Tier 4 Evolutionary Legacy Machinist Build Guide
Last Updated:November 12, 2024|Changelog
Welcome to the Tier 4 Evolutionary Legacy Machinist Build Guide! This build revolves around gathering Core Energy to transform into Hypersync mode, which uses fast laser attacks with low cooldowns to deal consistent damage.
Evolutionary Legacy inflicts decent amounts of Stagger and Destruction, mainly due to his skills being on short cooldowns.
- Good Defense
- Non-positional gameplay
- Mobile
- Melee
- Small Hitboxes
- High APM
- If you're unsure when to transition, our Ark Passive Breakpoints guide could help you decide whether you should return to the Tier 3 Guide or continue.

Builds
Skills Setup
- Command: Raid Missile and Command: Baby Drones are your main Core Energy generators.
- Command: Flare Beam, Annihilation Mode and Energy Buster are backup Core Energy generators.
- Fiery Escape is a utility skill that creates a big shield on use.
- Mobile Shot is your Human form mobility skill.
- Avalanche is your Human form Counter skill.
- Comet Strike is your Combo skill. When paired with some other skills, it buffs them in some way.
- Echelon Beam is your Sync mode Counter skill, as well as a hard hitting skill. When paired with Comet Strike it has a faster animation.
- Laser Blade is a hard hitting skill. When paired with Comet Strike it deals +20% damage.
- Slugshot is a low-cooldown skill. When paired with Comet Strike it has a faster animation.
- Crimson Breaker is a hard hitting skill.
- Surge Blow does Destruction damage.
Skill Setup
- Annihilation Mode is your main damage skill for everything. Its Swift Preparation tripod can reset the skill cooldown given you hit enough enemies, and have enough Swiftness and/or a high enough cooldown gem.
- Mobile Shot and Avalanche are used entirely for mobility.
- The rest of the skills are backups in case you fail some of those requirements.
Recommended Engravings
- Preemptive Strike
- Contender
- Raid Captain
- Cursed Doll
- Magick Stream
This build is optimized and meant to be used only in Kurzan Front. For Ebony Cube please use a Raid build.
Identity & Gameplay
This build focuses on quickly generating Core Energy with your Drone Skills and Joint Skills to enter Hypersync, a transformation state that provides you a lot of Shield points and powerful Sync Skills. If this shield depletes or after enough time passes, you're de-transformed and repeat this cycle again.
Combining Comet Strike with Echelon Beam and Laser Blade is a core gimmick, as it boosts these skills in some way. It's worth mentioning that Thruster Move (Hypersync Spacebar) works as an alternative to Comet Strike, triggering the same combo with the respective skills.
Activating his identity grants you the following effects for its entire duration:
- 15% Attack Speed
- 30% Move Speed
- Reset all Sync Skill cooldowns on activation
- Each Sync skill used in Hypersync state reduces the cooldown of the others by 0.5s
- Synergy application as an aura during Hypersync mode.
If your shield depletes due to receiving too much damage, your Core Energy refunded will be lower and you will need to use more skills to fill it again, so knowing boss patterns and when to greed for damage is fundamental.
Machinist Identity
Rotation
Core Energy Meter Generation
- With high Specialization (1771+) and both Core Energy Charge tripods at level 5 in Baby Drones and Raid Missile, you should be able to max Core Energy with only these two skills. If you have lower spec, wealth runes or tripod levels, then you will need to cast other skills.
Hypersync Example Rotations
In combat scenarios with boss mechanics and downtime, a strict rotation isn't always feasible. The following rotation describes an ideal situation, in which you can do uninterrupted damage for the entire duration of your transformation.
Hypersync Rotation #1
(Follow from left to right, and top to bottom)
- Point Exclusion is used during the small downtime in your cycles, ideally after the first Crimson Breaker.
- EX - Zero Point is your identity skill, used whenever possible during your transformation.
- The core concept is to pair Comet Strike with Echelon Beam and Laser Blade for increased Attack Speed and Damage, respectively.
- This rotation also fits as many Echelon Beam (4) and Crimson Breaker (3) as possible, since those two skills are almost half of your damage.
- This rotation may be too tight if you have a low level Cooldown Gem.
Hypersync Rotation #2
(Follow from left to right, and top to bottom)
- Point Exclusion is used during the small downtime in your cycles, ideally after the first Crimson Breaker.
- EX - Zero Point is your identity skill, used whenever possible during your transformation.
- The core concept is to pair Comet Strike with Echelon Beam and Laser Blade for increased Attack Speed and Damage, respectively.
- This rotation also fits as many Echelon Beam (4) and Crimson Breaker (3) as possible, since those two skills are almost half of your damage.
Gems
Gems are another significant aspect of your build, as they directly impact the damage and cooldowns of your skills. You can equip up to 11 gems at a time. Here are the ones you should focus on to maximize this build's potential, listed according to their priority.
Damage Gems
- Hypersync
- Command: Raid Missile*
- Command: Baby Drones*
Cooldown Gems
- Hypersync
- [Command: Raid Missile*
- Command: Baby Drones*
- Command: Flare Beam*
- Energy Buster*
- Mobile Shot*
- Annihilation Mode*
- Fiery Escape*
* Note: These gems are used only for the Base Attack Power bonus they provide. They don't need to be Machinist gems, they can even be gems from your alts! Gem type doesn't matter, as long as they are Tier 4 gems.
Engravings
Engravings are a core part of your build. You can equip up to five at a time, freely swapping between them.
Recommended Setup
- Grudge
- Keen Blunt Weapon
- Adrenaline
- Barricade
- Raid Captain
Bracelet
Bracelets provide beneficial effects to yourself or to your party members depending on the rolls they have.
The primary goal is to get the main stats used by this build - Specialization and Crit. After that, you should be aiming for Special Rolls to get more damage. Please note that this system is heavily reliant on RNG, and you should not expect to get much more beyond your main stats early on.
Optimal Bonus Rolls
Specialization
Crit
Circulate
Fervor
Hammer
Hammer + Wedge
Alternative Bonus Rolls
Precise
Assail
Superiority
Wedge (without Hammer)
Weapon Power
Dexterity
Elixir
The recommended Elixir Set for this build is Master.
