Legion Farming Guide

Warning: This guide assumes you have know the basics of Legion from our mechanics guide. Read that first before continuing!

Legion requires speed, massive AoE and high damage. It is incredibly powerful at generating Currency and drops emblems that are used to power level players to 100. This Legion Farming guide teaches you how to maximize your loot, set the strategy up and optimize your play with essential tips and tricks!

If you're capable of fully completing legions it's incredibly profitable and offers valuable Currency from:

  • Timeless Emblems
  • Incubators
  • Large Amounts of raw Currency
  • Large Amounts of Maps
  • Miscellaneous League Drops

It adds a large amount of Rare and Magic monsters to maps that yield a much higher quantity and rarity of loot.

Legion cannot be done by everyone as breaking the entire legion out of stasis is difficult for many builds. If you can do this expect immense rewards. The best builds for it have high AoE or large coverage through projectiles.

Legion also requires the use of Scarabs, the Atlas Passive Tree and an end game Atlas in order to sustain it and maintain profitability. Having access to a pool of Tier 16 maps is preferred, but the strategy works as soon as the two Eldritch Pinnacle Bosses The Searing Exarch and Eater of Worlds have been defeated.

Legion must be run on open layout maps and is not profitable on smaller layout maps. When legions activate any obstructions, terrain or walls limit the amount of monsters, bosses and chests that spawn reducing your loot significantly.

Here's how to run Legion maps:

  1. Run the map normally until you encounter Legion Pylon.
  2. Clear all monsters surrounding the area.
  3. Activate the Legion completing it with the tips below.
  4. Loot only after all monsters are defeated.
  5. Progress your map as normal.

Tips And Tricks

Cracking Full Legions

Focus on breaking out the center of the Legion adjacent to the Pylon after activation, then move to the edge of the legion formation clearing around the border until you make a full loop. This method is the easiest for most to break out all the monsters without missing any. If you cannot break the entire legion, focus on Maraketh and Templar factions first.

Dealing With Generals

Break out Legion Generals from stasis immediately. Generals always spawn opposing each other at the back of each formation and can be identified by the purple indicators on the pylon that point to them. They can appear in difficult to reach places, so check everywhere and track them down.

Using Incubators

Incubators drop frequently from Legion and are cheap compared to the value of using them yourself. Always have incubators applied to each slot of your gear prioritizing the ones with the highest value first. An 11th incubator can be used on a rogue trinket that is unlocked by doing a Heist Blueprint.

Atlas Passive Tree

Legion Atlas Passive Tree
Atlas Passive Tips
  • Use extra Atlas passive points to specialize in an additional synergizing farming strategy.
  • After acquiring 4 voidstones and 7+ favorite map slots, allocate the Singular Focus Keystone.
  • League and map nodes on the 'base tree' are mandatory, but travel nodes can be adjusted as needed.
  • When using Awakened Sextants allocate the 'Enduring Focus' node.

Atlas State

Before farming Legion, have the following Atlas objectives completed:

  • The Grasping Voidstone
  • The Omniscient Voidstone
  • 65 Atlas passive points minimum
  • 7 Favourite Map Slots

For seamless gameplay, infinite sustain of the best layout maps and maximum profit, you need:

  • The Grasping Voidstone
  • The Omniscient Voidstone
  • The Ceremonial Voidstone
  • The Decayed Voidstone
  • 66 Atlas passive points
  • 10+ Favourite Map Slots

Map Choice

Open layout maps are preferred since they make clearing legions easier and more profitable. Any open layout map can be used for Legion farming, but the ones below have extra merit or are particularly well suited for it. When Favouriting maps or moving toward infinitely sustaining one map, these should be your top picks:

  • Dunes is the best Legion layout map having almost no obstacles and a completely open layout. It also has a decent base monster count making map sustain easy. The Acclimatisation Divination Card also drops; sell it for additional profit.
  • Jungle Valley is great but has a large amount of trees that can obstruct monsters and rewards spawning. It has a good base monster count and contains The Scout Divination Card which is great for profit.
  • Cemetery is great for Legion, but it has obstructions and sometimes spawns them in poor locations. It has lots of monsters making map sustain trivial and contains the valuable Divination Cards Brother's Stash and the The Union.

Rolling Maps

Rolling your maps correctly is essential for increasing your profit and sustaining maps in the end game.

Have at least 10 maps suitable for Legion at Tier 14+ before beginning to farm. If you don't have enough, they can be purchased off other players or farmed up yourself.

For this strategy roll all of your maps using the following materials that you intend to run Legion on.

  1. Clean Your Maps - Ensure all of your maps are identified and then use an Orb of Scouring to make them all normal rarity, since achieving 20% quality on white maps requires significantly less Cartographer's Chisels.
  2. Chiseling - Use Cartographer's Chisels on all of your maps until each one is 20% quality.
  3. Alchemy Orbs - Use Orb of Alchemys on every map you have at 20% quality. Re-roll maps your character cannot run using Orb of Scouring and Orb of Alchemy.
  4. Vaal Orbs - Use Vaal Orbs on all of your appropriately rolled maps. Some maps may transform or receive new modifiers, so weed out any maps with modifiers your build cannot run or that are no longer on a favourable layout for Legion. On average using Vaal Orbs on high tiers maps is always worth it.

