New Timeless Conflict & Devour Support

Trial of the Ancestors 3.22

Last Updated:August 9, 2023

In today's Path of Exile 3.22 Trial of the Ancestors Teasers, the new Devour Support Gem and Timeless Conflict Atlas Passive Keystone were revealed.

New Devour Support

The new Devour Support Consumes corpses on kill to restore your Life and Mana. This effect is similar to the Feast from The Devouring Diadem. Because Devour Support triggers when the supported Skill kills an enemy, you may need to sacrifice a damage link on your main Skill. For example, Life Gain on Hit Support rarely gets used despite giving a ton of Life Sustain to Attack builds. You only see it in builds in builds that have a utility Skill like Corrupting Fever Champion or Manaforged Arrows.

Devour Consuming corpses may open up some interesting scaling options via the Necromancer Ascendancy's Corpse Pact but that sounds like a job for CaptainLance9. Alternatively, if Devour supports Spell Skills you could run something like Cast when Damage Taken Support, Storm Brand, Devour Support and Culling Strike Support for extra healing in your Map. Though, because it triggers on kill, these benefits are lost in a boss fight which is where you may need them the most.

Timeless Conflict Keystone

Like with Delirium, Legion is completed on a timer. The Unending Nightmare removes this timer from your Delirium while Timeless Conflict does the same for your Legion.

New Eternal Conflict Atlas Passive Keystone

This eliminates the time pressure, but without knowing how many kills are required to trigger the Schism it's difficult to know how useful this is. Generals, Sergeants, and Chests contribute more towards Schism so you want to go for the most valuable rewards first then, break a general out towards the end.

But it also gives players time to think, to pick and choose the rewards they want, skipping a weapon reward to grab extra currency for example. Builds that have great clear like Tornado Shot don't need this Keystone, but a build with good damage, and poor projection (coverage) can use this to maximize their Legion rewards.

Hungry for More?

The Atlas keystones introduced so far focus in simplifying league mechanics and eliminating time pressures. This changes the way players interact with it, making things appealing to someone who otherwise might have found it uncomfortable or frustrating. The new Support gems look to expand existing playstyles while supporting new ones. The new Keystone Timeless Conflict cuts down on the time pressure from Legion, but it's a little difficult to see where Devour Support fits in since it requires both kills and corpses.
