The Iron Citadel Count Geonor Boss Guide

Count Geonor is one of three citadel bosses players encounter while progressing their atlas, he guards the Iron Citadel. Each boss drops a fragment required to challenge the Pinnacle boss, Arbiter of Ash.

Count Geonor is found in The Iron Citadel, a fortressed city overseeing a countryside village. Keep an eye out for keep an eye out for thatched houses, when they show up on your atlas there may be an Iron Citadel nearby.
Loot table
In addition to regular loot, Count Geonor has the following boss-specific drops:
- Ancient Crisis Fragment (100%)
It's possible to get more than one crisis fragment from each citadel boss. Scaling up the Waystone drop chance increases the chance of dropping additional crisis fragments; though this may make the fights substantially more difficult.

Ability Breakdown
Avalanche
In Phase 1 Geonor creates two walls of frost in a cone in front of him before performing an overhead slam shattering the walls.
Players can dodge roll through the frost walls in order to avoid getting hit by the slam.
Boss Mechanics
Damage Types: Physical, Cold
Phase 1:
Default Attacks
- Swings multiple times with his claymore.
Special Attacks
- Frost Strike
- Pulls his sword back in and charges with frost before stabbing forward, firing 3 projectiles.
- Impale
- Puts his sword point first and charges towards the player dealing constant damage to them as he impales them onto the wall. If he does not hit the player at the end of his charge he performs a large frost sweep behind him.
- Avalanche
- Creates two walls of frost in a cone in front of him before performing an overhead slam shattering the walls.
- Wolf Form
- Plants his sword in the ground, creating a frost rune and transforming into a wolf.
- Standing in the rune causes the player to be frozen.
- Note: Unlike the campaign fight, when Geonor transforms into a wolf in Phase 1, Blood Moon Requiem pillars periodically spawn in. This can overlap with his other abilities.
- Plants his sword in the ground, creating a frost rune and transforming into a wolf.
- Summon Pack
- While in wolf form Geonor summons multiple werewolves that rush the play. These detonate on death causing area damage.
- Bloody Leap
- Dissipates into a mist of blood before slamming down onto the player in a physical explosion.
- Blood Burst
- Channels three blood runes onto the ground and ruptures them dealing damage to both sides.
Phase 2:
At roughly 25% Count Geonor transforms into Geonor, the Putrid Wolf
Default Attack
- Swings multiple times with his claymore.
- Lunges at the player, biting them.
Special Abilities
- Counter Attack
- If the player is standing behind Geonor, he swiftly turns around performing a large arc of his sword dealing frost and physical damage.
- Frost Breath
- Fires a breath of frost in front of him.
- Pale Moon Requiem
- Raises his sword to the sky, calling down multiple pillars of chilling light
- Note: Once below roughly 30% this ability transforms into Blood Moon Requiem.
- Bloody Leap
- Same as phase 1, dissipates into a mist of blood before slamming down onto the player in a physical explosion.
- Freezing Gale
- Summons chilling mist in a large area around the arena, with a clearing in the center. Continuously summons the same werewolves as Phase 1 that explode on death. Geonor begins to recite multiple lines of dialogue, leaping after he finishes each phrase.
- Frozen Upheaval
- Geonor plants his sword into the ground, spawning small frost runes on the ground before they erupt into ice shards.
- Leap Slam
- Leaps into the air towards the player before slamming down.
- Blood Moon Requiem
- Similar to the cold damage variant, except it also applies a stack of corrupting blood along with cold damage.
- This ability randomly casts on it's own, and may overlap with other abilities including Frozen Upheaval and Freezing Gale.
Summary
The Iron Citadel Boss Guide includes move sets and strategies to help you beat Count Geonor. Having a character strong enough to kill the bosses with more difficult modifiers can reward the player with multiple crisis fragments. This makes killing the bosses very rewarding however, the difficulty is in finding the Citadels as they are somewhat rare.
