Zarohk, The Temporal Boss Guide

Zarohk, the Temporal is one of the endgame bosses available in the Path of Exile Endgame. He is the final boss at the end of the 4th floor of the Trial of the Sekhema and rewards the player with their last ascendancy points as well as valuable rewards.

Getting to the boss

In order to access the Zarohk, the Temporal boss encounter, you first need to complete 4 floors of the Trial of the Sekhema.

The 4th floor can be accessed by entering a Djinn Barya iLvl 76+ or, one with 4 Trials.

Loot table

Defeat Zarokh, the Temporal in order to receive one of the listed Unique Relics allowing you to access special challenge runs of Trial of Sekhemas:

• The Burden of Leadership Tapestry Relic
  • Causes Zarokh to drop either: Sekhema's Resolve, Sekhema's Resolve or Sekhema's Resolve
• The Changing Seasons Seal Relic
  • Causes Zarokh to drop Sandstorm Visage
• The Last Flame Incense Relic
  • Causes Zarokh to drop Temporalis
• The Desperate Alliance Vase Relic
  • Causes Zarokh to drop Against the Darkness
• The Remembered Tales Coffer Relic
  • Causes Zarokh to drop Blessed Bonds
• The Peacemaker's Draught Amphora Relic
  • This causes Zarokh to drop an additional Barya

Note: Look out for Gold Grand Spectrum Caches which can spawn after defeating Zarokh, and may generate as one of the chest types in "Contains a Golden Chest" room rewards on the 4th floor. Make sure to save at least one Golden Key as you progress through the 4 floors to not potentially miss out on opening this lucrative chest at the end of your run. The Cache may grant one of the following:

• Grand Spectrum
• Grand Spectrum
• Grand Spectrum

Ability Breakdown

Orb Volley

Fires a volley of slow moving orbs. These orbs can be body blocked by minions, totems, and ice walls.

Temporal Portal

Similar to the traps found on the 4th floor, Zarohk, the Temporal spawns 8 portals around the room that fire slow moving orbs.

Temporal Tendrils

At roughly 75% Zarohk, the Temporal teleports to the center of the room and spawns multiple time traps around the room. He then begin rotating firing multiple Temporal Tendrils while rotating counterclockwise. He repeats this ability throughout the fight.

The best way to avoid taking multiple hits from the Tendrils is standing the top corner of the arena and meaning you only get hit 1-2 times. This also making avoiding mines easier, as you won't need to move once you reach the corner.

Alternatively, you may place yourself in the rough center of the volley and dodge roll through it as it's coming towards you. Being too close means you risk getting shotgunned by the tendrils while being too far away means you'll dodge roll into additional hits of the tendrils.

Temporal Orb

The avoid cue sound plays, and Zarohk fires a slow moving Orb with a circle around it. This orb detonates when reaching a player, but can be body blocked by minions, totems, and frost wall.

Temporal Mines

Initially, these only spawn when he does his rotating Temporal Tendrils ability. Once below roughly 40% health the mines periodically spawn and overlap with his other abilities.

Sands of Time

Zarokh disappears and the center of the arena begins to glow faintly. Once players walk into the center of the arena a timer begins to count down and multiple hourglasses spawn around the arena.

Plan your path carefully, as the longer you are in this phase the slower you move. Its recommended to use Blink here in order to reach the hourglasses more quickly.

Having multiple players in the instance causes the slow to stack much faster, making the fight drastically more difficult. If you fail to reach all of the hourglasses in time Zarokh reenters the fight and freeze the player before instantly killing them.

Having 30-35% Movement speed boots is strongly recommended, including relics that boost movement speed and the Hare Foot Boon. The Affliction, Worn Sandals, makes this ability incredibly difficult to complete in time.

Note: The boss does not kill you right away, if you fail the event open the menu and logout to restart the fight.

Temporal Rift

Similar to the traps found on the 4th floor, Zarohk, the Temporal creates a clock that winds backwards before teleporting the player to the oldest mirage and exploding the rift.

Shifting Pylons

Zarohk creates multiple pylons that erratically rotate around the arena, dealing physical damage.

Boss Mechanics

Default Attack

• Tosses multiple whirling boomerangs that return to Zarokh.

Special Abilities

1. Orb Volley
   • Fires a volley of slow moving orbs. These orbs can be body blocked by minions.
2. Temporal Portal
   • Similar to the traps found on the 4th floor, Zarohk spawns 8 portals around the room that fire slow moving orbs.
3. Temporal Tendrils
   • At roughly 75% Zarohk teleports to the center of the room and spawns multiple time traps around the room. He then begin rotating firing multiple Temporal Tendrils while rotating counter-clockwise. He repeats this ability throughout the fight.

   • Similar to the traps found on the 4th floor, Zarohk creates a clock that winds backwards before teleporting the player to the farthest oldest mirage and exploding the rift.
8. Shifting Pylons
   • Zarohk creates multiple pylons that erratically rotate around the arena, dealing physical damage.

Scaling

Zarohk, the Temporal does not scale up in difficulty such as the other Pinnacle Bosses with an Atlas Tree. The Trial of Sekhamas does however, have multiple challenge runs available through the use of unique relics.
