Steelheart PvP Build Guide
Last Updated:June 14, 2025|Changelog
Welcome to the Steelheart PvP Build Guide. This is the big brawler Tank in Throne and Liberty, leveraging the strengths of both weapons for a ton of Attack Speed and Heavy Attack Chance.
Steelheart has some of the best melee AoE potential in the game due to skills like Javelin Inferno and Phoenix Barrage. Spear also offers the only fear in the game with Death From Above.
In exchange for the AoE potential, you are less durable than other Sword and Shield builds. Your multi-use abilities require you to use your spear in your main hand, denying you the defenses from your Sword and Shield passives.

PvP Gear Progression
Acquiring Gear pieces and upgrading them is incredibly expensive and time-consuming. If you enjoy both PvE and PvP content, just use these sets for PvE as well.
- There is no "Best Build", Talandre Gear allows for a wide variety of builds leading to different metas depending on your Server.
- Use the builds as a base, and swap different pieces around to fit the stats needed to combat your Server's meta.
- With the introduction of earrings, use the easier to obtain Brilliant Regal Earrings for Endurance builds or Earrings of Forlorn Elegance for Evasion builds.
- Depending on which works best for your Attribute stat distribution, eventually use either Earrings of Glimmering Dew or Gilded Granite Teardrops for Endurance builds, or Earrings of Primal Foresight or Bloodright Earrings for Evasion builds.
- Critical Damage Reduction, Attack Speed or Shield Block Chance Pierce
- Critical Damage Reduction counters the Critical Damage Increase from Death Set and other sources.
- Shield Block Chance Pierce counters Sword and Shield Block Chance.
- Attack Speed is self-explanatory.
Going Shield Block Chance Pierce is best if you want more overall damage to players, including tanks. Use the Attack Speed Rune Synergy if you want more overall damage to everyone who is not a tank. Critical Damage Reduction will reduce the damage taken when an enemy Crits. This is great for defense. You can go for any Rune Synergy that best fits your situation. EVERY SERVER META IS DIFFERENT.
- STR, PER, DEX, or WIS
- + PER should also help you hit 70 Perception if you desire.
- + DEX is purely an offensive Rune Synergy effect.
- + STR is helpful to hit 50 Strength or 60 Strength if needed.
Usually, players take runes depending on the stat they need to hit the necessary breakpoints.
Consider the defensive and offensive breakpoints other classes can reach when building your gear.
- Melee
- Fully built Sword and Shield users reach 2000+ base Ranged and Magic Endurance.
- The amount varies depending on Trait Resonances and Runes.
- With the Palace Guard's Plate Armor item set, they will take even less damage.
- Fully built Sword and Shield users reach 2000+ base Ranged and Magic Endurance.
- Ranged
- Bow / Daggers and Staff / Daggers can reach 2000+ base Ranged and Magic Evasion pre-buffed without sacrificing damage. The specific numbers depend on the Runes the player slots and the Trait Resonance they use.
- Support
- If Bow / Wands follow the builds on this site, they can reach 2000+ Ranged and Magic Endurance with 500+ Heavy Attack Evasion. As mentioned above, these numbers differ depending on the Runes and Trait Resonance.
Considering the above, it's hard to find a one-size-fits-all solution. How you gear will entirely depend on the meta of your server.
- Is your server full of high Evasion users? Do you usually target those players? If so, build more Hit Chance.
4-Pc Vanguard
Level 55 Steelheart Transition Build
- Obtain your gear through Adventure Coin: Fighting Spirit, 2-star and 3-star Dungeons and Material Transmutation.
- Listen, you won't kill any geared players with your leveling or T1 gear.
- You must try to get T2 gear as quickly as possibly by PvE'ing.
- The ideal build to choose is heavily dependent on your server meta.
- Talandre Gear offers many different gear pieces from which you can choose.
- Use these builds as a base and swap different pieces depending on your need.
Triple Endurance Steelheart PvP Build
Stats and Gearing Logic
- This is a triple Endurance Build. In T2 Sword and Shield / Spear plays mostly as a disruptor using skills as Death From Above, Tempest Strike, Chain Hook and Strategic Rush.
- With 70 Fortitude you reach ~2400 Melee, Magic Endurance, and ~2900 Range Endurance.
- No one will be able to Crit against you without first buffing themselves or debuffing you.
- This is a high Collision Resistance and Collision Chance build.
- You will have ~1600 Collision Resist and ~1400 Collision Chance.
- Swap pieces in and out to match the server meta you are playing against.
Skill Builds and Rotation
PvP Build
General PvP Build
- This is a general PvP build. It has good damage, CC and several defensive skills.
- Spear is a Mana hungry weapon, when you run out of Mana blocking incoming damage helps regain mana back. You might find yourself getting out of combat to drink milk and get full mana.
Global Cooldown Priority
- Unyielding Sentinel
- This is an excellent defensive skill that provides a 4,000 barrier.
- Gale Rush
- This is your gap closer ability which you can also use on an ally to knock enemies off them.
- Tempest Strike
- This skill is your CC ability. It pushes everyone around you away and stuns them. If they are feared or branded by your spear, it knocks them prone instead.
- Javelin Inferno
- This is your strongest damage dealing ability when people are clumped together. It bounces off of 4 targets and deal massive damage. This also CCs enemies, applying a slow which reduces their movement speed by 50%.
- Explosive Fury
- This skill provides the Embers you use to throw javelins. It does good damage and if players are lined up or close enough that you hit multiple targets.
- Death From Above
- This is your initiating skill. You choose a target and dive into them fearing enemies around that target.
Initiate Rotation
- Unyielding Sentinel
- Death From Above
- Tempest Strike
- This trips the feared targets
- Explosive Fury
- Additional damage
- You finish with Javelin Inferno.
Guardians
Guardians are special transformations that add offensive or defensive buffs or attacks to your character for 30 seconds. These are the recommended Guardians for this class.
- Green Ranger Elowen is your go-to. Keeping targets in place for the rest of your guild or group is incredibly valuable. Additionally, when the Guardian is active you gain 500 additional Critical Hit against any target you hit that is rooted by Green Ranger Elowen.
- Another option is Vampire Slayer Ezekiel. He increases your Magic/Ranged/Melee Defense by 400 and deals damage equal to 0.6% of your Max Health to enemies within 2.5m of you. You are healed by 20% of the damage dealt. This is definitely more situational and usually is not run with SnS / GS, however it is a second Guardian you can look at if you don't need the root from Green Ranger Elowen.
Summary
- Steelheart is a fast paced multi-ability use tank with great initiation, CC and damage.
- Steelheart not being the tankiest class, you would be a mid to front tank as a lot of your skills have a decent range.
- Death From Above is the only longest range engage skill in the game, fears enemy players and creates opportunities for your team to capitalize on.
