Machinist Build Guides

Below, you can find the Machinist build guides for specific content. It's also possible for you to navigate to all of our Machinist guides by visiting our Build Guides category.

The Rating Metrics Explained

SurvivabilityAverage

Almost all of our build guides are now using the metrics shown above to give a new player some basic information about the class. Since each criterion requires a different approach to be evaluated properly, it might be confusing for some players to understand the way we rank those. To be more transparent, we will provide you with some information regarding the way we approached them.

Firstly, you need to know that the play style of some classes changes heavily once you reach a higher tier and unlock powerful set effects. The changes are explained in the build guides themselves, which is why our metrics are only based on the endgame performance of each class.

Secondly, there are some classes with a bigger variety of skill setups and Engraving options within the same build. Based on which Engravings you choose, the play style of the class might change significantly. It might decrease survivability but increase damage. If that's the case for a class, we display the average survivability of it in the metrics above and go into more detail in the build guide itself.

Now a short explanation of each of the metrics:

  • Difficulty is judged based on the “class mechanic” of each class, without including any of the other 3 metrics. Does a class have a simple play style and rotation, it is ranked as less difficult. Classes/builds that have to properly manage resources or have to swap stances to deal optimal damage are ranked as higher difficulty classes.
  • Mobility is ranked based on the number of mobility skills and the main stats of each class. In most cases, a Swiftness focused build provides more mobility than a Specialization focused build.
  • Survivability ranks are determined by the HP & Defense scaling of each class. These are fixed numbers.
  • Positional can be Front Attack or Back Attack, ranked as “none”, “optional”, “beneficial”, “recommended” or “mandatory”. If a class has multiple Back Attack affix skills on top of Tripods and/or Buffs, which further increase their damage positional damage, we would rank it as a Back Attack mandatory class.

Upcoming Changes

Next on our list is updating the Class Guides of some classes, which are heavily affected by the upcoming class balance patch. Even though we don't have an eta for the balance patch, we will use this opportunity to update some outdated sections for those specific classes and restructure the class guides. E.g., Destroy and Artillerist have currently only one Raid Build. But for the upcoming changes, we will split it into 2 different build guides, one for each of the Class Engraving.

On top of writing new content, we are also continuously improving our existing articles and all of you have been a great help.
