Set Items Crafting
Last Updated:April 12, 2025|Changelog
Sets are a group of items that, when worn together, provide additional bonuses beyond what an individual Set Item offers. Prior to 1.2, the only way to receive these bonuses was by wearing the appropriate Set Items. The Woven Faction has since changed this by allowing Set Items to be Shattered into Shards that can then be crafted onto other items. In this guide, we discuss how Set Items work and how you can Shatter them to use in other items.
Set Items Explained
Set Items are similar to Uniques in that they are specific items that drop in the world with their own identifiable name and properties. However, they differ from Uniques in a very important way; each Set Item is part of a larger set of 2-3 items that, when worn together, provides specific bonuses that would otherwise be inaccessible.
This means they are much more powerful when worn together, but it also creates a significant downside. In order to fully benefit from these items, two or three gear slots must be reserved, and since Sets cannot become Legendaries they provide no stat flexibility. What you see is what you get, whether you want those stats or not.

Crafting Set Items
This downside can be overcome by using Set Item Shards to craft your own Set Items. To do so, you need to shatter a copy of the Set Item you want to turn into a shard. This is accomplished by completing The Great Bridge Woven Echo. At the end is a crafting station where you can place Set Items to Shatter them and obtain Set Item Shards, which can then be crafted onto any item that can use Shards (Example: Exalted items). However, Set Item Shard crafting is restricted to items that are of the same type as the Set Item Shard was shattered from (Example: A Set Item Shard from Blade of the Forgotten Knight can only be placed on One-Handed Swords).
Set Item Shards provide you with some of the affixes on the original Set Item as well as the Set Bonus you get from wearing multiple of that Set. Example: Blade of the Forgotten Knight Reforged Affix provides Increased Void Damage and Chance to Gain Haste for 1 Second on Hit, along with the Set Bonus from The Forgotten Knight Set.

Note: Set Item affixes cannot be used to make Legendaries, so don't use them on an Item you plan on combining with a Unique that has Legendary Potential.

Farming Set Items
Crafting with Set Affixes can create very powerful items, but to do so you need enough Set Items to Shatter. Here are some tips to help you speed up your farming:
- Merchant's Guild members can buy Set Items from the Bazaar as early as rank 2, making this a very easy way to acquire what you need.
- For Circle of Fortune, rank 4 will cause any Set Item to drop as the full Set. CoF can also purchase Prophecies that target the specific item type for that Set Item (Example: One Handed Sword Set Prophecies for Blade of the Forgotten Knight, which drops the entire Forgotten Knight set if you're rank 4 or higher) . Given the relatively few Set Items in the game, this is an efficient option.
- Some Set Items only drop from specific bosses (Example: The Shattered Lance set only drops from Godhunter Argentus). If so, target that boss until you have enough Shards.
- Echo rewards can be Set Items. This is inefficient compared to buying them from the Bazaar or running Prophecies, but can be a good supplemental source if you run across them in your Timelines.
- Rune of Ascendance can create Set Items. Since you choose the item type that is ascended, this can be a reasonably efficient option if you have a lot of Runes and no other use for them. Note that the pool of possible outcomes includes Uniques and CoF rank 4 does not apply, so this strategy is objectively worse than using the Bazaar or Prophecies.
