Black Myth Wukong Relic and Perk Guide
Last Updated:October 1, 2024|Changelog
As you defeat the final boss of each Chapter, you obtain one of the Relics of Sun Wukong. These offer the Destined One powerful abilities that are often build defining. You obtain 5 Relics throughout your journey, Craving Eyes, Fuming Ears, Hubris Nose, Envious Tongue, and Grieved Body. Then you obtain the 6th Relic Freed Mind by completing Chapter 6 and entering a New Cycle (NG+). To unlock its Perks you need to defeat Erlang, The Sacred Divinity, and get the "secret ending." Each Relic has 3 unique Perks, some of these offer generic passive bonuses, whereas others enhance a specific Spell. In addition to the Perks, you gain unique passive effects for possessing some Relics.
At the start, you're able to select 1 Perk out of the 3 for each Relic. But each time you re-obtain the Relic on your NG+ journey, you gain the ability to allocate an additional Perk point. So if you complete the game (and the secret ending) 3 times you enter NG4 with every Perk active on all your Relics!
Your Perk choices are not permanent, you can respec at any time using a Shrine. Go to the Reignite Sparks menu and select "Relics" at the top. This is free so when you're struggling with a tough fight you should experiment with different Relic abilities.
Craving Eyes
The first Relic you obtain is Craving Eyes, this comes from beating Black Bear Guai at the end of Chapter 1. Craving Eyes offers enhancements for your Light Attack combos, Cloud Step, and Critical Hit Damage. After obtaining Craving Eyes you can automatically identify which Yaoguai drop a Spirit when defeated, look for enemies wreathed in blue flames.
Perk Name | Effect |
---|---|
Opportune Watcher | Considerably increases Focus gained upon consecutive successful Light Attack hits. |
Eagle Eye | Upon a successful hit with Unveiling Strike, the Cooldown of Cloud Step is massively reduced. |
Keen Insight | Considerably increases Critical Hit Damage. |
- Opportune Watcher is a great general-purpose Perk, generating more Focus with your Light Attacks means you can execute charged Heavy Attacks more frequently and heal by consuming Focus points.
- Eagle Eye enhances your Unveiling Strike, this is the special Light Attack you execute when exiting stealth after casting Cloud Step. If you're using Cloud Step defensively this is a great perk, just remember to save enough Mana to cast Cloud Step when you need it!
- Keen Insight gives a Critical Hit Damage bonus, this is a nice passive effect that synergizes well with Crit builds. You can also use this when wearing a Set that gives you a big temporary Crit bonus to deal massive damage with a fully charged Heavy Attack.

Fuming Ears
The second Relic you obtain is Fuming Ears, this comes from beating the Yellow Wind Sage at the end of Chapter 2. Fuming Ears enhances your Varied Combos, Rock Solid, and Perfect Dodge.
Perk Name | Effect |
---|---|
All Ears | Slightly extends the invincibility duration of the first move of all Varied Combos. |
Sound as A Bell | Narrows the window of Rock Solid Deflection, but returns half of the Mana cost of the Spell upon a successful Deflection. |
Whistling Wind | Temporarily increases Attack after a Perfect Dodge. |
- To gain the benefit from All Ears, you need to execute a Varied Combo by starting your Light Attack sequence and then interrupting it with a Heavy Attack. The move you use depends on your Stance, for example, in Thrust Stance you take a small backstep. Overall the benefit from this one is pretty minor.
- Sound as A Bell makes it more difficult to Deflect enemy attacks with the Rock Solid Spell by narrowing the duration but returns half the Mana cost when you succeed. If you're good at timing your Deflections you can get a lot of value out of this passive, but if you don't have good timing you should use something else.
- Whistling Wind increases your Attack after you perfectly dodge an enemy strike. Enemies Attack you a lot, so even when you're not trying to time things perfectly you're going to get a good number of Perfect Dodges. This is one of the strongest Perks in the game!

Hubris Nose
The third Relic you obtain is Hubris Nose, this comes from beating Yellowbrow at the end of Chapter 3. Hubris Nose enhances your Spellcasting, Ring of Fire, and Dodge. After obtaining the Relic you are more easily able to see harvestable plants throughout the world.
Perk Name | Effect |
---|---|
Lingering Aroma | Gains a moderate Damage Bonus for a short time after casting a Spell. |
In One Breath | Focus Points can be charged up to 4 within the Ring of Fire. |
Hold Breath | Moderately extends Dodge invincibility duration. |
- Lingering Aroma gives decent damage but you don't always need a damage bonus after casting a Spell. This is a great choice when you're stacking multiple bonuses that trigger after casting a Spell but otherwise, you should take a more generic Perk like Hold Breath.
- In One Breath empowers your Ring of Fire, allowing it to build Focus Points up to 4 as you stand in the ring. This is incredibly powerful, as many bosses are less aggressive when you stand back, allowing you to sit in the Ring of Fire to fully charge a Heavy Attack. Unfortunately, it loses value on some of the later bosses which can dodge your charged Heavy Attack.
- Hold Breath is an excellent passive bonus. Dodging is your bread-and-butter when it comes to avoiding damage and the additional invincibility makes it much more forgiving. This is a great option to take at any point in the game.

