Introduction

N6GoD4 Solo Push/Speeds
View all variants

The Gears of Dreadlands Hungering Arrow GoD Demon Hunter made its entry during Season 21 and immediately surged to the top of all builds in the game, especially in solo pushing. This has been adjusted in patch 2.7.0 with a cap (max. 4) to the amount of pierces the arrow is allowed to do, but it remains an absolute powerhouse for farming.

Although using the dedicated main set for the Hungering Arrow build is more effective, it is possible to combine its (4) Bonus with the Natalya's Vengeance (6) Bonus that has a similar damage multiplier. This way you can achieve the same excellent mobility with slightly less damage and create an all-around setup for T16 farming and one of the best builds to push the Natalya's Vengeance leaderboard.

The build focuses on Strafe and Hungering Arrow to deal damage, which is done semi-automatically by hitting targets around you. The core of the build is the Gears of Dreadlands (4) Bonus that will automatically fire your last used Primary whenever you hit an enemy with Strafe. This allows you to deal damage while moving. The (2) Bonus gives you Momentum, a stacking Movement Speed and Damage buff. This bonus stacks up to a total of 160% Movement Speed letting you literally fly through the rifts while destroying everything in your path. Rain of Vengeance will be needed to activate the Natalya's Vengeance damage buff.

The build and gameplay itself are easy to learn. However, when it comes to optimizing the setup (especially in solo pushing), there are a lot of details and intricate mechanics to consider. Make sure to check out the Mechanics section below to catch all the important information.

Core Setup

Core Item Build

Items

  • 5 pieces of the Natalya's Vengeance set including Ring and Weapon are required. The (6) Bonus gives us 60% damage reduction and a 14,000% damage bonus after using Rain of Vengeance.
  • 3 pieces of the Gears of Dreadlands set including Shoulders are required to automate Hungering Arrow casts while providing great bonuses: x3 damage through the (2) Bonus and the (4) Bonus that can be roughly counted as a x2-2.5 multiplier due to effectively providing hidden extra Attack Speed. Finally, the set gives you 60% damage reduction and up to 160% Movement Speed while using Strafe.
  • Ring of Royal Grandeur is needed to combine both sets.
  • The Ninth Cirri Satchel is the core legendary item of the build, adding 100% pierce chance to Hungering Arrow (up to 4 times) as well as an up to 600% multiplicative damage increase.
  • Hunter's Wrath is another high-value DPS item, providing a 30% Attack Speed bonus to your Primaries (which makes keeping up Momentum stacks easier) as well as another 200% multiplicative damage bonus.
  • Dawn can be either worn or cubed, depending on how well your quiver rolled. It will help you to reach permanent Vengeance uptime.
  • Depth Diggers provide another 100% multiplicative damage increase to Hungering Arrow.
  • Squirt's Necklace is a powerful amulet giving up to 100% extra damage if you avoid being hit or have a Shield Pylon.

Season 27 Sanctified Items

Angelic Crucibles are new consumables that drop anywhere once you're Level 70. Using them on items reforges them into Sanctified Items with Primal Ancient stats, and adds one of three new unique Class Powers listed below. For full details on how they work, check out this Seasonal Guide by Chewingnom!

Let's look at our Class Powers and see how they apply to our build:

  1. The best power for us is the Sanctified Vengeance. It occasionally fires extra Rockets we can use to deal some damage to elites or bosses.
  2. The Sanctified Strafe power doesn't help us, so go for the one listed above.
  3. The Sanctified Cluster Arrow power doesn't help us, so go for the one at the top.

Since you can only equip one of them, choosing the right item to craft it on matters! Great candidates are Weapons, Offhands, Jewelry or any item with an important multiplier. With that in mind, we recommend Sanctifying one of the following items:

  • The Ninth Cirri Satchel
  • Hunter's Wrath
  • Squirt's Necklace

Global Stat Priorities

The most important for almost any DH build is reaching permanent Vengeance uptime. This is achievable through the 65% Cooldown Reduction effect provided by Dawn and having 37% Cooldown Reduction on your character. You will always use Flawless Royal Diamond in your helmet slot, 10% from Paragon Points and 8% on your Shoulders. The rest will typically be rolled on your Weapons (especially if dual wielding), or your Gloves + Quiver (if using one Weapon). If you are wearing a Dawn and it has less than 64-63% on the legendary affix, you should consider adding a 4th Cooldown item to make up for it, as any lower will leave you with a significant gap in your Vengeance uptime.

6572 Strafe As Breakpoint
Strafe Attack Speed Breakpoints

This build uses specific Attack Speed Breakpoints for optimal damage output depending on your Weapon, due to the Gears of Dreadlands (4) Bonus (see Mechanics).

Aside from that, stack damage stats wherever possible, especially Crit stats, Cold Damage, Hungering Arrow Damage, and lastly Area Damage in this order of priority. For your defensive stats you need to focus on increasing the your raw toughness value. Since almost all of your recovery is based on percentage-based healing from Simplicity's Strength there's no reason to prioritize mitigation over health pool. Physical Resistance is also extremely useful, as you will generally move very close to your enemies and most of the incoming damage is of that type. Because of that, you should always use Flawless Royal Diamond in your Chest and Pants sockets.