When farming Legion, at minimum use the following Scarabs and Fragments:

  • Rusted Legion Scarab
  • Sacrifice at Dawn
  • Sacrifice at Noon

For larger profits use a higher investment setup with:

  • Polished Legion Scarab
  • Rusted Cartography Scarab
  • Rusted Elder Scarab

The best Sextant for Legion is the "Additional Legion" modifier that adds an extra pyrlon to maps while it is active. Every Legion gains all the modifiers from Atlas passives and Scarabs, making this Sextant particularly powerful when used with Polished Legion Scarabs or Gilded Legion Scarabs.

Legion farming does not require any other specific Sextant modifiers, but as with all strategies, Sextants increase your profit for next to no cost in the long run.

Legion Kirac Modifier

Always use Awakened Sextants to roll additional monster packs on all your available Void Stones. Use Surveyor's Compass on valuable Sextants you don't want so they can be sold.

Kirac Modifier

Kirac modifiers are a set of league modifiers that can be accessed via the map device for a Chaos Orb fee per map. These modifiers change every league, and if Legion is offered it

should always be used with this strategy.

Selling Your Loot

Here are the drops you can expect to acquire with this strategy, as well as some advice on how to sell them effectively and quickly. Follow our Bulk Selling guide to learn more.

Timeless Emblems

Timeless Emblems are your main profit and drop mostly in splinter form, but sometimes drop as full Emblems with Atlas passives allocated.

Sell these to 5-way runners who purchase full sets of Emblems (one of each colour) for a fixed price in large quantities. These players often operate on community trade Discords and are the best way to offload them.

To sell your emblems traditionally list them in bulk using bulk selling methods and competitive prices to ensure they sell quickly.

Incubators come from Legion reward tagged enemies and chests. They are very valuable when applied to gear, however since you will have more than you can use, sell the extras. Only Incubators with valuable rewards sell, and they must be sold for less than the value of the reward inside to make it worth other player's time. You should be able to sell the following incubators using bulk selling methods:

  • Skittering Incubator
  • Time-Lost Incubator
  • Geomancer's Incubator
  • Fossilised Incubator
  • Foreboding Incubator
  • Ornate Incubator
  • Diviner's Incubator
  • Kalguuran Incubator

Remember, keep the best incubators for yourself; only sell ones you know you won't use.

Raw Currencies

Tremendous amounts of raw Currency drops from, monsters and chests tagged with the Currency reward icon spawned by Legions.

Convert Bulk Currency like Orbs of Fusing and Orbs of Alchemy into Chaos Orbs and Divine Orbs using bulk selling methods after you accumulate a good amount from your farming.

Legion spawns many Magic and Rare monsters, which drop far more maps. After farming end game Legion with a proper Atlas, 4 Void Stones and Favourites, you will have a surplus of your favourite map.

Good layout maps are valuable within the economy, so sell them using bulk trading methods or community trading Discords.

If your favourite map is not selling, re-assign half of your favourite slots to other popular layouts to maintain your own map pool while dropping some hot layouts to sell to other players.

Miscellaneous Loot

While farming Legion you accumulate a good amount of miscellaneous loot including Divination Cards, Fossils, Essences and more. After you complete a few farming sessions, sell these items using bulk selling methods.

Legion drops a good amount of Stacked Decks which are worth a considerable amount later on in leagues. Sell these similar to the loot above using bulk selling methods.

Filtering Incubators

Hide Incubators that don't sell and you don't want to use yourself. There is little to no demand for lower reward Incubators, so don't hold back.

Filtering Legion Splinters

As your character becomes faster, hide singular Splinters of low value Emblem types:

  • Timeless Karui Splinter
  • Timeless Eternal Empire Splinter
  • Timeless Vaal Splinter

Only picking up higher stacks of the most valuable splinters saves a lot of time. In extreme situations players hide stack sizes higher than 1 for the factions above.

Higher Tier Scarabs

Higher tier Scarabs can be used for more profit. Use Gilded Legion Scarabs over Polished Legion Scarabs to a guarantee 2 Legion Generals per pylon. These are expensive, so only use them with the additional Legion Sextant or the Legion Kirac modifier when it is available.

You can also upgrade your Rusted Cartography Scarab to a Polished Cartography Scarab or Gilded Cartography Scarab assuming the price is reasonable and you are successfully selling maps.

Splinter Duplication Compass

The Splinter duplication Charged Compass doubles your Emblem drops and increases profits dramatically. This Charged Compass can be expensive, so maximize the amount of legions in maps with it active. This compass increases the life of the legions in and out of stasis, making them far more difficult and time consuming to run.

Strategy Synergies

Eldritch Altar Farming

Eldritch Altar farming requires minimal investment from the Atlas passive tree, is free and also grants a significant amount of loot without slowing down your clear speed. The primary requirement of Altar farming is a map with a boss that can be rushed consistently. Two of the best Legion maps (Dunes and Jungle Valley) are perfect for this, so no compromises need to be made!

Alchemy And Go

Alchemy and Go combines multiple low maintenance, easy to sell league mechanics that reward speed and have low character and investment requirements. This makes it the perfect partner for Legion farming and a great place to spend your remaining Atlas passive points.

This guide explains:

  • The high AoE Character requirements of Legion.
  • How to run and make currency from the strategy.
  • How to run the strategy on high and low investment.
  • A suitable Atlas Passive Tree Skeleton to use.
  • How to sell the loot that you've earned converting it into liquid currency.
