Last Updated:October 1, 2024|Change Log
The Treasure Hunter's quest leads you on a winding journey through Chapter 3 of Black Myth Wukong. After locating and assisting him twice to learn the Watermelon field's location you need to defeat the Green-Capped Martialist. After this, you are rewarded with the Spell Binder, a powerful ability that increases your martial prowess in exchange for sealing your Spells, Spirits, and Vessels.
The Fireproof Mantle is the perfect counter for the Green-Capped Martialist's transition moves. If you don't already have it you can follow our Elder Jinchi Quest Guide to obtain the vessel!
First Treasure Hunter Location
You first encounter the Treasure Hunter after reaching the North Shore of Bitter Lake, if you're not there yet, continue to progress the main story.
- Start from the North Shore of Bitter Lake Shrine, head left along the shoreline until you encounter the temple entrance.
- Go through the gates and continue up the path.
- At the end of the path you encounter the Treasure Hunter, he's under attack from several Apramana Bats.
- Fighting 3 enemies at once is risky, especially since they can inflict freeze!
- Pop your A Pluck of Many at the start of the fight to give the bats additional targets. Then, use your other spells to kill the first couple as quickly as possible.
- After defeating all the enemies, speak to the Treasure Hunter and exhaust his dialogue.
Second Treasure Hunter Location
You next encounter the Treasure Hunter right next to the Towers of Karma Shrine in the Village of Ecstacy. This time, he's struggling with the weather, use your Ring of Fire Spell to warm him up then speak to him and exhaust his dialogue. He leaves you with an enigmatic clue that the Watermelon Fields are located at the base of a cliff, but which cliff?
Watermelon Field Location
The Watermelon Fields are also located within the Village of Ecstacy, this time you start from the Forest of Felicity Shrine. While the location is far enough from the beaten path that you're unlikely to wander into it, there are some landmarks you can follow to find it.
- First up, beginning from the Forest of Felicity Shrine, turn around and take the path directly down.
- After reaching the bottom you come across a lake with a waterfall, follow the water until it ends near a cliff.
- There are a couple of torches, marking a path that ends between two lit braziers at the cliff's edge.
- Jump down, then head across the fallen tree before jumping down again.
- Stop at the shrine to prepare for the Green-Capped Martialist encounter before entering the cave.
- The Fireproof Mantle Vessel is an effective counter for his transition mechanic.
- You can also use the Cloud Step Spell to provide a decoy.
- Make sure to rest before entering the cave to restore your Health, Mana, Gourd, and other resources.
Green-Capped Martialist Boss Tips & Tricks
As it turns out, the Treasure Hunter has been leading you on a ruse, in the Watermelon Fields he reveals his true form and attacks the Destined One. The Green-Capped Martialist is an agile attacker who uses Flaming Chakram. He doesn't have a lot of health, but his mobility makes it difficult to find a window of opportunity to use slower abilities like a charged Heavy Attack. One window of opportunity is right at the start of the fight, after you dodge his initial attack you can cast your A Pluck of Many to burn the boss's health.
Green-Capped Martialist Boss Tips
Here are a few moves you need to pay attention to when fighting against the Green-Capped Martialist.
- The Green-Capped Martialist frequently chains his attack sequences together, this makes it difficult to complete a Light Attack chain without dodging in between. Most of his attacks are sweeping strikes so your dodge timing is more important than the direction you dodge in.
- Usually, he opens the fight by firing a fiery ray at the Destined One and following it up with a wave of projectiles. Dodge left or right to avoid the beam then dodge again or sprint to avoid the projectiles.
- At around 60% Health, the Green-Capped Martialist transforms himself into a Chakram before rolling across the room.
- Dodge each charge, or use your Cloud Step to create a clone that distracts the Chakram.
- He repeats this transition at around 40% Health, this time with 2 Chakrams.
- It's much harder to dodge charges coming from two different directions but you can use the Fireproof Mantle to grant yourself temporary fire immunity. The charges still knock you back but no longer deal damage.
- After you beat the Green-Capped Martialist, he runs away and you watch a cutscene with the conclusion of the Treasure Hunter's quest.
