Wand / Staff PvP Build Guide
Last Updated:March 10, 2025|Changelog
Welcome to the Wand / Staff PvP Healer guide! Wand / Staff is most commonly played as a healer, but can also be built as a Hybrid DPS when you obtain a Queen Bellandir's Hivemind Staff and Tevent's Grasp of Withering.
With certain equipment sets such as the Oracle Priest Set and Vanguard Leader Set, as well as abilities like Echoic Barrier, Victorious Energy, Frost Smokescreen, Icebound Tomb, and Blessed Barrier, you can survive situations where you're outnumbered or up against a strong opponent.
Wand / Staff has unique abilities such as, Ice Spear, and Salvation Chain, and Frost Smokescreen that makes you a healer who can reliably protect and peel for teammates.

PvP Gear Progression
Acquiring Gear pieces and upgrading them is incredibly expensive and time-consuming. If you enjoy both PvE and PvP content, use these sets for PvE as well.

You can go for any Rune Synergy that best fits your situation. EVERY SERVER META IS DIFFERENT.
When it comes to stats obtained from runes, players commonly choose what is necessary to hit their own stat bonuses (or other personal goals).
Attack Runes
- Heavy Attack Chance in both weapons and your bracelet to increase the Heavy Chance of your Wand and Longbow heals, as well as Invincible Wall.
- Hit Chance in your necklace as there aren't any good options in these slots.
- Critical Hit Chance in your rings to slightly increase the Critical Hit Chance of your Wand heals or Invincible Wall. Your Longbow heals can't Crit.
Defensive and Support Runes
Defensive Runes are interchangeable depending on the build you're using and what your server meta is like.
For Melee Evasion builds:
- Use Melee Evasion Runes as needed.
- Use Max Health, Magic Endurance, or Ranged Endurance Runes if the Melee Evasion you can naturally build through gear is high enough to be effective in PvP.
For Endurance builds:
- Use more Melee Endurance Runes if there are more Spear users on your server.
- Use more Ranged Endurance Runes if there are more Longbow and especially Xbow users on your server.
For all builds:
- Use Skill Damage Resistance Runes on both your weapons, belt, and bracelet.
- The Rune Synergies you can achieve on your belt are lackluster. Thus, going triple Skill Damage Resistance Runes or Resistance Runes would make you more tanky in PvP. Doing the same on your bracelet is recommended.
Replace Runes using Chaos Runes in this order:
- Attack Rune in Necklace (Hit doesn't benefit you as a Seeker in PvP, especially not at the low amounts they provide.)
- Attack Runes in Rings (Critical Hit Chance increases your Critical Healing by an extremely low amount. For example 750 Swift Heals with 669 Magic Crit results in only 9.5% of the heals landing as Crits.)
- Attack Rune in your Belt if you're not doing x3 SDR.
Consider the defensive and offensive breakpoints other classes can reach when building your gear.
- Melee
- From early to endgame T2, Sword and Shield users average around 1,000 Collision Chance. This number can increase easily with Traits, Skills, and Runes.
- Since they can build high Collision Chance with the ability to add more to land their important Collision CC, I recommend building other Resistances that will be just as effective in ensuring your survival during PvP. For instance, you can build Bind or Stun Resistances which are required for several Collision combos performed by Sword and Shield and Greatsword users.
- Melee can build additional CC Hit Chance from:
- Deadly Penetration that increases Spear CC Chance by 15%.
- Unyielding Sentinel that provides up to 450 CC Chance.
- Hand-to-Hand Combat which increases Stun and Collision Hit Chance when Perception is 70 or more.
- Gerad's Valor that increases all CC Chance by up to 110.
- Ruthlessness which increases Stun, Collision, and Fear Chance by 22 per every 10 Fortitude.
- Building Melee Evasion is interesting in T2. The average Melee Hit I've observed from over 110 competitive Melee builds based in the NA and EU regions, as well as build websites, suggest that the average Melee Hit from early to endgame T2 will be around 2,200 to as high as 2,800 (endgame non-nebula). This does not factor in Hit buffs like:
- Unyielding Sentinel that provide Spear users an additional 410 Hit.
- All-out Assault that increase Spear Melee Hit by 336
- All this in mind, Spear players can certainly stack enough Hit (with buffs) to reliably land hits against Melee Evasion builds which comfortably reach 3,000 Melee Evasion and up to 3,500 if sacrificing some critical stats. It's likely you will have enough Melee Evasion to counter Greatsword and Sword and Shield players, but if necessary, they could push their Melee Hit higher to ensure they reliably land their CCs on you.
- From early to endgame T2, Sword and Shield users average around 1,000 Collision Chance. This number can increase easily with Traits, Skills, and Runes.
- Ranged
- Bow / Staff users are reaching an average of up to 1,800 Critical Hit Chance before conditional buffs are added like Sniper's Sense and Decisive Bombardment.
- Staff / Daggers users are reaching an average of up to 2,000 Magic Critical Hit Chance.
- Longbow / Daggers users reach up to an average of 1,800 Critical Hit Chance before conditional buffs like Unlucky Target and Killer's Sense.
Considering the above, it's hard to find a one-size-fits-all solution. How you gear will entirely depend on the meta of your server. There is additional information that you should know when gearing that applies to all enemies, included below:
- Enemies on your server may stack a lot of Weaken Resistance to counter your Bind and Slow CC, as well as your Weaken Debuffs. Don't worry as you can build a lot of Weaken Chance to counter majority of Weaken Resistance builds. Additionally, with the new gear swap system, you can easily switch to build variations that trade Weaken Chance for mother stats you may prefer if you don't need it for a fight.
- Evasion Build Considerations:
- The Abyssal Beast Solarstone reduces Evasion up to 300.
- The Flamespell Weaver Lunarstone increases Hit by 80 with a 5% chance to procc whenever the enemy lands an attack. Lunarstones have no cooldowns.
- The Flamespell Weaver Solarstone increases Hit by 200 for 10 seconds.
- Endurance Build Considerations:
- The Chaos Harbinger Solarstone increases Critical Hit Chance up to 1,000 for 10 seconds.
Active Skill Choices
- Use Ancient King's Armor: Solar Stone if you don't require the extra CC Resistances. This stone increases your Health by 5,000 and acts as a heal that isn't affected by Healing Debuffs.
Passive Skill Choices
- Greedy Mind's Eye: Lunar Stone is in my opinion the best Artifact Passive. Increasing your Skill Damage Resistance by up to 210 when you're CC'd is invaluable.
Artifact Set Choices
- The 2-Piece Greedy Mind's Eye is used to obtain 100 extra Endurance.
- The 2-Piece Ancient King's Armor provides 1,500 additional Max Health.
- The 2-Piece Forsaken Zealot provides 150 extra Defenses.