Nephalem Rifts

GR Solo Push & Speeds
N6GoD4 T16

Due to the Gears of Dreadlands bonuses, this setup constitutes a great Torment farming build due to it's incredible Movement Speed (with 160% bonus baked into the 2-piece set), really high damage and ability to deal damage while moving. The great advantage when using Natalya's Vengeance is combining it with Cain's Destiny while playing in groups and still being able to finish the Rift Guardian in mere seconds by just swapping 3 items!

Concept
The idea here is to stack lots of movement speed while still being able to kill most big enemies quickly as you pass by. To achieve this, we use the whole arsenal: Boon of the Hoarder, Tactical Advantage and Rechel's Ring of Larceny (try to get Fear on Hit on your helmet, weapon and quiver). Your follower assists you with Avarice Band, Nemesis Bracers, The Flavor of Time, Sage's Journey and Cain's Destiny. Blood Vengeance will help you spam your mobility skills without stacking too much Resource Cost Reduction.

Gameplay
Cast Rain of Vengeance once every 10 seconds. Keep up Momentum at 17 or more, spam your mobility skill Smoke Screen Displacement and Strafe away! You don't have to wait until enemies are dead, Hungering Arrows will continue to fly around for a few seconds after you're gone; just make sure to keep an eye out for star icons on the minimap.

Setups
In groups you have to change your setup slightly due to the missing follower. Nemesis Bracers needs to be equipped. We also drop Rechel's Ring of Larceny for Avarice Band.

If you want to maximize your Greater Rift Keystone farming efficiency in groups where you have to kill the Rift Guardian, you can do the "Cain's Swap" when the boss spawns. For this you will keep a Convention of Elements (socketed with Bane of the Trapped) and two pieces of Cain's Destiny that replace 2 of your GoD pieces in your inventory and kill the Rift Guardian by manually casting Hungering Arrow. As the Convention of Elements cycle will start on the Cold element, you want to equip it exactly when you are ready to attack the Rift Guardian. 25% extra keys will easily compensate for the small trouble and boost your group-farming efficiency significantly!

At high Paragon (3000+), you can also play the same setup with the Hungering Arrow Shatter Shot Lightning rune for better AoE clear. Remember to change the elemental bonuses on your items too.

N6GoD4 Bounties

Gears of Dreadlands is among the top Bounty builds in the game and competitive with UE Multishot DH due to its insane mobility. Since this setup works almost the same, it can also be used, but your main priority is to transition to the full GoD DH as soon as possible.

Concept
This Bounty build tries to maximize Movement Speed more than anything. For that we have a whole host of skills and items: Displacement, Hot Pursuit, Warzechian Armguards and Rechel's Ring of Larceny.

Gameplay
Cast Rain of Vengeance once every 10 seconds. Refresh your Momentum at 17 stacks, spam your mobility skill Smoke Screen Displacement and Strafe away! When you are teleporting to the next quest with mobs around, try to do it fast because the defensive buff from Gears of Dreadlands (4) Bonus only lasts 5 seconds.

Setups
If your damage is high, you can drop Zei's Stone of Vengeance for Wreath of Lightning to add some more speed. Arriving at your destination quickly is great but useless if you can't kill anything.

Be aware that this build deals only Cold damage and you might encounter a particular Cold-immune monster in the "Demon Cache" bounty in Act 5 (Battlefields of Eternity). Switch your Hungering Arrow rune for that one.

N6GoD4 Solo Push/Speeds

This is the setup described in the main sections of the guide. It has strong similarity with the full Gears of Dreadlands build and mostly lacks the flexibility in items & skills and some damage in comparison. The same setup described here will also be used for Greater Rift Speedfarming. The main purpose of this build is to get ranked on the Natalya's Vengeance set leaderboard if you denounce the Natalya Rapid Fire build.

Concept
This setup focuses on maximizing damage output and toughness: We use Convention of Elements, Wraps of Clarity and an array of powerful offensive or defensive passives.

Gameplay
Cast Rain of Vengeance once every 10 seconds. While preparing a pull, don't freeze enemies that you want to gather up and throw it into a random empty corner instead. Only once everything is grouped up you should cast Rain of Vengeance directly into the gathered enemies. Use your Convention of Elements rotations and mow everything down during the Cold cycle. Jump into Oculus Rings when you see them to boost your damage. Protect your Squirt's Necklace as much as you can by using Smoke Screen and Flying Strike with the right timing.

Setups
If you are struggling with resources or survivability, replace Archery with Perfectionist or Awareness.

Summary

  • Reach the necessary Cooldown Reduction for permanent Vengeance (37% with a perfect Dawn).
  • Always cast Rain of Vengeance at least once every 10 seconds to gain your set bonus.
  • Get the Momentum buff to 20 and keep it above 17 at all times by using your Hungering Arrow.
  • Use Strafe the rest of the time to move and DPS.
  • Activate your defensive skills where necessary.

We hope you enjoyed this guide! This build can be a great season starter and helpful for the extra keys in T16 and strong for placing on the Natalya's Vengeance leaderboard. If you're looking for a stronger endgame version of this setup, take a look at the GoD DH guide!
