Heist Blueprints Farming Guide
Last Updated:July 26, 2024|Changelog
In this guide you learn the basics of farming Heist Blueprints as well as how to maximize your rewards and profitability.
Blueprints are items that allow you to embark on a Grand Heist, one of Path of Exile's mechanics which lets you farm currency outside of maps. This means that the strategy does not require any Atlas Passive Tree points and the only supplies that you need are Blueprints and the Rogue's Markers.
When you enter the Blueprint your number 1 goal is to reach the end of each wing and choose 1 of the items presented to steal. After doing so you trigger an alarm and you have to escape with your precious loot. Assemble a crew of experienced Rogues that can help you with any locked doors or traps blocking your way to ensure a smooth heist.
Mechanics
When farming Heist Blueprints there are a number of key mechanics to watch out for to ensure you're achieving maximum rewards.
Rogue's Marker - Currency spent on various Heist activities like opening Contracts and Blueprints or revealing additional Wings and Rooms of the Blueprints. They are dropped by regular monsters and Smuggler's Caches in maps. Reward acquired at the end of contracts sells to Faustus at the Rogue Harbor for a large amount of Rogue's Markers.
Contract - Items required to open a basic version of Heist. They are dropped by regular monsters and Smuggler's Caches in maps. Their prime use is to generate Reveals and Rogue's Markers granted by the reward picked up at the end of the Contract. On your way you can find small chests containing random rewards and side Rooms locked behind the doors marked with a specific type of reward they contain. The reward type depends on the type of job required to run the contract. Here is a list of all possible type of rewards:
- Lockpicking - Jewelry, Currency, Fragments
- Counter-Thaumaturgy - Jewelry, Gems, Currency
- Brute Force - Weapon, Fossil, Unique,
- Perception - Generic, Jewelry, Divination
- Demolition - Generic, Delirium, Blight, Ultimatum
- Agility - Armor, Fossil, Essence, Currency, Harbinger
- Deception - Armor, Divination, Harbinger
- Engineering - Generic, Essence, Unique
- Trap Disarmament - Armor, Weapons, Breach, Talisman, Abyss, Legion
Blueprint - Items required to open an advanced version of heist called Grand Heist. As a baseline each Blueprint contains 1 revealed Wing with few revealed reward Rooms. You can use additional Reveals to unlock up to 4 total Wings and all of the contained Rooms.
Reveal - Obtained by completing Contracts. Reveals are used to unlock additional Wings and Rooms of the Blueprints. If you hire Gianna to assist you during a Contract you receive additional Reveals.
Wing - Each Blueprint contains between 3 and 4 Wings. Each one of them is a similar size as a single Contract. At the end of each Wing you get to choose 1 out of the 5 presented items to steal.
Alert - After opening a small chest or a special Reward Chest you generate an alert. When alert bar is fully filled you trigger a lockdown. After a few seconds, this prevents you from grabbing a reward at the end of Contract or a Wing of a Blueprint. In Grand Heist each Wing has a separate alert bar.
Rogue - When starting every contract you get to choose 1 Rogue to assist you with opening the doors for you, disarming the traps and unlocking the reward chests is the side rooms. Before you start a Grand Heist you have to plan it by choosing 3 Rogues to assist you in every Wing separately. Additionally each Rogue provides a special bonus listed below. The potency of the bonus increases with the Rogue's Job level.
- Karst - 20-40% less raising of alert level from opening reward chests
- Tibbs - Can unlock 1-2 Mechanical chest after lockdown per wing
- Isla - 30-50% increased time before lockdown
- Tullina - 10-26% chance to find additional heist targets from secret reward rooms and 6-14% less raising of alert level
- Niles - Can unlock 1-2 magical chest after lockdown per wing and discovers a Blueprint Reveal upon completion of a Heist Contract mission which has a 10% discount
- Nenet - Can scout nearby enemy patrols and elite patrols during Heists and 8-20% less raising of alert level
- Vinderi - Heists chests have a 6-14% chance to duplicate their contents and 14-30 more raising of alert level
- Gianna - Discovers a Blueprint Reveal upon completion of a Heist Contract mission which has a 10-40% discount
- Huck - Is a powerful combatant and provides strong buffs to allies. Players have 10-20% increased experience gain
Rogue Equipment - Each Rogue can equip a Brooch, a Cloak, a Gear and a Tool. These are craftable items that can help you during Heists by increasing Job speed of the Rogues, reducing Rogue's Markers cost to enter Contracts or Blueprints, reducing generated alert level and increasing the amount of loot found in the Reward Chests.
How To Run It
When farming Grand Heist you do not need to reveal additional wings and rooms of the blueprints using reveals acquired from finishing the Contracts. The additional time and Rogue's Marker investment is usually not worth it and each Blueprint comes with 1 already revealed wing.
Blueprint Rush
The key to maximizing the profit from this strategy is to run as many Blueprints per hour as possible to increase the chance of finding rare rewards at the end of the Wings.
Step 1 - If a Blueprint is rare or magic Scour it. Additional rarity does not affect the rewards and makes Blueprints unnecessarily harder.
Step 2 - Step into the planning room. Choose 3 Rogues with the highest level to assist you during the 1 revealed wing of the Blueprint.
Step 3 - Enter the Grand Heist by talking to Adiyah and offering her a Blueprint.
Step 4 - Run through the Blueprint ignoring small chests and side Reward Rooms, straight into the big reward room at the end.
Step 5 - Choose the most expensive reward.
Step 6 - Run back to the entrance during a Lockdown.
Step 7 - Leave the Grand Heist.
Fully Revealed
Here is an alternative way of running Grand Heists which has a lower chance of finding rare rewards and requires running Contracts for the reveals, but requires less Blueprints and offers more consistent profit.
Step 1 - If your Blueprints and Contracts are rare or magic Scour them. Additional rarity does not affect the rewards and makes Blueprints and Contracts unnecessarily harder.
Step 2 - Open a Contract that requires Deception, Counter-Thaumaturgy, or Perception as a job. Use Gianna to assist you to obtain some of her 40% cheaper reveals.
Step 3 - Talk to Whakano and offer him a Blueprint. Reveal all of the Wings using Gianna Reveals and some of the Divination, Currency, Ultimate and Fragment Rooms using Whakano Reveals.
Step 4 - Step into the planning room. Choose 3 Rogues prioritizing Vinderi, Karst, Nenet and Tullina to assist you during the revealed Wings of the Blueprint.
Step 5 - Enter the Grand Heist by talking to Adiyah and offering her a Blueprint.
Step 6 - Run through the Blueprint ignoring all small chests but opening all of the most rewarding Reward Chests until the alert bar is close to full.
Step 7 - Run to the big reward room at the end of the Wing.
Step 8 - Choose the most expensive reward.
Step 9 - Run back to the entrance during a Lockdown.
Step 10 - Repeat for all Wings of that Blueprint.
Step 11 - Leave Grand Heist.
