Harbinger of Hatred can be summoned within Mephisto's domain in the Harbinger's Den deep within the jungle of Nahantu. To challenge him, use the quick travel option by clicking the Harbinger's Den, or travel there normally using the Kurast Docks Waypoint.

Harbinger of Hatred's Abilities

Initially, Harbinger of Hatred lunges from the shadows to attack with devastating abilities, and as the fight progresses, he manifests Gateways to gain aid from his fellow kin.

Devastating Crunch

Harbinger of Hatred quickly crunches in front of him, dealing high damage.

• Watch for the the animation of him opening his mouth and step beside him.

Mephisto's Corruption

Three large circles emerge near the player, and after a short duration, they detonate for a large amount of damage and create a void zone on the ground.

• Watch for the circle underneath you, and use a mobility skill or run out of it to avoid the damage.

Corrupted Barrage

The Harbinger of Hatred takes a moment to prepare himself, before unleashing a barrage of Corruption and Fire in front of him.

• When the fire appears in the boss' mouth, move either to the sides or behind the boss to avoid the attack.

Orbs of Hatred

The Harbinger of Hatred uses his tentacles to produce orbs of pure hatred. After a few seconds, the orbs turn into multiple projectiles, firing towards the player's location.

• The projectiles are rather slow, allowing you to move

Hateful Lunge

The Harbinger of Hatred lunges from a nearby portal, dealing devastating damage in its path before disappearing again.

• Quickly run out of the boss' path to avoid being run over.

Environmental Hazards

Each 25% of his HP, Harbinger of Hatred's kin emerges from the activated gateways and becomes an environmental hazard.

Gates of Malice

The Harbinger of Hatred's kin runs at you from a nearby gateway, immediately killing you upon contact.

• Quickly run out of their paths to avoid being run over.
• Use the nearby power left by Akarat to destroy the gateways.

Useful Tips!

Before heading out, consider a quick stop at the Alchemist to pick up a Elixir of Shadow Resistance II to help counter his Shadow abilities.

Each Boss has a different loot table of Uniques and cosmetic item(s), with a chance of dropping the highly sought-after Mythic Unique items. How loot is distributed and rewarded has been changed with Season 8, and is now tied to using the Boss Lair Keys.

To receive loot, you must use 4x Abhorrent Heart to open the Hoard. You get these from killing Urivar in the Fields of Judgement. The Hoard will have 2 Unique items in Torment 1, granting one extra for each Torment difficulty increase. You also have a 33% chance to get 1 additional item per party member.

Unique Loot table

The items listed below have an increased chance to drop from this Boss. You can still find items that aren't on the list, and you are not guaranteed to find a Unique every time you kill the boss.

Mythic Uniques

• All bosses have a chance to drop Mythic Unique items.
• These items are very powerful and very rare.

Most endgame builds use one of these items. Thankfully, the Boss ladder encounters have a greater chance of dropping them. This means you can focus on any boss that drops regular Unique items you are looking to obtain or upgrade while still having a chance at a Mythic Unique.

Cosmetic Reward

It is currently unknown if Harbinger of Hatred has an exclusive cosmetic reward when you defeat him.
