Stone Burst Druid Endgame Build Guide
Welcome to the Stone Burst Druid Endgame Guide! This build features devastating ranged explosions combined with Companions, Nature Magic, and Shapeshifting! The result is a fun and straightforward build with visuals like no other.
Out of the box, the Stone Burst Druid is one of few Channeling Skill builds. Stone Burst, is an Earth Skill that functions similarly to Lightning Storm in that you need to stand still to deal damage. However, unlike Lightning Storm, Stone Burst cannot be channeled indefinitely and can Overpower using Anticline Burst. As such, the Stone Burst Druid is primarily an Overpower build, stacking large amounts of Life and Fortify among other multipliers to unleash bone shattering explosions.
To unlock the full potential of the Stone Burst Druid, it's important to use a few build enhancing Uniques. Stone of Vehemen is a Stone Burst specific unique that increases your damage substantially and comes with great offensive stats. On the topic of improving damage, Wildheart Hunger directly buffs your Key Passive, Bestial Rampage, providing significant improvements to your Attack Speed, damage, and defense. Shapeshifting is made possible with Vasily's Prayer allotting the Werebear tag to all your Earth Skills. The Werebear form allows you to use Survival Instincts, and provides extra offensive and defensive advantages.
The inclusion of Companion Skills in this build permits you to leverage Nagu for large Offering gains, Overflowing Xal for a very large Maximum Life multiplier, which drastically increases your Overpower damage. Cataclysm is another noteworthy addition. This skill is responsible for your Vulnerable and Poison application, but even more importantly, nullifies this build's high Spirit costs when paired with Mjölnic Ryng.

Requirements for this build
- Anticline Burst
This build guide assumes you have a Level 60 Character and unlocked Torment 1. To get there, level up with one of our Druid Leveling Guides. See how this Build compares against others with our various Build Tier Lists.
Boss Powers
Season 8 is the Season of Belial's Return. It allows you to tap into Boss Powers obtained from World, Event, and Lair Bosses throughout Sanctuary. The new seasonal mechanic, Apparition Incursions, is available at any difficulty level and gives you the opportunity to unlock a subset of these powers very early on. Various Apparition Monsters appear in these special timed events throughout Sanctuary. Defeating these monsters spawns 1 of 10 Apparition Bosses to hunt you down and defeating them grants you their Boss Power. After defeating the first Boss, continue the event for a chance to fight a second Apparition Boss, after which Belial himself joins the fray.
There are 24 Boss Powers available and the first time you defeat one of these Bosses, you claim their power for yourself. Boss Powers each have Main and Modifier effects to boost your build. 13 are available in all difficulties (from Apparition Incursions and World Bosses), while 11 can only be acquired in Torment 1 difficulty or higher from Lair Bosses and Lilith. You can equip 1 Main Power and 3 Modifiers, and all powers can be upgraded up to Rank 20, increasing the potency of both the Main and Modifier effect. You use Spectral Ash to upgrade these powers, dropped from Apparition Incursions and by defeating any Bosses. Boss Powers also scale with your Paragon Level, growing stronger as you progress.
Best-in-Slot Boss Powers
Main Power
- Wandering Death's Chest Beam - You can effortlessly exploit this Boss Power to trigger your Modifiers and leverage its large damage multiplier frequently.
Modifiers
- Harbinger of Hatred's Volley - Thanks to Supreme Cataclysm's Vulnerable application, this is just another great damage multiplier added to your build.
- Belial's Eye Beams - Triggered by both your Main Power and Shroud of False Death, this Modifier helps mitigate incoming damage and also buffs your Overpower damage.
- Outlaw Sharpshooter's Eye - A solid damage choice that fits the Distant playstyle. It comes with the added benefit of being unlockable early on.
Alternate Boss Powers
- Hatred's Embrace's Haste - Critical Strike Chance is important in every build and this Modifier gives you a lot of it for simply having Shadow Resistance.
- Blackmailer's Sabotage - The Stone Burst Druid has extremely high Fortify generation and the additional Barrier from this Modifier makes you almost unkillable.
