Relics & Vessels Guide
Last Updated:June 1, 2025|Changelog
In Elden Ring Nightreign, Relics give the Nightfarers a form of passive character power that they can take with them when they embark on Expeditions through Limveld. They are activated by placing them inside a Vessel, such as a Grail or Chalice. The benefits granted by Relics vary greatly; they can be as simple as providing a small numerical increase to a single attribute, or as complex as completely changing a character's playstyle by altering the way their skills function. Furthermore, Relics themselves can be considered one of the biggest grinds the game currently has to offer, since, for the most part, they are rolled entirely at random. This guide teaches you everything you need to know about Relics & Vessels and how to incorporate them to fit your playstyle.

Relic Rites
In order to interact with the Vessels and Relics, you conduct what the game refers to as Relic Rites. In the Roundtable Hold, this is done at the altar that is located nearby, distinguishable by its blue-flamed candles. It can also be accessed via the main menu simply by navigating to the Relic Rites option.

Vessels
Each Nightfarer initially possesses a single Vessel in which they can place Relics - an Urn, to be more specific. These Urns (and every other type of Vessel) have 3 slots with varying color schemes. The starting Vessel of the Raider, for example, is defined by 1 red slot and 2 green ones. The order here doesn't matter, what the colors actually correspond to are the Relics that can be set in them; that is to say, only a Relic with a color of red can be placed into a Vessel's red slot, and so on.

Although only a single Vessel is available for each Nightfarer at the start of your adventure, more can be obtained by progressing through the game, usually by defeating Nightlords and unlocking them in the Small Jar Bazaar or by completing questlines associated with Remembrances. Some Vessels are character specific, while others are universal. A list of all currently known Vessels can be viewed here.

Relics
As mentioned before, Relics come in many different colors, shapes, and sizes and have a ton of variance in what they have to offer. Here are some good examples of what they can do:
Increased Damage
- Fire Attack Power Up +2
- Also comes in all other flavors of elemental affinities, and physical as well.
- Improved Giants' Flame Incantations
- Applicable to most other Incantations, as well as Sorceries.
- Improved Attack Power with 3+ Colossal Swords Equipped
- Improved Bow Attack Power
- All other armaments are also represented in these categories.
Damage Resistance & Negation
- Holy Damage Negation Up
- Other affinities, as well. Swap them around as needed.
- Improved Poison Resistance
- Ailments such as Madness or Scarlet Rot are also represented.
- Improved Damage Negation at Low HP
- Protects you from incoming damage when you need it most!
Character Exclusive Effects
- [Wylder] Art gauge greatly filled when ability is activated
- [Guardian] Slowly restores nearby allies' HP while Art is active
- [Ironeye] Extends duration of weak point
- [Duchess] Dagger chain attack reprises event upon nearby enemies
- [Raider] Damage taken while using Character Skill improves attack power and stamina
- [Recluse] Collecting affinity residue activates Terra Magica
- [Executor] Character Skill Boosts Attack but Attacking Drains HP
- Many of these passives (and others not mentioned here) add depth to your character and change the way they play - experiment to find what works best for you and your party!

Special Relics
Certain Relics in the game are unique in that they are only acquired by fulfilling certain conditions, such as defeating a Nightlord or completing a personal quest during a Remembrance chapter. They always come with the same predetermined stats, some of which can never be found on your typical Relic, and most of the time these are actually quite good! Aside from their unusual stats, they have unique names and artwork that make them easily identifiable.

Database
The amount of passive effects that Relics provide are vast; so much so that it's impossible to cover each and every one in this introductory guide. However, if you're trying to min-max your Nightfarers and are curious about what options are available to you, worry not - we have a database for that! Check it out for a comprehensive list of every passive effect in the game that can appear on Relics.
