Introduction

Ability Stones play a big role in building your character and improving its strength. A sizeable amount of Vitality and the majority of your Engraving Points are provided by them. However, to create the perfect Ability Stone a lot of luck and dedication will be needed. Let's jump into the guide and learn all about them!

Overview

Similar to Endgame Accessories, Ability Stones provide you with 2 random Combat Engravings (these cannot include Class Specific Engravings) and 1 Malus Stat. They must be reforged at the Ability Stone Cutter NPC before you can equip them.

Based on the rarity of the stone you gain access to more attempts and therefore more Engraving Points:

  • Rare Ability Stone - 6 points
  • Epic Ability Stone - 8 points
  • Legendary Ability Stone - 9 points
  • Relic Ability Stone - 10 points

Checkout our Engraving Guide to learn more about how this system benefits you!

The NPC to cut your Ability Stones is found in all major cities as a blue diamond icon on the map.

These stones are mostly obtained through your daily and weekly activities as drops or rewards.

Cutting Process

Ability Stone Cutting Window

Before cutting your stone, decide if you want to use it, sell it on the Auction House or trade it to your friends. It is also possible to send it to another character in your roster without consuming Pheons. As initiating the process will otherwise bind the stone to you forever, making it untradable!

Interact with the Stone Cutter NPC, select an Ability Stone you're willing to invest in, and get to work!

  • Your initial attempt always has a 75% chance to succeed. Focus this attempt on your most desirable Engraving by clicking on the hammer icon. Each try consumes a set amount of Silver.
  • Unlocking a point reduces the success rate of your next attempt by 10%, while raising it by 10% after failed attempts and leaving an empty space in the process. This success rate can never go below 25% or exceed 75%.
  • Use high success rate attempts (55% or higher) on your desired Battle Engravings.
  • Focus low success rate attempts (45% or lower) on your Malus Stat.
  • Manage the percentages to obtain the most points for your Battle Engravings possible.
  • Total points unlocked between your Battle Engravings (in our example 11 or more) grant you extra Vitality. Points from the Malus Stat are not accounted in this statistic!
  • Avoid reaching +5 points into your Malus Stat, as it will unlock a negative Level 1 effect. Learn more about these in our Engraving Guide.
  • Use up all Positive and Negative forging attempts! Your Ability Stone cannot be equipped before this process is done and won't count as completed otherwise.

Dismantle and Exchange

Powder of Mystery Exchange

Before dismantling, check if the stone has good Engraving combinations. Consider selling those you can't benefit from on the Auction House, as other players can! These can be worth a sizeable amount of Gold.

Didn't like your outcome? Maybe the stone has bad Engravings? Simply dismantle it and gain back a small portion of its original worth in Powders of Mystery. Accumulate these over time and exchange them at the Stone Cutter NPC for fresh Ability Stones. Roughly 10 dismantled stones will grant you enough Powder of Mystery to purchase one back.
