Tornado Shaman Guide
Last Updated:April 11, 2025|Changelog
Summon the fury of the storm with this Tornado Shaman Guide as you strike down foes from afar. This build invokes Tornados onto the battle field that rapidly call Storm Bolts down on enemies in an enormous area. Speed through monoliths and destroy bosses with this outstanding build.
Place down long lasting Tornados on the battlefield that rapidly cast Storm Bolts thanks to Charged Storm for huge Lightning damage. Gathering Storm allows you to drastically increase the damage of those storm bolts while Summon Spriggan, Warcry and Maelstrom offers you some amazing offensive and defensive bonuses. Since you are not casting Gathering Storm manually, you can equip an unspecialised Fury Leap for mobility.
This setup doesn't require any Uniques to function. However, items like Wrongwarp, Mad Alchemist's Ladle, Tempest Maw and Eye of Storms offer great offensive options while Mantle of the Pale Ox and Twisted Heart of Uhkeiros are musts for their defensive bonuses
Overall this is an amazing Shaman build that performs well in endgame, even in Hardcore. If you are looking for summon a might tempest that decimates the battlefield with insane defence, then this is the build for you!

Skills
Tornado
Tornado is a long lasting turret of damage that strikes enemies with Storm Bolt from Charged Storm. Maxing out the frequency with Frequent Lightning, the duration from Lasting Storm and a 100% double cast chance from Hurricane gives you 14 Storm Bolts per Tornado cast. The challenge is compensating for the hefty mana cost and drives you towards Mana Regeneration and Foot of the Mountain.
- If Summon Spriggan is dying too frequently, consider swapping the skill for Summon Thorn Totem. The ability provides less useful buffs, but can be effective at blocking projectiles.
Skills showcase extra Skill Points in case you find +Level of Skills that may not be included in the Planners.
Passives
- Drop Protective Circle if additional Resistances are not needed. Gift of the Skies and Elder Branch are good options.
- Fist of Stone is a great source of additional Endurance if needed.
Make sure to complete the Campaign to get all your Passive Points.
Gameplay
Skill Usage/Rotation
- Use Warcry off cooldown.
- Use Maelstrom once after Warcry.
- Spam Tornado.
- Use Fury Leap for mobility.
- Summon Spriggan to resummon your spriggan
Bossing
- Optimise your mana with Foot of the Mountain in arena and bosses fights by standing still where possible. You are very tanky thanks to the dodge conversion, but make sure you know what damage you can soak.
- Negate devastating strikes from enemies by timing your Warcry to go Invulnerable for 1 second thanks to Juggernaut.
Gear, Idols & Blessings
- Tornado is a costly skill to spam, so Mana Regeneration is a great affix to help you manage your Mana. Consider applying it to a Julra's Stardial and using it and a Mad Alchemist's Ladle early on. When you have more gear, minimise the mana cost with a -5 Reduced Spell Mana Cost Wrongwarp and use the buff from Foot of the Mountain.
- Key defensive items such as Twisted Heart of Uhkeiros and Red Ring of Atlaria are musts for any build that can utilise their powerful effects.
- Since Storm Bolt gains flat spell damage instead of % Increased Damage from Attunement, items such as Eye of Storms and Wrongwarp are extremely valuable for maximising damage.
- Redirecting and Delaying Damage Taken is a new mechanic this patch that is extremely potent. Mantle of the Pale Ox is an absolute must for this build as all damage is be Redirected to your Spriggan or Totems. Grasp of the Blood Mage is also a potent option.
- New weaver idols and idol enchanting is a very powerful way to add flexibility to your build. They can cover missing resistances or boost highly desired stats, always be on the look out to fix up those missing holes in your gearing strategy.

Scaling Tips
- Storm Bolt gains Added Spell Damage from Attunement as well as any Added Melee Damage on axes or maces. This is why you stack Attunement and use a Tempest Maw. This makes you favour gearing for % Increased Damage in other areas.
- Convert your Dodge Rating into Endurance Threshold while under the effects of Foot of the Mountain. You gain Added Dodge Rating from Attunement via our Summon Spriggan and Increased Dodge Rating via Maelstrom stacks. Increased dodge rating on gear may be desirable such as the Vipertail.
- Protective Circle: Gain up to 15% Physical and Elemental Resistance per Totem which by default is capped at 2. The Shaman mastery also grants 50% Elemental Resistance if a Totem is active.