Envious Tongue
The fourth Relic you obtain is Envious Tongue, this comes from beating the Hundred-Eye Daoist Master at the end of Chapter 4. Envious Tongue gives you bonuses after consuming Medicine, enhances your Immobilize, or increases the healing from your Gourd. The passive bonus for this Relic extends the duration of all medicines.
Perk Name | Effect |
---|---|
Refreshing Taste | After consuming Medicine, increases the Critical Hit Chance of the next Attack. |
Spread the Word | Immobilize affects all enemies around the target. |
Tongue of A Connoisseur | Each equipped Soak slightly increases the Health recovery of the Drink. |
- Refreshing Taste can be used to set up a big burst of damage, combine it with other bonuses that enhance the Critical Hit Chance, or Damage of your next Attack then pop a 4 Focus Charged Heavy Attack to annihilate your foes! This is strong in the early game but loses value against the late game bosses who can dodge your Charged Heavy Attack.
- Spread the Word gives you access to mass crowd control. This is an excellent Perk to activate while exploring the world, but doesn't do much on boss fights as those are usually single target anyway.
- Tongue of A Connoisseur gives you ~5% additional Health recovery per equipped Soak. If you use a drink with 3-4 Soak Slots this provides a huge healing increase, it might not sound like a lot but given that you have multiple Gourd charges it really adds up over the course of a fight.

Grieved Body
The fifth Relic you obtain is Grieved Body, this comes from beating the Yaksha King at the end of Chapter 5. Grieved Body can reduce the Stamina cost of Charged Heavy Attacks, increase your Health, or helps you resist the Four Banes. Its passive bonus massively reduces fall damage which is particularly useful in Chapter 6.
Perk Name | Effect |
---|---|
Nimble Body | Massively reduces the Stamina cost of all Charged Heavy Attacks. |
Everlasting Vitality | Considerably increases Maximum Health. |
Divine Safeguard | Considerably increases Four Banes Resistance. |
- Nimble Body isn't super useful. Once you reach the late game Stamina is rarely a concern, especially when it comes to Charged Heavy Attacks.
- Everlasting Vitality gives +60 Maximum Health which is always nice for increased durability.
- Divine Safeguard is another incredibly potent defensive effect. Very often, resisting the Four Banes is more effective than simply increasing your Health or Defense. However, this is fight specific, the Perk is particularly useful when you are against a boss that inflicts Shock or Poison.

Freed Mind
The final Relic you obtain is Freed Mind, this comes from entering NG+ after beating the Great Sage's Broken Shell at the end of Chapter 6. In addition, to get the perks you need to beat Erlang, the Sacred Divinity, and complete the "secret" ending before taking on the Great Sage's Broken Shell. Freed Mind can improve your Light Attack, synchronize your Duplicates to your abilities, or improve the cheat death Spell you gain upon entering NG+.
Perk Name | Effect |
---|---|
Elegance in Simplicity | Moderately increases Light Attack Damage. |
Unified Minds | When the Destined One performs certain powerful moves, the Duplicates will follow suit. |
Unbegotten, Undying | For a short duration after activating the Life-Saving Strand, escapes death and gains significant Damage Reduction. |
- Elegance in Simplicity is a great way to increase your sustained damage.
- Unified Minds causes your duplicates to copy you. This gives you more control over when they use things like combo finishers which you can use to deal massive damage or set up stagger chains on bosses.
- Unbegotten, Undying improves the Life Saving Strand Spell but isn't as impactful as the other options here.

Selecting Perks
Here's an example build for the Perks from all 6 Relics. This is a generic setup that works with a wide variety of Spells, Equipment, and Stances. Depending on what you're using you may need to swap some Perks out to better compliment your playstyle.
Relic | Perk Name |
---|---|
Craving Eyes | Opportune Watcher |
Fuming Ears | Whistling Wind |
Hubris Nose | Hold Breath |
Envious Tongue | Spread the World (exploration) Tongue of A Connoisseur (bosses) |
Grieved Body | Everlasting Vitality or Divine Safeguard |
Freed Mind | Unified Minds (if using A Pluck of Many) or Elegance in Simplicity |
Note: When fighting bosses who aren't aggressive at a distance, you should swap Hubris Nose to In One Breath and drop Ring of Fire to safely give yourself 4 Focus Points to unleash a massive burst of damage. You can also wear gear that enhances your next Attack, swap Envious Tongue to Refreshing Taste, and pop some Enhanced Tiger Subduing Pellets before executing your Charged Heavy Attack for even more damage.
