Map Farming Strategy
The Map Farming Strategy is a low investment farming method that focuses on producing the maximum amount of Tier 17 Maps, 8-Mod Corrupted Maps and Memory influenced Maps. While Tier 17 Maps typically yield the most maps due to the "More Maps" modifier tied to certain map mods, they cannot drop other Tier 17s by default.
In Mercenaries of Trarthus, using Originator-influenced maps allows the "More Maps" modifier to apply while still enabling Tier 17 drops. This interaction results in the most efficient and profitable strategy for generating maps currently available.
Set-Up
When setting up to run this strategy, it is recommended that you purchase enough materials to complete a sizable batch of maps. Failing to do this makes selling your drops far more difficult, as you frequently need to interrupt farming to trade for additional supplies.
Map Choice
- Tier 16 Dunes Map with Originator Influence
- Dunes is the best map for the map farming strategy as it is a very open layout with easy access to the boss. This allows you to defeat the boss immediately to remove the boss modifiers from Eldritch Altars. This makes it more likely that you see "Maps have a chance to be Duplicated."
- If you can, run the 8-Mod Originator Influence maps that you drop which have at least a 100% "More Maps" modifier.
- If these are too difficult, you can sell them and roll your own maps for 100%+ More Maps.
- Fortress Map is the Tier 17 that drops from Dunes. This is typically the most sought after Tier 17.
Map Device
- Kirac Modifier - Domination.
- Influence - Searing Exarch.
- Searing Exarch is the preferred influence for map farming due to Wrath of the Cosmos. The key distinction between Searing Exarch and Eater of Worlds is the following:
- Wrath of the Cosmos causes you to spawn an additional modifier 50% of the time, making the "Map Duplication" modifier more common.
- Eldritch Gaze causes the modifier to have a 50% higher value.
- Since Tier 17 maps have diminishing returns on their drop rate within a zone, it's more efficient to have more frequent, slightly weaker modifiers, making Searing Exarch the superior choice.

Fragments
Use the following Scarabs;
- Cartography Scarab of Escalation
- Cartography Scarab of Corruption
- 2x Cartography Scarab of the Multitude
- Scarab of Monstrous Lineage
Atlas Passive Tree
Gameplay
- Rush to the Boss immediately and defeat it. This removes all boss related Eldritch Modifiers from Altars.
- Clear the Map as usual saving any Petal Modifiers for large packs of blue mobs. The best Petal Modifiers are:
- Memory of Disbelief: Consumes Petals to cause affected nearby monsters to not be able to drop items that can have rarity. The number of Petals consumed is proportional to the Power of affected monsters. (Cost 30 Petals)
- Memory of Suspicion: Consumes Petals to cause affected nearby normal monsters to have a chance to be upgraded to magic or rare rarity. (Cost 30 Petals)
- Memory of Panic: Consumes Petals to cause affected monsters to revive on death, dropping loot and granting experience again. The number of Petals consumed is proportional to the Power of affected monsters. Does not affect Unique monsters. (Cost 30 Petals)
Loot Breakdown
Here are the primary drops to sell with the Map Farming Strategy. If you're having trouble selling your loot, refer to our Currency Exchange Guide for tips on efficient selling.
The Maps that you drop can be split into 3 categories:
- Tier 17 Fortress Maps.
- Fortress Maps are the easiest Tier 17s to sell, as they can be priced in a public tab for consistent sales.
- Identify them and place them into a higher-priced tab to maximize value. Buyers looking for specific rolls pay more. While this method may result in slower sales, it often yields higher profits.
- Just be sure to periodically move unsold maps back to your standard pricing tab to keep inventory flowing.
- 8-Mod Corrupted Maps
- These maps are harder to sell compared to standard Tier 17s, as you'll typically need to use a third-party platform, such as PoExchange, especially when selling in bulk. Refer to our PoExchange guide for instructions on how to list your 8-Mod maps efficiently.
- Players often provide a regex, which is a string of characters used to filter out unwanted mods. To use it:
- Paste the regex into your stash tab search bar.
- This will highlight only the maps that match their criteria.
- Then, remove the requested number of highlighted maps and send them in trade.
- Originator Influenced Maps
- Ideally you are running the 8-Mod corrupted maps with a high "More Maps" roll in order to maximize your returns. However, with this strategy you drop between 2-4 of these maps per instance.
- Remove any that you plan to run and then list the remaining in a separate tab.
- Put the starting price a 1 Divine Orb.
- Reduce this price every couple of hours.