- Lord Zir's Blood Pool / Ashava's Poison Breath / Lilith's Wind of Hate - All these Main Powers are solid alternatives for triggering your Modifiers, each having a slightly different activation requirement.

Skills & Gameplay
- Claw is a cheap way to trigger your Werewolf Shapeshifting buffs. This functionality is later attributed to Blood Howl.
- Stone Burst is your main damage skill, unleashing large AoE explosions. Select Raging Stone Burst to increase your damage in exchange for a higher Spirit cost, which is nullifed using Mjölnic Ryng and Cataclysm. Stone Burst is also a Werebear Skill via Vasily's Prayer, enabling various Shapeshifting Passives, including your Key Passive Bestial Rampage. Channel Stone Burst to its maximum size before releasing it to deal guaranteed Overpower damage when using Anticline Burst. Furthermore, Attack Speed reduces the time it takes to reach maximum size, essentially allowing you to detonate your Stone Burst sooner.
- Blood Howl is your main means of entering Werewolf form. Take advantage of Enhanced Blood Howl to efficiently reduce its Cooldown in combat, which allows you to stack Wildheart Hunger. Shapeshift between Werebear and Werewolf every 5-10 seconds to maintain your increased Bestial Rampage bonuses from this Unique. If you are having difficulties maintaining this buff using Blood Howl use Claw instead. Backlash and Preserving Blood Howl give you more damage and Attack Speed when you cast Blood Howl.
- Wolves and Ravens are your Companion Skills. Use these skills in combination with Nagu to Overflow Xal up to 33%[x] Maximum Life, which drastically increases your Overpower damage. Any Companion Skill works for this, but Ravens and Wolves are preferred simply because they're cost efficient, since there are a total of 5 Companions between these two skill slots. Don't actively use the cast components of these skills.
- Hurricane damages, Poisons, slows, and reduces the damage enemies caught in it deal to you. Use Hurricane Duration Tempers along with Endless Tempest to achieve 100% uptime on Stormshifter's, granting you more Ranks to Stone Burst.
- Cataclysm provides great utility. It applies Vulnerable and Poison to enemies via Overload. What's more, it grants unlimited Spirit and a huge damage multiplier when used with Mjölnic Ryng. Invest into its recovery with Cataclysm Cooldown Reduction Tempers and Igni + Zec. This rune combination is required for 100% Cataclysm uptime. If you're having issues with Cataclysm uptime, max out Cataclysm (5/5), and pair any available Ritual Rune with Zec. Additionally, you can masterwork Endless Tempest on Mjölnic Ryng for more Cataclysm duration.
Skill Passives
- Bestial Rampage is a two-part Key Passive, requiring both Werebear and Werewolf Shapeshifting forms to receive the full benefit. Werewolf form is attained from Blood Howl or Claw, while Stone Burst rounds out your Werebear needs thanks to Vasily's Prayer.
- Envenom is a very strong Passive multiplier, on par with Nature's Reach. It boosts Critical Strike Damage against Poisoned enemies. Poisoning is achieved rather easily with Overload, enabling both Cataclysm and Hurricane to Poison.
- Nature's Reach, Quickshift, Feral Aptitude and Backlash all provide considerable damage bonuses that synergize with the build. Circle of Life, Defensive Posture (from Vasily's Prayer) and Heightened Senses enhance your survivability.
Skill Rotation
- Begin your rotation by casting Cataclysm.
- Next, activate Hurricane.
- Make sure to maintain high uptime on both skills by recasting them as they come off Cooldown.
- Channel Stone Burst to its maximum size before releasing it to deal damage.
- Channeling Stone Burst also triggers your Main Boss Power and associated Modifiers.
- Ensure you deal damage from afar, repositioning when enemies come too close.
- Use Blood Howl or Claw to maintain Shapeshifting bonuses, especially Wildheart Hunger.
- Tap Stone Burst to return to the Werebear form in order to stack Wildheart Hunger and other Shapeshifting bonuses faster.
