Overview
Hero Talents
- As it currently standsScalecommander Is the recommended choice across most raid content.
- Chronowarden is extremely competitive and can be better but requires optimal usage of Golden Opportunity and having perfect Ebon Might targets including the proximity targets.
- Temporal Burst turns Tip the Scales into a strong offensive cooldown that increases your Haste and cooldown recovery rate.
- The increased Haste, movement Speed and cooldown recovery rate buff effect is reduced by 1% every second during the 30s duration of Temporal Burst.
- The total reduced cooldown of your abilities is 4.65 seconds.
- Warp transforms your normal Hover into a Blink
- Be cautious as this has a small delay.
- This currently only works when you are on or close to solid ground, if you are too high up in the air it becomes a normal Hover.
- Similar to your Mastery Threads of Fate causes your Empowered spells to provide an additional damage buff.
- This ability follows the same Targeting Priority as Shifting Sands.
- When timed correctly Temporality can be very strong as a minor defensive cooldown whenever you are out of everything else.
- Golden Opportunity
- This effect has now become chance based which complicates maximizing your output.
- Mass Eruption
- Fire Breath and Upheaval changes your next Eruption into a Mass Eruption that either strikes up to 3 targets or deals increased damage for each target less than 3.
- Mass Eruption can stack up to 2 which means you can cast both empower abilities back to back.
- Bombardments Is the major interaction of Scalecommander.
- Bombardments does not pandemic which allows you to cast two Mass Eruptions in a row without losing debuff uptime.
- This also maximizes Wingleader and allows you to make Breath of Eons a 1.5 minute cooldown when optimized.
- Diverted Power significantly increases the uptime of Momentum Shift.
- Hardened Scales and Nimble Flyer are both extremely effective defensive options and such should almost always be taken.
- Slipstream restores both charges of your Hover if Aerial Mastery is talented.
- This can be extremely useful in certain fights if additional Hover uptime is needed.
- Maneuverability
- Causes your Breath of Eons to always be aimed in front of your character and can now be steered.
- This also makes Breath of Eons fly the entire duration unless you cancel it early by pressing the ability once more.
- Be careful to not spam your Breath of Eons keybind as you might cancel it before it hits your target while still going on cooldown.

- Breath of Eons
- Used as your major offensive cooldown in combination with Ebon Might and Prescience.
- Essence Burst
- Causes Eruption to apply Momentum Shift.
- Imminent Destruction

- Symbiotic Bloom
- Inferno's Blessing
- Shifting Sands
Class Tree
- Rescue
- Use to save your friends by moving them or utilizing Twin Guardian.
- Optionally, use it as your own personal defensive in certain fights.
- Zephyr
- Used to reduce AOE damage across the entire party.
- Tip the Scales
- Used to activate Temporal Burst
- Used generally with Fire Breath
- Source of Magic
- Potent Mana buffs a friendly healer.

- Allows your entire party and raid to cast their major movement cooldown without inducing a cooldown.
- Cauterizing Flame

- Oppressing Roar
- Used whenever there are crowd control requirements to fights.
- Overawe is used either as an enrage dispel or if the cooldown reduction is necessary.
Hero Talents

- Outperforms and is easier to play than Time Convergence.
- Instability Matrix

Spec Tree

Hero Talents
Changed Chronowarden to Scalecommander for more info visit the Hero Talent section above.
- Hardened Scales
- Your default pick since it can save you from having to use multiple defensives.
- Menacing Presence currently applies on immune targets, this will most likely be fixed.
- Diverted Power
- Outperforms Extended Battle with current tuning.
- Nimble Flyer
- Small damage reduction from AoE abilities but can still be the difference between living or dying.
Rotation
Tier Set
- 2-Set: Your damaging spells have a chance to hit a Jackpot!, causing an Upheaval at 100% effectiveness that does not knock enemies up. Casting Breath of Eons always hits a Jackpot!
- 4-Set: Your Upheaval have a 50% chance to grant Essence Burst. Eruptions cast with Essence Burst deal 25% increased damage.
Single-Target
Opener
- Your goal is to have Ebon Might and Prescience on as many optimal targets as possible and then start the uptime battle for Momentum Shift. Below, you see an example of how your opener looks like using the recommended Single-Target talent spec.
- As for who to buff, in most guilds/pugs this ends up being your biggest pumpers.
- There is an alternate opener starting with Ebon Might before using Prescience. The reasoning for this opener is that it allows you to choose 4 targets instead of only 2.
- You should always do this if possible.
Priority List
This is a general priority you aim to maintain throughout the fight.
- Prescience on assigned targets and timings
- Ebon Might on assigned timings
- When refreshing Ebon Might attempt to refresh it around 5.5s left on the buff.
The priority list is split up due to the fact that your Buffs follow another set of rules than your ordinary Priority List.
- Cast Breath of Eons
- Cast Fire Breath -- Use Tip the Scales when available
- Cast Eruption if Essence Burst stacks = 2
- Cast Upheaval Empower 1
- Cast Chrono Flame if Momentum Shift stacks = 2 and Essence < 3
- Cast Eruption
- Cast Chrono Flame or Azure Strike

