Olroth, Origin of the Fall is one of the endgame bosses available in the Path of Exile Endgame. This boss is found in 79+ Logbooks received from Expeditions in maps. Defeating Olroth grants additional atlas passive tree points for Expedition that makes the mechanic more rewarding.

Getting to the Boss

In order to access the Olroth boss encounter, you first need to find or buy iLvl 79+ logbooks. Once you open the Logbook, look for a large Skull Icon on the map overlay. Place an explosive next to it in order to open the way to Olroth, Origin of the Fall.

Based off the limited sample size, the chance to spawn the boss in a 79+ Logbook is roughly 15-25%, more testing is required to get a solid estimation.

Ability Breakdown

Chilling Slam

Olroth raises his sword into the air before slamming down, dealing AoE cold damage and leaving a Frost Bomb on the ground that continually detonates.

Boss Mechanics

Damage Types: Physical, Cold

Default Attack

  • Olroth performs large sweeps with his claymore.

Special Abilities

  1. Chilling Slam
    • Olroth raises his sword into the air before slamming down, dealing AoE cold damage and leaving a Frost Bomb on the ground that continually detonates.
  2. Starfall Carousel
    • Olroth summons chilling beams from the sky that contract and expand in a circle.
  3. Extermination Beam
    • The Triskelion Flame fires a tracking beam that tracks the player, causing damage and chilling.
  4. Starfire Beam
    • Accompanied by the voice line "Starfire" the Triskelion Flame fires a massive beam through the center of the arena, leaving chilled ground.
  5. Triskelion Bolt
    • The Triskelion Flame fires a fast moving projectile that deals AoE damage in a small area, causing chill.
  6. Starfall Boomerang
    • The avoid sound cue plays, before Olroth throws his sword across the arena, before returning back to him and causing a large AoE explosion around him. Getting hit by the sword in flight applies Hinder, while the explosion does a large amount of cold damage.
  7. Impale
    • Olroth raises his sword point first and charges toward the player, similar to Count Geonor he performs a wide arcing slash in front of him after the charge is complete.
  8. Frigid Flurry
    • Performs multiple sweeps of his sword, firing a volley of crescent Frost Waves.
  9. Summon Reinforcements
    • The portals around the arena become active, causing skeletal soldiers to pour out throughout the fight. These skeletons do not have a large amount of health and can be killed quickly for flask charges. Keep an eye out for the armoured skeletons with large maces, as they have overhead slams that should be avoided.

Note: After killing Olroth once, he comes back to life with roughly 70% of his HP. Depending on difficulty the skeleton portals will close at this point, and no longer spawn additional reinforcements.

Scaling

Olroth, Origin of the Fall gains additional abilities depending on the level of difficulty. As players go up in difficulty Portals around the arena become active and spawn reinforcements.