Spirit Boons
Druids can choose 5 out of 16 Passive bonuses (Boons) from 4 different spirits. You have to bond with one of the Spirits in Túr Dúlra to activate two of its Boons. The remaining Spirits can only have one Boon each. Use the following Boons:
Deer Spirit: Wariness
Eagle Spirit: Avian Wrath
Wolf Spirit: Calamity
Snake Spirit: Overload

Paragon & Glyphs
Follow the appropriate Paragon setup based on whether or not you have access to Vasily's Prayer.
Carefully check your Paragon Boards to ensure correct board rotation. Glyphs go from a radius of 3 to 4 at level 15 and from 4 to 5 at level 46. Some of them cannot be activated before reaching these thresholds! Progress through The Pit to rank up your Glyphs.

Use the slider to see the progression steps. At around Paragon 200, leveling slows down significantly and all important Rare clusters, Legendary nodes and Glyph sockets should be unlocked. Afterwards, you can min/max your build with minor tweaks and by picking up additional smaller nodes.

Runes
You can have up to two Runewords in your setup, each consisting of one Ritual and one Invocation Rune. Socket them in Two-Handed Weapons if your build calls for them, otherwise place them into your Armor pieces to replace normal gems. The Stone Burst Duid focuses on the following combos:
Best in Slot
- Igni + Zec - Reduces Cataclysm's Cooldown. Cataclysm plays a pivotal role in applying Vulnerable and Poison, so make sure to always have it available.
- Nagu + Xal - Use Companion Skills to grant yourself up to 33%[x] more Maximum Life, further scaling your Overpower damage.
Alternative choices
If you haven't unlocked the final setup or found the top runes, you can also benefit from these options:
- Jah - Grants Teleport, which is a strong Mobility Skill. When activated, this skill also triggers Tibault's Will and Vigilance.
- Bac / Lith / Tam - These Ritual Runes are all good at generating Offering, especially Bac for speed farming.
- Gar - The Critical Strike Chance bonus is great, especially early on.
- Mot - Dark Shroud is a strong and affordable defensive option.
- Ohm - War Cry's damage bonus, though nerfed, is still useful.

Mercenaries
Mercenaries are unlocked during the Vessel of Hatred campaign and assist you in battle. There are 4 separate Mercenaries to choose from, each with their own skill trees and abilities. You can have one Hired (permanent) mercenary during solo play and a Reinforcement who assists you from time to time in certain situations.
- Hired: Varyana
She provides you with increased Movement Speed as you gain Massacre Stacks. Remember that Massacre stacks reset if you have not killed any enemies after 7 seconds. She also provides Attack Speed and even more Attack Speed when she activates Bloodthirst.
- Reinforcement: Raheir
Choose Bastion for a surge of Damage Reduction and Unstoppable when you need it most.

Stat Priorities & Item Progression
To enable the Stone Burst Druid to perform optimally, hunt for these stats on your gear with good rolls and aim to Temper ⚒️ & Masterwork Crit ↑ them accordingly. The green arrow ↑ indicates which affix is most impactful to Masterwork Crit, and it does not indicate how many Masterwork Crits you need on that particular affix. Keep in mind that certain stats, such as Armor, Resistances, Extra Size Tempers, Attack Speed, and more, have caps that may affect your priorities according to the items and Paragon points available at that moment.

Item Progression Goals
Before you dive into the Endgame with the Stone Burst Druid, take a look at this overview of the items used in the build. Build Variants
This section is designed to guide your Stone Burst Druid from a fresh level 60 into the very late endgame using the three variants Starter, Ancestral and Mythic. At the final step, you should be fully decked out with a great all-rounder build. From there, follow the other min/max variants if you want to optimize around certain activities such as Pit Pushing, Speedfarming and more.
If you are fresh in Torment 1 coming from a leveling guide, this is where you begin. Since only some Aspects can be guaranteed from Dungeon unlocks for the Codex of Power, focus on acquiring the additional aspects via gambling with Murmuring Obols.
