Resonance

Patch 1.0

Last Updated:July 7, 2024|Changelog

Resonance is a special item that allows you to gift items to players that weren't present when the item dropped. Understanding the different types of Resonances and how they work allows you to bypass trade restrictions and trade items with your friends.

The Purpose of Resonance

Resonance allows an item to be gifted to another player, even when they weren't there when the item dropped. Gifting using this method does not cost Gold or Favor.

  • Use Case 1: Two Players consistently play in a party together. One player then plays without the other being present and loots an item that would be useful to the missing player. Since the missing player was not there, they would not be eligible to receive the item through Gifting. Resonance solves this problem by allowing the item to become tradeable to the player that was not present.
  • Use Case 2: Both Players have joined the Merchant's Guild Item Faction. The normal method of trading an item in this case would be placing the item for sale on the Bazaar. This costs both players Favor to Sell and Buy the item, as well as the Gold cost attached to the item. Using a Resonance allows the item to be Gifted without paying any extra Favor or Gold cost.

It is important to remember that these consumables do not allow an item to be equipped by a player that does not meet the Faction Rank requirement tied to that item.

Example: An item that is created through a Faction Rank Reward such as Circle of Fortune's Idol Drop Chance (Rank 3) can't be used by the receiving player unless they are also Rank 3 with Circle of Fortune.

Earning Resonance

You can earn Resonance by playing in a party with another player for an extended period of time. Over the course of playing in a party, it eventually drops as loot to be picked up. The exact amount of time for a one to drop is unknown and slightly random. The rarity of the Resonance type also factors into how long it takes you to find these items. You can expect these consumables to drop fairly infrequently, so it is best to use them strategically when gifting items to friends.

Types of Resonance

There are two types of Resonances that each allow for the trade of different item qualities.

Golden Resonance

This is used to trade Normal, Magic, Rare, Unique, or Set Items. This type drops more frequently than the other.

Obsidian Resonance

Resonance Storage

When a Resonance is acquired, it is initially stored in the player’s inventory. When selecting “Transfer Materials” it is then transferred to the player’s Gifting Inventory. It is now available for use when choosing the ‘Gift Item’ interaction upon right clicking another player.

Gifting Items

When selecting the ‘Gift Item’ interaction with another player, a trade window opens up. This window has a place to insert the item as well as a sub-menu where a Resonance can be selected.

If the item is not eligible for trade a “Resonance Required” alert shows. When interacting with the Resonance menu, a dropdown list appears that shows all of the ones you own attached to the receiving player. When one is selected to use, the item becomes available to trade. It is consumed once the item is traded.