Stats and Gearing Logic
- Swap pieces in and out to match the server meta you are playing against.
- The list of stats in the image above may be inaccurate. Please find a more accurate list of important stats this build achieves below:
- Base Damage: Staff 298-526, Wand 224-385
- Defense: Melee 4,297, Ranged 3,956, Magic 3,562 (when Mana Spring is activated, your Defenses will increase even more)
- Endurances: Melee 1,801, Ranged 1,715, Magic 1,835
- Heavy Attack Evasions: Melee 615, Ranged 315, Magic 809
- Max Health: 25,694
- Max Mana: 16,493
- Mana Regen: 1,230
- Mana Cost Efficiency: 25%
- Skill Heal: 171% (includes Divine Choice and Light of Devotion)
- Attack Speed: 12%
- Attack Range: 27m
- Cooldown Speed: 52%
- Buff Duration: 58%
- Debuff Duration: -47%
- Weaken Chance: 943
- Bind Chance: 723
- Triple high Defense and Endurance provides you strong protection against all three damage types. Since Endurance always works by subtracting your Endurance against an enemy's Critical Hit Chance, it's very reliable in PvP. Additionally, if you have higher Endurance than your enemy's Crit, you can procc Glancing which forces a minimum Base Damage attack.
- With the 2-Piece Oracle Priest Set and Mana Shield, you achieve insanely high Defenses that reduce all attacks received. Paired with the 2-Piece Vanguard Leader Set, you are tanky enough in PvP to survive most situations.
- The 2-Piece Oracle Priest Set shares 200 of all Defenses to party members, making you more desirable in groups as a secondary support.
- For the archboss version of this build, you can swap one of your weapon synergies to Strength and reallocate stats to bring Perception 70 to achieve higher Weaken Chance.
Alternatives
- Use either Precious Purification Spirit Stone or Precious Purification Vigor Stone based on your preference. Many players find the CC immunity helps to get off important skills to ensure their and/or the party's survival, whereas with the healing stone they are re-CC'd and quickly bursted down again.
- The ideal build to choose is heavily dependent on your server meta.
- Talandre Gear offers many different gear pieces from which you can choose.
- Use these builds as a base and swap different pieces depending on your need.

