Tier 3 Control Glaivier Build Guide
Last Updated:November 16, 2024|Changelog
Welcome to the Control Glaivier Build Guide! This build revolves around locking your Focus stance, only allowing you to use Flurry skills. It pays back by significantly increasing the power of Flurry skills and focuses on incredibly high uptime with high Attack and Movement speed focusing on Back Attacks.
Outside of that, this build provides some nice Stagger and Destruction to the party. However, it can struggle with some severe mana issues and must be attacking at all times to maintain an efficient damage output.
- Good mobility
- Easy to learn
- Flexible in parties
- Positional gameplay
- Melee
- High APM

- Soul Cutter, Half Moon Slash, and Chain Slash are our main damage skills.
- Raging Dragon Slash, Blue Dragon's Claw, and Stampeding Slash are our additional damage skills.
- Half Moon Slash and Chain Slash additionally have extra Destruction.
- Shackling Blue Dragon is our self-buff and Synergy from Target Weak Point with some extra Destruction.
- Thorn Jab is our Counter and provides a small amount of mobility.
- Yeon-style Spear Technique: Spear Meteor is your Awakening. It does not contribute significant damage so is mainly used as a filler, however, you should always focus on your main skills if they are available.
Alternative Skill, Tripod, and Rune Options
Thorn Jab can be swapped for Flash Kick, using Excellent Mobility and Purify.
- This should only be used in situations where you are struggling for mobility and do not require a Counter.
Stampeding Slash can be swapped for Wheel of Blades, using Concussion, Weak Point Detection, Consecutive Spin, and Focus.
- This is a good swap for situations for when you are still struggling with severe mana issues, however, this swap will reduce your damage.
- Excellent Mobility can be used for more mobility within the skill but will decrease the Stagger output.
Check the Rune Guide for more details on Runes and how to obtain them.
This build is optimized and meant to be used only in Chaos Dungeons. For Ebony Cube please use a Raid build.
- Half Moon Slash and Raging Dragon Slash are your best elite killing skills.
- Chain Slash, Soul Cutter, Wheel of Blades, Windsplitter, and Cutting Wind are all amazing mob clearing skills.
- Flash Kick is a mobility skill.
- Yeon-style Spear Technique: Spear Meteor is your Awakening. It can one shot any elites or large waves from range.
Recommended Engraving Setup
While you can freely experiment with any engravings you want for this content, here's a recommended setup, based on the Engraving Support system:
- Preemptive Strike causes your attacks to deal immense amounts of damage to monsters that you haven't attacked yet, making it ideal for Chaos Dungeons.
- Contender is a stacking Attack Power effect that increases in strength once you kill a monster, making it ideal for Chaos Dungeons.
- Raid Captain provides damage based on your Bonus Movement Speed, synergizing well with the Buff Nodes scattered throughout Chaos Dungeons.
- Cursed Doll increases your damage with essentially no drawback in Chaos Dungeons.
- Control increases your damage and meter generation.
Gameplay & Skill Rotation
Control locks out stance which removes our identity interaction entirely. This means that our Dual Meter will only be used to buff skills like Chain Slash, Half Moon Slash, and Blue Dragon's Claw from tripods such as Final Decision.
Her identity is locked to the Flurry stance. These effects instead come from the Control engraving.
- 40% Damage Increase to Flurry skills
- Dual Meter gain increased 100%
- When spending Dual Meter reduce Spacebar cooldown by 2 seconds.
All attacks with a Back Attack affix receive +10% Crit Rate and +5% Damage when they land on the target's back-side indicator as well as the bonuses from Entropy Set and Ambush Master. It is important to position yourself accordingly as much as possible in order to take advantage of this.
Glaivier Identity
This build revolves around trying to spam as much as possible to maintain high uptime and damage output. Shackling Blue Dragon provides us with a significant self-buff giving us 20% Crit Rate and 8% Multiplicative Crit Damage from Target Weak Point. Then we try to unleash as much damage as possible focusing on the back of the boss.
Basic Rotations
Standard Damage Rotation
- This rotation is incredibly simple, follow it trying to deal as much damage as possible Soul Cutter, Chain Slash, and Stampeding Slash will come off of cooldown fast and can be recast to fit in even more damage.
- Blue Dragon's Claw will trigger Conviction then Half Moon Slash will trigger Judgment giving us bonus mana regeneration and cooldown reduction.
Stagger Check Rotation
- Simply follow this rotation to do some great Stagger. Remember you can also use a Whirlwind Grenade if you have one equipped.
Tripods and Gems
Tripod Levelling
Increasing the level of Tripods greatly enhances their effectiveness. You may only increase the level of 18 tripods at a time. Some of them cannot be leveled at all, or are left at level 1 - these tripods are omitted from the table, even if they are used. Here are the main tripods you should look out for in order to maximize this build's potential.
Skill | 1st Tripod | 2nd Tripod | 3rd Tripod |
Shackling Blue Dragon | Quick Prep
Half Moon Slash | Weak Point Detection | Final Decision | Blade of Tornado |
Raging Dragon Slash | Quick Prep | Quick Slash | Awaken |
Blue Dragon's Claw | Illusory Double | Final Decision

Tripods written in bold text are your highest priority, make sure to level them first!

- Swiftness is the primary stat. It increases our damage by increasing our cooldown reduction, additionally, it provides us with Attack and Movement speed to have better maneuverability and ability to fit more skills in.
- Crit is a secondary stat. The build naturally has a very high Crit Rate, however this will give us a bonus boost.

Gear Set
Entropy Set
Due to our build entirely revolving around Back Attacking this becomes the best option out of all sets.
The name of your set will change every time you acquire a higher tier of gear, but the set effect will remain the same. Look for your set's keyword when recrafting it in order to find it more easily (e.g Entropy, Hallucination etc).
Check out the Gear Progression Guide for step by step instructions and early game gearing.

Engravings
Engravings are a core part of your build. Typically, most engravings will be used at level 3, but some can be used at level 1 or 2 in addition to the others, after reaching item level 1540 and unlocking Ancient Accessories.
Relic Gearing Build (5x3)
- Control
- Grudge
- Ambush Master
- Raid Captain
- Adrenaline
Ancient Gearing Build (5x3+1)
- Control
- Grudge
- Ambush Master
- Raid Captain
- Cursed Doll
- Adrenaline Lv. 1
Engraving Explanations
Core Engravings
- Control significantly increases our Dual Meter generation and increases damage of our Flurry skills.
- Grudge increases damage done while also increasing damage received. The engraving is a highly effective damage increase without needing specific positioning, making it worthwhile even with the penalty.
- Ambush Master because all of your damage skills have a Back Attack property, this becomes a good choice, but forces you to play around it to take full advantage of it.
- Raid Captain due to our high Swiftness we can efficiently use this engraving for an essentially free damage boost with no tradeoff.
Add-on Engravings (Pick 1)
- Cursed Doll is a significant Attack Power increase at the cost of 25% healing. The healing penalty can be punishing for inexperienced players who are not familiar with boss mechanics, but it becomes easy to overcome with time..
- Adrenaline provides an additional source of Crit Rate and Attack Power. It is fairly easy to upkeep.
Level 1 and 2 Engravings
- Adrenaline becomes the best level one option once we reach end-game gearing.
Check out the Engraving Guide for more details.
