Time Rot Void Knight Guide
Last Updated:April 12, 2025|Changelog
The Time Rot Void Knight has quickly skyrocketed into the meta with the release of the Tombs of the Erased patch. Time Rot is a Void damage over time ailment, capped at 12 stacks, which previously limited its damage potential. However, this patch has added a new way to scale the ailment with the Void Knight passive Rot Grip. Alongside this, reforged items have been introduced that allow players to benefit from the Forgotten Knight set bonuses. This has given scaling options to make Time Rot one of the highest damaging builds in the game.
Time Rot is limited in its stacks so you want to ensure that you are applying it only with skills that have large more damage multiplier. As such, Devouring Orb becomes an ideal applicator thanks to All Consuming and Eternal Decay. This guide covers the Devouring Orb version, however, Shield Rush and Erasing Strike are equally viable with a small sacrifice in damage for quality of life so experiment to find the style that suits you.
This setup doesn't require any Uniques to function.
Overall this powerful Void Knight is a top tier build that performs well in endgame, including Hardcore. If you are looking for a corrupted knight that destroys enemies with time itself and is able to survive the hardest encounters, this build is perfect for you!

Skills
Devouring Orb
Devouring Orb is your primary damage dealer and offers a unique playstyle with All Consuming. When you cast Devouring Orb over an existing orb, it consumes it and all other active orbs to create one amalgamated orb. Each consumed orb adds to the hefty 100% more damage multiplier, but has reduced ailment damage. As such, the optimal amount to consume is 8, with the damage multiplier parabolically decreasing with more and less orbs consumed. World Rot applies a Time Rot stack per second while adding Time Rot chance to the subskills Void Rift and Abyssal Orb.
- You can drop Rebuke for Abyssal Echoes to gain damage from Crumbling, Embrace the Darkness, and Abyssal Tendrils if you are after more DPS, but beware the mana management constraints.
Skills showcase extra Skill Points in case you find +Level of Skills that may not be included in the Planners.
Passives
- If you're lacking Block Chance, allocate 3 Points into Steel Aegis. Take 2 points out of Eternal Form and 1 out of Rot Ripples.
- Abyssal Fluctuation can be a great defensive choice as well, especially on fights like Aberroth.
Make sure to complete the Campaign to get all your Passive Points.
Gameplay
Skill Usage/Rotation
- Volatile Reversal to guarantee an echo and drag all active orbs with you.
- Cast Devouring Orb but do not overlap existing orbs.
- After repeating step 1. and 2. for four times, cast Devouring Orb on an existing orb to consume them all.
- Repeat above steps, and use Anomaly on high HP enemies.
Bossing
- Chain Volatile Reversal into Devouring Orb four times to create your 8 orbs.
- Consume orbs with Devouring Orb.
- Pop Anomaly.
- Maintain the buffs from Volatile Reversal and if applicable, Rebuke.
- Avoid casting any more Devouring Orb as the weaker orbs overwrite your powerful Time Rot Stacks.
- Pop Anomaly again.
- Repeat from step 1.
- In an emergency, Symbols of Hope can also be used for a 25% Damage Reduction bonus.
Gear, Idols & Blessings
- Rot Grip is your big scaling damage so start with Chance to inflict Time Rot on Hit Idols and Chance To Inflict Time Rot on hit with Void Skills on your Helmet and Body Armour.
- Get the Forgotten Knight set bonus by dismantling the set items at The Great Bridge woven echo and applying the Blade of the Forgotten Knight Reforged, Defiance of the Forgotten Knight Reforged, and Locket of the Forgotten Knight Reforged affixes to your One-Handed Sword, Shield, and Amulet respectively. The Sword and Shield affix tiers are unimportant but the Amulet affix is desirable to max.
- Atrophy is perfect for the Slow on Hit as well as the Time Rot Duration. Likewise, you pick up Vipertail for the Slow on Hit and Melee Attack Speed.
- Be sure to carefully balance your Cast Speed, Melee Attack Speed, and Throwing Attack Speed as you only benefit from the lowest value.
- Feel free to swap out the boots for other great generic boots such as Blood of the Exile, just prioritise getting Movement Speed on them.
- The rings are completely optional and there are plenty of suitable choices including Exalted rings. Use these slots to help with resistances.