Wand / Staff PvP Early Game Gear
Any Melee user who knows how to gear properly approaches 1,000 Melee Hit Early Game, especially Greatsword users. To effectively combat this, you need around 1,500 Melee Evasion for a 30% chance of evading their attacks. With Staff, you easily surpass this requirement because of Victorious Energy which provides you up to 460 of all Evasions and 460 Hit for over 10 seconds with proper Buff Duration. This will help in escaping Greatswords looking to engage on you.
With Victorious Energy you achieve 1,518 Melee Evasion, 1,102 Ranged Evasion, and 1,032 Magic Hit.

Wand / Staff Mid Game PvP Build
Unless you have this gear set somewhat traited, some of your Green Gear is still better for PvP. Keep that in mind before transferring over.
- Your goal with gearing is to have high Max Health while maintaining the required Melee and Ranged Evasion needed to effectively counter Melee and Ranged Hit.
- With a Level 1 Victorious Energy you achieve 2,290 Melee Evasion, 1,370 Ranged Evasion, and 1,140 Hit.
- You have a Cooldown Speed of 12.5% on your Wand healing and support abilities thanks to your Wand Mastery skills.

Lequirius

End Game Wand / Staff PvP Build
- Note: You do not need to update your gear to match the small changes made for optimization with the addition of the Rune system.
- Excavator or Lequirius?: Both wands are exceptional and provide unique benefits in PvP. Excavator's Mysterious Scepter helps you achieve the 70 Strength Attribute bonus and provides you a powerful Healing Overtime ability that can reach over 20,000 in healing output with your healing bonuses. Lequirus's Coveted Tome makes you more difficult to kill, allowing you to escape near-death situations without pressing a button. What you use depends on your playstyle and personal preference.
- If you have Daybreak Shore Feast, use it.
- This build is stronger in small scale fights where it is easier for melee to focus you such as Arena, Dominion Events, and war zones with difficult choke points.
- Although this build is stronger in small scale fights, it is still viable in large scale fights as long you have proper positioning to avoid getting singled out by melee players.
- The amount of Melee Evasion you want to aim for is 1,800, which allows you to counter the average amount of 900 to 1,300 Hit Greatsword users achieve in T1 gear.
- Ranged players tend to average around 1,000 Hit or more making it difficult to run a proper amount of Ranged Evasion and Melee Evasion simultaneously.

- Why Talus?: Talus's Crystalline Staff provides you a counter to Stun, which is especially helpful against Greatsword players who commonly target you during PvP. While the skill from Talus's Crystalline Staff is active, any damage you receive will also be nullified.

- Ranged players tend to average around 1,000 Hit or more making it difficult to run a proper amount of Ranged Evasion and Melee Evasion simultaneously.

- The glass Wand Staff build is very strong but squishier to Ranged and Melee players due to a lack of Ranged Endurance or Evasion, and lower Melee and Ranged Defenses. Knowing how to position well is required for this build's success.
- With level 20 runes you achieve an amazing 122.63% Skill Heal, 51% Buff Duration and 44% base Cooldown Speed.
- Use High Focus with this build to achieve over 102% Cooldown Speed.

- If you have Daybreak Shore Feast, use it.
- This build is strong in large scale fights such as Wars, Siege, Tax Cart, and Battlegrounds where it's easier to position yourself away from melee players and rely more on your raid for protection.
- In large scale fights, majority of your damage is primarily received from Longbow and Staff players casting long-ranged abilities, with crossbow divers secondary. Since these damage types are Magic and Range, a Magic and Ranged defensive build is stronger in large scale combat.
- The amount of Magic Evasion you want to aim for is 1,800, which allows you to counter the average amount of 900 to 1,100 Hit DPS Staff players achieve in T1 gear, especially against those not running Victorious Energy.
- Properly built ranged players will have more than 1,000 Hit making it difficult to run a proper Magic and Ranged Evasion build without Shadow Walker from Daggers.

