Welcome to the Frost Mage leveling guide for the World of Warcraft patch 11.0! In this guide, you find a small overview of good talents to pick, a simplified rotation as well as a shopping list to prepare you for your leveling journey!

Talents
Frost Mage
Spellslinger Level 70
Spec Tree
- Glacial Spike
- To have big burst for every single-target scenario.
- Frozen Orb and Comet Storm
- Your main mini cooldowns for every AoE pull.
- Icy Veins
- Is your main major cooldown every ~2 minutes.
Class Tree
- Greater Invisibility
- To get out of combat whenever you want. Useful if you've pulled too much or some extra you want to avoid.
- Mirror Image
- Could be used to tank for you on big pulls.
Hero Talents
- Spellslinger performs better than Frostfire while leveling due to its simplicity and higher single-target damage.
- Your overall output is increased due to Frost Splinters passively shooting from you through a variety of ways.
- Frozen Orb has a small chance to reset every time Frost Splinters deals a direct damage.

- Choose Spellslinger as your Hero Talent.
- Pick Splintering Orbs.
- Pick Volatile Magic.
- Pick Spellfrost Teachings.
- Pick Splinterstorm.
- Pick Controlled Instincts.
- Pick Reactive Barrier.
- Pick Force of Will.
- Pick Augury Abounds.
- Pick Slippery Slinging.
- Pick Shifting Shards.
Rotation
Frost Mage
Single-Target
- You want to use all your cooldowns and spend every proc during your opener.
- Replace Glacial Spike with Frostbolt if you don't have 5 Icicles.
- After the opener, press Ice Lance with Fingers of Frost or Flurry with Brain Freeze as your highest prio.
- Utilize Shatter passive through Winter's Chill debuff from Flurry or spells like Ice Nova or Frost Nova for Glacial Spike and Comet Storm.
AoE
- In general, you should stack every mob together and AoE them down with Frozen Orb, Comet Storm and Blizzard.
- Keep in mind that Cone of Cold resets cooldown of Frozen Orb and Comet Storm when it hits 3+ targets while also applying Winter's Chill to all of them.
- On AoE your highest prio is to cast Blizzard alongside spending cooldowns and procs.

- Dreambound Augment Rune -- Requires Reputation
or - 10x Draconic Augment Rune
- 20x Goblin Glider Kit
- Nice to either prevent yourself from dying to fall damage or to fly over small gaps without mounting up.
- 20x Gunshoes
- Use to gain a 200% movement speed & water walking buff for 25 seconds.
- Use the "walk" toggle to slow down if you want to hand in quests.
- Buy 1x Light-Step Hoofplates and use it as your mount equipment.
