3rd Tripod |
Homing Barrage | Weak Point Detection | Power Bomb
Air Raid | Quickfire | Lightning Barrage | The Big One |
Flamethrower | Load | Azure Flame
Gravity Explosion | Vital Point Barrage | Sweeping Gravity | Planetary Gravity |
Forward Barrage | Load | Quick Prep | Dancing Explosion |
Enhanced Shell | Load | Internal Ignition
Napalm Shot | Fierce Heat | Chain Explosion
Energy Field | Energy Increase |
Tripods written in bold text are your highest priority, make sure to level them first!

Stat Priority
This build utilizes Crit and Specialization, with Swiftness as an alternative option.
- Specialization is the primary stat. It helps you generate more meter to enter Barrage faster and scales up the damage significantly.
- Crit is a secondary stat. It increases our damage by increasing our Crit Rate.
- Swiftness is a secondary stat. It can be used in builds with other large sources of high Crit Rate like Hallucination Set build to gain more Attack and Movement speed and additional cooldown reduction.

Gear Set
Salvation Set
This provides us with great damage output and some bonus Attack Speed since we can gain Crit Rate from other sources.
Hallucination Set
This is an alternate build path that will utilize Swiftness instead of Crit, however utilizing Salvation Set will make the class easier to learn and it is ultimately up to you.
The name of your set will change every time you acquire a higher tier of gear, but the set effect will remain the same. Look for your set's keyword when recrafting it in order to find it more easily (e.g Entropy, Hallucination etc).

Engravings
Engravings are a core part of your build. Typically, most engravings will be used at level 3, but there are some that can be used at level 1 or 2 in addition to the others, after reaching item level 1540 and unlocking Ancient Accessories.
Relic Gearing Build (5x3)
- Barrage Enhancement
- Grudge
- Adrenaline
- Keen Blunt Weapon
- All-Out Attack
Ancient Gearing Build (5x3+1)
- Barrage Enhancement
- Grudge
- Adrenaline
- Keen Blunt Weapon
- All-Out Attack
- Ether Predator Lv. 1
Engraving Explanations
Core Engravings
- Barrage Enhancement provides massive quality of life to our Barrage and gives significant damage and Crit Rate to our build.
- Grudge increases damage done while also increasing damage received. The engraving is a highly effective damage increase without needing specific positioning, making it worthwhile even with the penalty.
- Adrenaline provides an additional source of Crit Rate and Attack Power. It is fairly easy to upkeep.
- Keen Blunt Weapon becomes very efficient with our high source of Crit Rate making it a core engraving.
Add-on Engravings (Pick 1)
- All-Out Attack is the ideal option as it is incredibly cheap and also provides significant quality of life to the build.
- Cursed Doll is a significant Attack Power increase at the cost of 25% healing. The healing penalty can be punishing for inexperienced players who are not familiar with boss mechanics, but it becomes easy to overcome with time.
- Hit Master amazing option since most of our damage is non-directional and has no downsides.
Level 1 and 2 Engravings
- Ether Predator provides the highest damage increase but if you are using a build like the Hallucination Set build with high Crit Rate you can downgrade Adrenaline to level one and use a second add-on engraving.
Check out the Engraving Guide for more details.
Bracelet
Bracelets provide beneficial effects to yourself or to your party members depending on the rolls they have.
The primary goal is to get the main stats used by this build Crit or Swiftness and Specialization. After that you should be aiming for Special Rolls to get more damage. Please note that this system is heavily reliant on RNG, and you should not expect to get much more beyond your main stats early on.

Card Sets
Cards are an endgame system that helps maximize your character's damage. Here are the recommended card sets for this build.
- Deep Dive is used early on as it is fairly easy to obtain.
- Light of Salvation is the standard endgame option, but it can take a long time to acquire 30-piece Awakening.
- Kazeros's Legion Commanders is used as an alternative to Light of Salvation, in content where enemies have a weakness to Dark Damage.
