Revenant Character Guide
Last Updated:May 30, 2025|Changelog
Revenant embodies the cycle of life and death. Between a game-changing Ultimate Art and a range of permanent and impermanent minions at her disposal, Revenant uses her necromantic and spellcasting prowess to swiftly turn the tides of battle. Though she begins each expedition with a Claw in her main hand, it becomes quickly evident that she is best relegated to backline duties as either a ranged DPS or pure support. Revenant's primary attribute is Faith and she strongly prefers Sacred Seals, but decent Intelligence and Arcane scaling grants her access to the full suite of spellcasting Armaments and others that inflict Status Ailments. This Revenant Character guide covers the Relics, Talismans, Armaments, and playstyle for this unique Nightfarer.
Relics
Revenant has a useful set of character skills to support allies by summoning numerous minions and preventing their death, as well as access a variety of incantations that Heal and negate incoming damage types. One of the more potent additions to this kit, however, is a class-specific relic that [Revenant]Strengthens family and allies when Ultimate Art is activated.
Some other good Relic modifiers to look out for include:
- +Faith / +Intelligence / +Vigor
- Flask Also Heals Allies
- Defeating enemies restores HP for allies but not for self
- Starlight Shards in possession at start of expedition
- Besmirched Frame (used to unlock Revenant)
- Night of the Wise - from conquering the Sentient Pest expedition

Talismans
Teardrop Scarabs can be found throughout Limveld and always drop a Talisman when killed. Defensively, look out for the Crimson Amber Medallion to improve Revenant's maximum HP and offset her low Vigor, Pearldrake Talisman and similar Talismans to negate non-physical damage, and Mottled Necklace to improve resistance to all Ailments. Offensively, Radagon Icon is a great choice to accelerate your spellcasting, reducing the risk of you being locked in animations. Carian Filigreed Crest lowers your FP consumption and Ancestral Spirit's Horn restores FP on kill, allowing you to more easily spam spells from Grace to Grace.
Weapons
A good rule of thumb is to grab whatever weapon (of the appropriate type) that gives you the biggest number. But there are some weapons that stand above the rest.

You should also check Merchants (especially those that appear at the Castle or in a Township) as they have a chance to carry rare and powerful weapons. These can be a bit expensive, but are absolutely worth it.
Sacred Seals
Sacred Seals are the preferred weapon type for Revenant, as their Faith scaling is most compatible with her inherent attributes. Many of the associated Incantations can be charged up or come with longer cast times, but your horde of minions and fellow Nightfarers help keep the pressure off. Dragon Incantations, such as Dragonfire, and other spells that scale off both Faith and Arcane are especially potent.
Shields
Defensively, Revenant can use all the help she can get. It is perfectly reasonable to hang out in the backline with a Sacred Seal and Great Shield to defend from any would-be ranged attackers. This can help buy time to bolster your party with spells and consumables or let your minions do the dirty work.
Staffs
With access to a much wider variety of spells, Staffs open the door to a more offensive playstyle. While Revenant’s Intelligence scaling is just average, she does have a gigantic FP pool to fall back on. Still, offensive spellcasting is often expensive, and Revenant has no inherent FP regeneration, unlike the Recluse, so you'd better stock up on Starlight Shards if you want to go this route.
Bows
With this large albeit limited FP pool, Revenant cannot afford to be entirely dependent on her spellcasting and she needs a backup ranged weapon. And while Revenant isn’t the most proficient Bow-wielder in the world, her moderate Arcane scaling makes bows that inflict Poison or Blood loss a reasonable secondary option. Even Rain of Arrows has reasonable scaling with Arcane, and the Full Moon Crossbow is noteworthy for its Arcane scaling.
Weapon Passives
All equipment found has a passive effect, most of which are active regardless of whether the item is equipped or not. For Revenant, take items that help her sustain FP or negate various damage types. The equipment doesn't have to be weapons typical to the character; on Revenant, a Greatsword's passive is just as strong as a Sacred Seal’s passive. There are only six equipment slots, so use them wisely. If a passive effect has this hand symbol, that means it is only active while you are using the weapon.

Passive Character Traits
Also known as traits. These are the rewards you select from after defeating greater foes. They provide your character with upgrades for the current run. As with Talismans, Revenant benefits most from increased health to offset her low starting pool, elemental damage negation, ailment resistance, and especially reduced FP cost and increased FP recovery.
If you opted for a Bow with the appropriate status, Revenant makes good use of inflicting Poison, Blood Loss, and Scarlet Rot, making these excellent bonuses not only for you but for your entire team. Be sure to communicate with your teammates what Statuses you are inflicting.

Playstyle
Does Revenant have a modest selection of melee weapons suitable for her? Yes. Should she use them? Under almost no circumstances. Revenant is best played from the backline, allowing her minions and other Nightfarers to do the dirty work while supporting them with heals, damage reduction auras, and ranged damage. Starlight Shards are your best friend, as Revenant has no built-in tools to sustain FP. While her spectral subjects are little more than fodder, holding Revenant's Ultimate Art for the right moment can completely change the trajectory of an Expedition.
Abilities
Passive Ability - Necromancy
Revenant’s Passive ability grants a chance to resummon felled enemies as spectral allies when she or her Spirit deals the final blow. This Passive can trigger on multiple enemies simultaneously and the phantoms last for roughly one minute. This ability does not work on Night Bosses or Nightlords, and her Ultimate Art does not keep these temporary allies alive. However, the ability does apply to a variety of other strong enemies, up to and including Mini Bosses.
Character Skill – Summon Spirit
In addition to the on-death allies summoned by her Passive, Revenant uses her harp to call upon one of three Spirits on command: Helen the Page, Frederick the Pumpkin Head, and Sebastian the Giant Skeleton. Only one of these Spirits can be active at a time but can be swapped out at will. They each possess their own “Ultimate” skill (activated when Revenant uses Immortal March) and passively regenerate HP when they are inactive. If one dies, they must recover a certain amount of HP before they can be resummoned. While these allies excel at dealing with weaker foes, they deal poor damage and succumb quickly to Night Bosses and Nightlords. So, outside of clearing Key Locations, they are mostly relegated to temporarily distracting greater foes and assisting to revive allies that are Near Death.
Theoretically, Revenant's passive and active summons give her an endless army at her disposal. Use these minions as a frontline while supporting your party or dealing ranged damage with their provided safety.
Ultimate Art - Immortal March
Revenant’s Ultimate Art has a wide variety of effects, but a few good use cases. Each of her summoned Spirits uses a unique ability when Revenant casts Immortal March, Sebastian's Comet Azur being the most effective for damage. But, more often than not, you should use this ability for its other properties. To start, Revenant and her allies cannot be downed while this ability is active (though they can still take their entire health bar in damage). Further, if another Nightfarer is already Near Death, tagging them with this ability revives them instantly! Needless to say, judicious use of this Ultimate Art can completely turn the tides of a battle. Use it late in a fight for that final push of damage or to bring your party back from the brink.

Summary
Revenant is a ranged DPS and support character in Elden Ring: Nightreign. She strongly prefers wielding Sacred Seals and utilizing spells that scale off both Faith and Arcane. Though Revenant's FP pool is among the largest in the game, she has no inherent FP recovery mechanics, and it's advisable to have a backup ranged weapon or a healthy stock of Starlight Shards. She commands an unrelenting necromantic army that supports her DPS and serves as a disposable frontline. Revenant's Ultimate Art is potentially game-changing, but it must be reserved until just the right moment.