Gear & Skills
Early on in your progression, focus on Armor & Resistances to survive. Each Torment difficulty adds a penalty of -250 Armor and -25% all Res and it's recommended to keep both capped (1000 Armor, 70+ Res) at all times. As you unlock higher power gear, masterworking levels and more Paragon points, you naturally scale your character into the higher difficulties and can start replacing some of these rolls with offensive or utility stats.
- The Starter variant is substantially weaker due to its lack of Uniques. As such, work toward obtaining Vasily's Prayer from Echo of Varshan and Wildheart Hunger from Lord Zir as soon as possible.
- These items allow you to switch your Key Passive to Bestial Rampage, granting powerful Shapeshifting bonuses and enhancing your overall damage and survivability.
- To reach maximum damage potential with the Stone Burst Druid, it’s essential to acquire Anticline Burst, which guarantees Overpower.
- This build is molded around dealing Overpower damage and will be severely undercut without this Aspect.
- Cataclysm and Hurricane are both present in this variant, albeit to a lesser degree.
- Use Hurricane Size and Hurricane Duration Tempers to create a 100% uptime Poisoning Aura around you with Hurricane and Overload.
- Include Cataclysm for its incredible utility. However, it is borderline impossible to have 100% Cataclysm uptime at this stage without Zec.
- This variant uses Juggernaut's or Disobedience to cap out Armor and Might for some extra Damage Reduction.
- Early on, you might struggle with Stone Burst's Spirit costs. To optimize your performance, ensure your gear is equipped with Spirit per Second affixes and prioritize acquiring Gift of the Stag as your first Boon.
- Additionally, leverage Resource Cost Reduction and Imprint Resource Aspects, such as Umbral, for their Spirit generation.
- At the start of your journey, prioritize your resources. Imprint sparingly, don't exhaust your on resources rerolling perfect gear as it is very likely to get replaced later on. Focus on the major power increases from Paragons and Glyphs until you begin collecting Uniques.
- Upon reaching Earthen Devastation in your Paragon Board, be mindful of your Damage to Crowd Controlled Enemies bonus.
- The target for this stat is 250%, and your personal value will depend on the nodes taken on this board and your socketed Outmatch Glyph level.
The goal here is to progress through the Torment difficulties as you unlock Ancestrals, Paragon points, all Legendary Aspects, Temper mods and the most important Uniques to pilot this build. Some Legendary Aspects are used temporarily to fill slots that may be replaced with more Unique items later on.
Gear & Skills
As you upgrade your gear to Ancestrals with more Masterworking levels and reach higher Paragon, you can focus more and more on replacing Armor & Resistance rolls with better stats, but ensure to stay capped at 1000 Armor and 70%+ Resistances for the difficulty you're currently in.
- Vasily's Prayer is your first major upgrade. This Unique can be found by defeating Echo of Varshan. It converts your Stone Burst into a Werebear Skill, providing a new range of defensive synergies and damage multipliers that you can utilize to increase your lethality.
- Most notably it grants access to Survival Instincts, a gargantuan damage multiplier for this build.
- Wildheart Hunger is a natural pair with your Key Passive Bestial Rampage, and drops from Lord Zir. It provides you with a significant increase in both Attack Speed and damage. However, the drawback is that you must Shapeshift into Werewolf or Werebear every 5-10 seconds to preserve its stacks.
- Mjölnic Ryng is also available to earn by defeating Lord Zir, granting a colossal damage multiplier. More importantly, this unique grants you unlimited Spirit while Cataclysm is active, singlehandedly solving Stone Burst's high Spirit Cost issues.
- Visit The Beast In The Ice for Stone of Vehemen. Stone Burst receives a lot of Ranks and damage from this Unique, and the greater Chance for Stone Burst to Cast Twice guarantees you are always exploding two Stone Bursts.
- Insatiable Fury drops from Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint, granting Stone Burst additional Skill Ranks when paired with Vasily's Prayer, and also offers a large amount of Maximum Life.