Deep Dive
Upheaval and Essence Burst
- Not wasting Essence Bursts is important.
- With both Rockfall and the 4-set bonus you have
- 30% chance to gain two Essence Burst.
- 80% chance to gain one Essence Burst.
- Considering the above you want to make sure to ideally have 0 Essence Burst up at the point of casting Upheaval.
- With both Rockfall and the 4-set bonus you have
Golden Opportunity
- Playing optimally with Golden Opportunity can be finicky without the aid of certain WeakAuras.
- To play Golden Opportunity efficiently, you need two separate assignments. One which accounts for optimal damage in a normal Prescience and Ebon Might and a separate list which shows the best target for a double duration Prescience and two cycles of Ebon Might.
Rescue
- Rescue is a great part of your toolkit as an Evoker. Using it optimally requires fight awareness, especially in raids but can often save your less mobile allies from sticky situations.
- When you don't need Rescue for its movement part, you should be looking to use it for the very potent defensive effect Twin Guardian as often as possible.
Hover
- Managing and timing your Hover casts correctly in combat to get more casts in while dealing with mechanics is where you see the biggest difference in your DPS. Optimizing your rotation is not that complex for Augmentation Evoker.
- Starting a cast of a spell such as Eruption at the very end of a Hover buff still lets you finish that specific cast while moving. Keep this in mind to get more benefit from each use of Hover!
- Make sure you are tracking your uptime and charges of Hover on your UI. Get really comfortable with utilizing this ability as it is the most significant unique strength of an Evoker.
Ebon Might Target Priority
In War Within this is once again a major optimization for your output. When applying Ebon Might through either Breath of Eons or casting Ebon Might it follows a list as to who it targets.
The following table showcases Ebon Might's application priority from top to bottom.
Priority | Your Ebon Might is | A different Ebon Might is | Your Prescience is |
---|---|---|---|
1. Any target | Active | - | - |
2. Any target | Not Active | - | Active |
3. Closest DPS | Not Active | Not Active | - |
4. Closest non-DPS | Not Active | Not Active | - |
5. Closest DPS | Not Active | Active | - |
6. Closest non-DPS | Not Active | Active | - |
Understanding Mechanics
Rotational min-maxing is just one aspect of mastering a specialization, but there are numerous other key mechanics that influence your performance. Use the following guides to improve them.
Liberation of Undermine
The following tips are mainly applicable to Heroic Bosses. Mythic tips are released after our progression concludes.

- You can also Rescue bomb soakers back towards the boss.
Offensive Cooldown Usage
Boss Tips
- Reward: Flame and Coin is the biggest damage event on this boss.
- Make sure to use as much defensives as needed to live.
- Hot Hot Heat is also dangerous if targeted.
- When possible make sure to hit Reel Attendants with Breath of Eons.
Stat Priority
Understand your secondary stat priority and the tertiary stats needed for optimal performance during Raid boss fights as a Augmentation Evoker. For more detailed information, visit the Stats and Attributes guide.
- Aim towards roughly 18-20% Haste.
Higher Item level items are better in most scenarios. Generally you can find stat weights in the Evoker Augmentation discord. In the BiS gear there is more haste than technically optimal according to sims, but having more haste smoothens out the spec and makes it simpler to play.
- All secondary stats are affected by diminishing returns. Click here to learn more!
Tertiary
- Avoidance - Great stat to reduce the damage intake of "Area of Effect" abilities.
- Leech - Provides additional healing through damage dealing. Most of your damage comes from buffed players, thus it becomes not optimal.
- Speed - Niche tertiary that can be very useful and has been proven useful in the past. Makes playing certain mechanics a lot easier.

Active Trinket alternatives
- Geargrinder's Spare Keys
- Very strong active, can replace Suspicious Energy Drink.
- Signet of the Priory
- Strong farmable option for early gearing.
Passive Trinket alternatives
- Reverb Radio
- Amazing passive alternative to Suspicious Energy Drink.
- Sigil of Algari Concordance
- Spawn an Earthen which will deal damage alongside you.
- Mug's Moxie Jug]
- Passive crit buff that is good for Chronowarden.
Embellishments
As for your first Spark item its almost always the most efficient to craft either a staff or offhand.
- 1x Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension
- Use this ONLY if you craft a staff or offhand.
Remaining Sparks
- Crafted items are 675 item level and regular items are 678 at max item level, therefore it is not beneficial to equip crafted items outside of your 2x embellishments unless you don't have access to other high item level gear on that slot.
Simcraft
To find the best combination of gear available to you or identify the best possible upgrades, visit our Simcraft guide to learn how to utilize Simcraft easily and effectively.
Augmentation Evoker is now technically supported on Raidbots, but they are very early alpha, and you are most likely gonna get weird results.
- If you end up having issues with the simulations and have questions I might not be able to help, for such issues, you could need to ask in the Evoker Discord.
- DO NOT use Stat Weights Sims, they only affect your personal damage. As such, you won't be given relevant results.
- Use only Top Gear and Droptimizer.
- RDPS or "Raid DPS" is the damage dealt by your entire group. This is done because Augmentation is a Support that buffs other DPS therefore they are required for it to operate. Due to this and a few factors mentioned below, sims do not output the contribution of the Augmentation Evoker individually and can only provide comparisons. Thankfully, comparisons are all you need to optimize gear or talent choices.

Log Review
- With pre-patch, roughly 50-55% of your damage as Augmentation is strictly from your buffs. Due to that, it is vital to buff the correct targets. For the easiest time, you look at Details and buff the top 4 players. The next stage is utilizing Warcraftlogs and buffing the top 4 DPS. For the last stage, you manually input your timings into Warcraftlogs and make decisions upon that.
- This Section is a WIP and is going to be continuously updated.
