Relics

Ironeye Character Guide

Use support-oriented relics to make your team as a whole much stronger. Look for effects like Items confer effect to all nearby allies or Increased rune acquisition for self and allies. Getting levels early makes a huge difference and ensures you do not fall behind the curve. When available, use the relic Night of the Fathom, which is received when killing the Augur Nightlord for the first time. It gives a huge 100 health bump and also has support-oriented passives. Lastly, for your final Relic slot, use a defensive Relic based on which Nightlord is selected. For a more in-depth explanation on how Relics work, check out our Relic and Relic Rites Guide.

Remembrance Relics

The best way to get strong Relics is by completing Remembrances and progressing your Nightfarer's storyline. You also get powerful Relics either as direct rewards for beating the Nightlords, or from the Small Jar Bazaar after defeating a requisite number of Nightlords.

Talismans

Ironeye Character Guide

Teardrop Scarabs can be found throughout Limveld and always drop a talisman when killed. Ironeye uses ranged weapons, thus making the Arrow's Reach Talisman one of the best for him. Doubling your effective range helps you stay even farther out of harm's way. Other talismans that provide defensive boosts should be used to help counter Ironeye's low health pool.

Weapons

Ironeye Character Guide

Ironeye has a stat template that is great for Bows, Great Bows, Crossbows, Hand Cannons, and a variety of lighter melee weapons such as Daggers, Curved Swords, or Short Swords. However, his low starting health makes it difficult to fight at close range. The max hit of Bows is lower than other ranged options, but they have shorter animations that give you more mobility. This allows you to maximize the advantage from playing at range. Out of all the ranged options available, Bows are the only ranged weapon that can be buffed with the consumable Greases.

Greatbows

Greatbows boast better damage per second than standard bows. They knock smaller enemies down and also build more poise damage on larger enemies, making staggering easier. With that being said, they take much longer to draw, thus causing you to be locked into the animation longer. These animations cannot be dodge rolled out of.

Crossbows

Crossbows have slightly more damage than standard bows, but do require a reload. They are great as a secondary burst weapon to be reloaded when not in danger. The reload animation can be canceled with a dodge roll in an emergency.

Misc.

The Jar Cannon and Hand Ballista have the highest base damage of any ranged weapon. They also stagger enemies very easily. However, they take what feels like a full Nightreign day to reload, causing you to be hit by most attacks, especially from bosses. Additionally, the reload animation cannot be canceled, leaving you vulnerable for an extended duration.

Weapons Passive Traits

All equipment found has a passive effect, most of which are active regardless of whether the item is equipped or not. For Ironeye, take items with increased ranged damage. The equipment doesn't have to be weapons typical to the character; on Ironeye, a Sword's passive is just as strong as a Bow's passive. Additionally, take passives that give a defensive bonus which helps against the selected Nightlord. There are only six equipment slots, so use them wisely. If a passive effect has this hand symbol, that means it is only active while you are using the weapon.

Passive Character Traits

Ironeye Character Guide

Also known as traits. These are selectable rewards when opening the caches you get when defeating greater foes. They provide your character with upgrades for the current run. One of these traits gives the player a boost to their maximum health pool. Ironeye starts with a lower health pool so take this trait to help survive the few hits you do take from range. Other passives increase damage types and should be used to take advantage of any weakness' a Nightlord has.

Playstyle

Ironeye Character Guide

Ironeye is a ranged support character, so stay back and pick off enemies from afar. He has a passive that grants more item discovery for your entire team. Pairing this with other relics that provide more runes for you and all allies, setting your team up for victory. Ironeye is also very good at getting fallen teammates back into the fight, without putting himself into danger.

Abilities

Ironeye's character skill Marking applies a weak point to any enemy, increasing their damage taken from all sources. Sustained damage on the marked enemy causes a heavy damage proc similar to Bloodloss or Frostbite. Single Shot is Ironeye's ultimate art; this ultimate fires a powerful arrow that passes through all terrain and enemies. As well as ignoring all defenses. It is also great for reviving teammates.

!
Possible Bug

Single Shot cannot pass through the Totem Stela from Raider, so communicate with any Raider players on your team to avoid their ultimate blocking yours.

Summary

Ironeye has an easy-to-use, supportive, and ranged playstyle. Thus, he is a great starter character to jump into Nightreign with. Ironeye excels in staying out of danger and keeping your team ahead of the curve, as well as giving your team a global damage boost with his Marking ability.