- Overall a strong Unique, but it gets replaced with Shroud of False Death later on.
- From the time you reach Earthen Devastation in your Paragon Board, be mindful of your Damage to Crowd Controlled Enemies bonus.
- The target for this stat is 250%, and your personal value will depend on the nodes taken on this board and your socketed Earth and Sky Glyph level.
- Once you've acquired the core Uniques for this build, you can transition to what is essentially the final version. The addition of Mythic Uniques from this point are more build-enhancing than build-enabling.
This is the final version of the build's progression, including all regular Unique items, Mythic Uniques, Legendary Aspects, Temper mods and Masterworking, leaving you with a great all-rounder build for all content in the game. Additional variants use this as a baseline to optimize around certain activities.
Gear & Skills
- With its +1 ranks to all passive abilities, the Shroud of False Death delivers a considerable boost to your damage and defense. It also comes with the added utility of granting Invisibility and Movement Speed via its effect. On top of that, its All Stats roll is helpful for capping Critical Strike Chance, Armor, Resistances, and meeting Rare Node requirements in the Paragon.
- Ring of Starless Skies boasts a phenomenal amount of Attack Speed and Critical Strike Chance, both stats vitally important to your build. Furthermore, the Mythic Unique effect mitigates the drawbacks associated with Raging Stone Burst, while also providing you with a considerable damage multiplier. Make sure to cast Stone Burst at least every 3 seconds in combat to maintain its bonuses.
- Tyrael's Might is a solid consideration if you're looking to combat the Torment Tier Resistance penalties and boast a very defensive setup. In this case, make sure to swap the excess Resistances on your gear to Maximum Life or Armor.
This Speedfarming variant optimizes the build for easy activities like Helltides, Whispers, Nightmare Dungeons and lower Pit Tiers after you have finished the Mythic variant and reached a plateau in your progression.
Gear & Skills
- If you are looking to traverse through content quicker, optimize your setup with the following:
- Bac + Jah. This combination of Runes grants you the Sorcerer's Teleport, which is a fantastic Mobility Skill that also triggers Vigilance.
- Link Zec to Nagu to maintain a good Cataclysm Cooldown regeneration.
- Replace Blood Howl with Shred and dash to your enemies as part of your gameplay loop.
The Grizzly Rage Stone Burst Druid leverages Companion Skills alongside Nagu + Xal for a massive 40%[x] Maximum Life multiplier, which greatly boosts Overpower damage. Igni + Jah are your other Runes, granting you Teleport. This skill is especially important because it is used to activate Tibault's Will for Spirit and damage. On top of its fantastic Mobility capabilities, it also triggers Vigilance.
Gear & Skills
Skills
- Before entering Grizzly Rage, alternate between your Companion Skills and Stone Burst to stack Quickshift.
- While in Grizzly Rage, use Debilitating Roar for a burst of damage, Damage Reduction, and Fortify.
- Debilitating Roar also activates Backlash.
- Your Companion Skills are paired with Nagu to double (Overflow) Xal's Maximum Life bonus.
- Invest additional Skill Points in Grizzly Rage to be able to cast Poison Creeper while in Grizzly Rage, Poisoning and Immobilizing enemies.
- Select Pack Leader to instantly reset your Poison Creeper against groups of monsters, and temper Poison Creeper Duration to extend its Poison on enemies.
Skill Rotation
- Stack Quickshift.
- Cast Grizzly Rage.
- Use Teleport to trigger Tibault's Will and Vigilance.
- Tibault's Will grants you Spirit. Take advantage of Teleport's short Cooldown to keep your Resource topped off, while also repositioning away from enemies.
- Activate Poison Creeper to Poison and Immobilize enemies.
- Cast Debilitating Roar for damage, Damage Reduction, and Fortify.
- Kill enemies with Stone Burst.
Boss Powers and Mercenaries

FAQ & Mechanics
Once a guide is released, many players have questions on why and how we are approaching certain choices. In this section you can find the answers to the questions that have been asked the most.