Skill Builds and Rotations
- You will notice in-game that some Staff and Wand Mastery skills are forcibly activated and do not help us support in PvP. We have no choice but to take them due to how the system works, but they have no negative impact on our gameplay. Ignore them.
- Full Support Invocator is a very useful and powerful class as it provides several key AoE CC and utility abilities that can be spammed often due to the class's high Cooldown Speed. It works the best with at least two Spear and/or Crossbow users in your group to synergize with your AoE Mana Burn capabilities from Burning Time.
- Cast Cursed Nightmare and Burning Time on a target without Daggers and spread with Karmic Haze.
- This combination will mass Sleep enemies, providing a clump of targets for your teammates to dive, while also applying the Burning Time Debuff that will quickly deplete the Mana of all those affected from each hit your party members land on the affected targets.
- Spear and Crossbow users hit the most amount of times within a single use of an ability and when you have two or more together they can deplete a total of 5,000 to 7,000+ Mana within a single rotation. For majority of players, this would make it impossible for them to use abilities, securing your raid a win, or the upper hand during a fight.
- You stack Weaken Chance to ensure this combination is successful upon use. Karmic Haze also ignores Shield Block Chance, making it much easier to complete the combo on a Shield and Sword user.
- Use Salvation Chain to save your dive bombers after they complete a rotation or your frontline players who have ventured too deep into the enemy raid.
- Icebound Armor will help you survive moments where you're ganked. Use this ability when you're in a tough situation and call your teammates to peel, or use the opportunity to ask your Greatsword party member for Blood Devotion.
- Pair Frost Smokescreen with Ebon Soulwind Archstaff to Bind and Slow groups of enemies in place and create a clump of targets for your raid to blow up. This combination shines in areas with chokes that enemies are forced to push through.
- To continue being a nuissance in PvP, make sure to constantly apply additional Slow Debuffs to enemies with your Frost Master passive.
- Body blocking is a huge issue experienced by Tanks when they're trying to capture point or maneuver around it during GvGs, Wars, and Siege. Taking Spectral Defense helps them resolve this issue.
- Keep in mind that the shield from Spectral Defense overrides the shield from Invincible Wall.
- Provide Enchanting Time to DPS in your party when the tank doesn't need Spectral Defense.
- With your high Mana Regen and Mana Spring, you no longer need to rely on Inner Peace.
Alternatives
- If you prefer not to AoE Sleep, take Judgment Lightning instead and when engaging enemies, reduce the Shield Block Chance of all Shield and Sword users hit by 30%. This will significantly increase the damage your allies deal to them. If the frontline dies quicker due to your Debuffs, your raid will have an easier time dominating a fight!
- This build is focused on depleting the enemy's Mana and making tanks squishier, while also supporting your party with your heals and utility abilities. With High Focus, you can spam these Debuffs and support abilities more often during a fight.
- Focused Fire Bombs pairs with Full of Corruption in addition to your other Weaken abilities.
- Use Enchanting Time on yourself or party members who are pulled into a clump and need to avoid being body blocked to escape. You can also use it on your tanks as they engage so they can easily clump enemy players without being body blocked. Lastly, it's great to similarly support tanks as they capture points during GvGs, Siege, and Wars.
- Swap Lasting Storm to Targets Expanded if you prefer to share the High Focus with your allies.

Guardians
Guardians are special transformations that add offensive or defensive buffs or attacks to your character for 30 seconds. These are the recommended Guardians for this class in both PvE and PvP situations.
- Soundless Mage Taliesia is the common healer Guardian in T2. She increases healing by 25% and cleanses all CC from party members, while healing them for 8% of their Max Health.
Purification Stone
Use the Precious Purification Vigor Stone.
- In addition to cleansing CC (other than collision, petrification, and weaken similar to the others), it provides a powerful heal that is increased by your healing passives and buffs, including Blessed Barrier.
- The heal from the stone can Critical Heal.
- The heal from the stone is increased by the Extreme Ascension set bonus.
Summary
- The Wand / Staff Healer in PvP is the most versatile healer build. You can play it as full support, hybrid DPS, and as a buffbot.
- Wand / Staff can achieve the highest Cooldown Speed in the game allowing you to spam heals and abilities more often compared to other healers.
- As a Wand / Staff build, you have Salvation Chain that allows you to pull party members from long ranges to safety, and Freeze enemies to save allies making you a great peeler during fights.
- Talus's Resonance Staff and Lequirus' Grip improves your survivability as a Wand / Staff healer.
