Hieronymus Boss Guide

Last Updated:June 10, 2025|Changelog

Hieronymus is the final boss of Wizard of Legend 2. Though primarily a purveyor of Chaos Skills, as a Wizard of Legend, Hieronymus has mastered all elements and spares none when facing off against up-and-coming Wizards. After defeating the King & Queen, you are taken to Hieronymus's lair. The combat throughout this stage is mostly trivial; it has a Healing Shrine at the beginning and access to Artisan Hasher, Virtuosa Farren, and Esme just before the final Boss. This Boss Guide details Hieronymus's core mechanics and phases, discusses strategies to avoid these mechanics, and demonstrates how to take him down with an example gameplay video.

Hieronymus Boss Fight

Mechanics

Hieronymus is a phased fight and you need to deplete his health bar twice to prove yourself as a Wizard of Legend.

Phase 1

Hieronymus ascends into the air and becomes immune as he tethers himself to two newly-formed wizard statues. The goal of this phase is to destroy these statues to temporarily ground Hieronymus and give yourself a window to deal damage before they reform. While ascended, Hieronymus rains down Chaos Jets in a cross-shaped pattern to thwart your efforts.

The statues themselves spawn Voidlings that chase the player and explode when within a certain range. Additionally, each statue periodically releases a Chaos Nova. Despite their foreboding appearance, these Novas only deal damage along their expanding edges, and do NOT deal damage while you’re inside their ring or when they expire.

Phase 2

Hieronymus's final phase is no joke, as he boasts more than a dozen Arcana spanning every elemental type. The majority of these attacks are those he taught to the elemental bosses (Voltran, Terrus, Mitra, Flo, and Anahita), while the sagely wizard adds his own brand of punishment from a subset of Chaos Arcana. Though you can damage Hieronymus at any point, it's viable to wait for his age and rapid Arcana expenditure to catch up with him. After using an Arcana from each of the 6 elements (which always ends with a Chaos Arcana), he stops to rest, giving you a damage window similar in length to Phase 1.

New Mechanics

  • Chaos Reaper - One of the possible maneuvers at the end of an Arcana spree, Hieronymus swings a scythe toward the player 4 times. This ability is functionally similar to Jabara's Claw attack.
  • Phantom Brigade - Hieronymus summons a legion of Chaos Phantoms, each of which dash once toward the player attempting to attack. This attack is fast but short-ranged, so it can be avoided by a well-timed dash or by not being near its initial cast.
  • Chaos Cubes - Once per fight, typically between 50-75% HP, Hieronymus ends his combo by summoning 3 cubes in a triangle around the arena. These cubes rotate and create long-reaching beams of Chaos from each of their sides. They are easily destroyed, so make that a priority when you see them.
  • Chaos Novas - In a similar triangular pattern as the cubes, the sagely wizard can manifest the Chaos Novas summoned by the wizard statues in Phase 1. Just like last time, avoid the edges of each ring as they expand to stay healthy.
  • Chaotic Ricochet - Hieronymus wields an enhanced version of this signature Arcana. When these bouncing balls of energy come to rest, they explode in a radial nova of smaller orbs. Given that these have already been traveling randomly for some time by this point, it's usually trivial to keep your distance, but don't chase Hieronymus into their explosions.

Returning Mechanics

Hieronymus randomly chooses one of two possible attacks from each elemental Wizard per rotation:

Rewards

Defeating Hieronymus initiates a cutscene, then a victory screen, signifying the successful completion of your run. Afterwards, you may notice the HUB is a little more crowded than usual. Speak to Hieronymus again in town to receive his rewards. First-time completion awards the Insignia Of Legend medallion and one of 12 possible Chaos Arcana. Repeat victories are necessary to unlock the full suite of Chaos Arcana.

Summary

Hieronymus is the final boss of Wizard of Legend 2, located in the sole stage of the fourth zone. He wields primarily Chaos Arcana, but has mastered all elements and uses them to full advantage in the fight's second phase. Defeating Hieronymus successfully ends your run. First-time completion grants a secret Medallion and your first of 12 Chaos Arcana. Continue honing your Chaos mastery through repeated victories.