The build works really well when you decimate everything in seconds, but may get overwhelmed if fights are long against high level monsters. There are several adjustments you can make when you have trouble with more difficult content:
- Check if your Armor & Resists are capped.
- Use Defensive Consumables.
- Roll Maximum Life instead of offensive stats on as many pieces as possible.
- Kite enemies when they become Unstoppable.
Raheir is responsible for your Unstoppable. If you'd like another source of Unstoppable, you can replace Wolves with Trample. However, this will limit the Offering gained from Nagu and therefore reduce Xal's Maximum Life multiplier.
Try to get a Dagger, which benefits from higher base Attack Speed. A One-Handed Mace is also good thanks to its intrinsic Overpower Damage. The reason you use One-Handed Weapon is because of Stone of Vehemen. This Totem is needed to maximize your Stone Burst damage, leaving One-Handed Weapons as your only option.
Generally hardcore and softcore share the same builds. Outside of being more prudent in your gameplay, you can also tweak the setup slightly to raise your survivability:
- Focus more on Armor & Resists, making sure that they are always capped especially as you transition into higher torment difficulties.
- Focus more on Maximum Life rolls, for example replacing DPS stats like main attributes, Attack Speed, Critical Strike Chance and additive increased damage rolls. Also Masterwork life more than normal if no other crucial stats have priority.
- Focus on adding Defensive Skills, Passives and Paragon nodes first as you level up.
- Play on a slightly lower difficulty than normal, don't push into difficult territory. As long as you can deal with all enemies swiftly, they can't retaliate.
- Include a source of Unstoppable if possible to get out of Crowd Controls.
- Use Defensive Elixirs and Incenses instead of offensive ones.
Mechanics
- With Vasily's Prayer equipped, your Earth skills also count as Werebear skills, granting up to 5% of your Maximum Life as Fortify with every cast. While the Helmet offers a significant defensive boost with Armor, Life, and Willpower, its real value lies in its synergy with Shapeshifting. By turning Earth Skills into Werebear Skills, you unlock powerful bonuses like:
- Survival Instincts for a huge Overpower damage multiplier.
- Access to Bestial Rampage, Changeling's Debt and Stormshifter's.
- Quickshift for increased damage after Shapeshifting.
- Heightened Senses / Iron Fur for additional survivability.
- Additional Maximum Life from Mending (and Ursine Strength if applicable).
- With these Unique Boots equipped, Shapeshifting adds a stack of Wildheart, which is visible on your buff bar. Each stack of Wildheart increases the bonuses of your Bestial Rampage by 5%. These stacks are additive, resulting in up to 50%[x] damage and 50% Attack Speed from these Boots alone! However, the stacks decrease at 0.5%[+] per second, essentially requiring a new Shapeshift form every 5-10 seconds in order to maintain the maximum stacks.
Bosses are immune to Crowd Control (CC) effects and instead take Stagger Damage when hit by one. The amount of stagger damage dealt depends on the type of CC and is proportional to its duration. After being hit by a CC effect, the Boss will temporarily take less Stagger Damage from a CC of the same type.
Effectively, this means that when you're just spamming one type of CC you don't need to spam any more of it than what you need to keep a normal enemy permanently CC-d. To stagger the Boss quickly you need to use as many different types of CC as possible. After the Boss is staggered it gains a certain amount of stacking Stagger Damage Reduction for the rest of the fight:
- After 1st Stagger: 20%
- After 2nd Stagger: 40%
- After 3rd Stagger: 60%
- After 4th Stagger: 90%
Bosses naturally regain 1% of their Stagger HP every second and when that regen is combined with 90% Stagger Damage Reduction it becomes borderline impossible to Stagger the Boss again unless you bring a serious amount of crowd controls.
Summary
The Stone Burst Druid is a powerful burst-damage specialist that excels at taking down large groups of enemies with AoE damage from afar. With the addition of Companions, strong Storm Skills, and Shapeshifting bonuses, this build puts forth a mighty combination of damage and survivability.
