Crafting an Elemental Bow for Lightning Arrow or Tornado Shot

Crafting a solid Bow for Lightning Arrow Builds in Path of Exile is easy if you know what to do. Follow this simple step-by-step guide to craft your own. By following the process below you'll be able to make a Bow resembling the one here.

Step 1

Getting Your Base

Buy an Item Level 82+ Bow with Fractured Flat Elemental Damage of Tier 2 or higher off of trade. The best bases to choose from are:

Spine Bow (Best option)
Ivory Bow (Same as Spine Bow)
Bone Bow (Same as Spine Bow)
Thicket Bow
Grove Bow
Imperial Bow

Since this will be an expensive craft, it is recommended to pay the premium for one of these bases.

Tip: Use Perfect Fossils until 24%+ Quality.

Step 2

Crafting your Prefixes

Use whichever of these 3 Deafening Essences are cheapest off of trade on your bow until you see Tier 2+ Flat Elemental Damage of the modifier that you don't have yet:

Deafening Essence of Anger
Deafening Essence of Hatred
Deafening Essence of Wrath

Keep in mind you can't use an Essence of the Fractured Flat Elemental Damage that your already have on your bow. (Example: if your bow has fractured Adds (124-170) to (250-290) Cold Damage you cannot use a Deafening Essence of Hatred)

Once your bow looks like the one on the left, move on to the next step.

Step 3

Crafting your Suffixes

For the Suffixes you will unveil (12-15)% increased Attack Speed or (28-32)% increased Critical Strike Chance then finish with a benchcrafted modifier.

If you have 2 Suffixes you will need to benchcraft Prefixes Cannot be Changed then use an Orb of Scouring before using a Veiled Orb. Remember to recraft Prefixes Cannot be Changed before doing so.

Veiled Orb

removes the Prefixes Cannot be Changed, benchcraft one of these 3 modifiers:

(7-8)% increased Damage per Endurance Charge
(7-8)% increased Damage per Frenzy Charge
(7-8)% increased Damage per Power Charge

This will increase the chances of unveiling one of the necessary Veiled Suffixes for your bow. Choose one of these:

+(25-28) to Strength and Intelligence, (28-32)% increased Critical Strike Chance (Best)
+(25-28) to Dexterity and Intelligence, (12-15)% increased Attack Speed (Second Choice unless you unveil 14-15%)
15% chance to Trigger Level 1 Blood Rage when you Kill an Enemy, (12-15)% increased Attack Speed
(12-14)% chance to deal Double Damage (only if you have enough Critical Strike Chance without it crafted on the bow)

If Jun doesn't offer any of these choices, benchcraft Prefixes Cannot be Changed then use an Orb of Scouring. After, buy another Veiled Orb to try again after recrafting the Metamod.

Adding your Last Suffix

Once you've acquired the right unveil, benchcraft (25-27)% increased Critical Strike Chance or (11-13)% increased Attack Speed then use an Exalted Orb for a chance at adding anything useful for your last Suffix. +#% to Global Critical Strike Multiplier would be best.

Finishing Up

Tri-Elemental Bow (Lightning Arrow)

Go to your Horticrafting Bench and Enchant your Bow with Quality does not increase Physical Damage 1% increased Attack Speed per 8% Quality for 5000 Vivid Lifeforce to finish. Your Bow is now complete!

Crafting Process: Endgame Bow

Step 1

Getting Your Base

To start crafting an endgame Elemental Bow, buy an Item Level 86+ Bow with Fractured Bow Attacks fire 2 additional Arrows or make one yourself with Fracturing Orbs. Choose one of these 3 bases(they are all effectively the same for an Elemental Bow):

Spine Bow
Ivory Bow
Bone Bow

Use Perfect Fossil before crafting until the bow is at least 24% quality.

Step 2

Essences

Use one of these 3 Essences until you see Tier 1 of another flat added Elemental Damage Prefix:

Deafening Essences of Hatred
Deafening Essences of Wrath
Deafening Essences of Anger

Note: Deafening Essences of Hatred are best since an Augment Cold is the most expensive of the 3. Be sure to use these if they aren't more expensive than the other 2.

After Essencing into a Tier 1 added flat Elemental Prefix, you need an open Prefix and an open Suffix for the next Step. Use Orbs of Annulment to remove excess modifiers. If you Annul either your Essence or Tier 1 Elemental Prefix go back to Step 2.

Note: If one of your Prefixes is +1 to Level of Socketed Gems, remove it with Cannot Roll Attack Mods + Orb of Annulment.

Before the next Step, make sure there are 2 Suffixes on your Bow. If Bow Attacks fire 2 additional Arrows is your only Suffix, benchcraft a Prefix then use an Exalted Orb to add one.

Finishing the Prefixes

Benchcraft Prefixes Cannot be Changed then use a Harvest Augment Cold/Fire/Lightning depending on the Elemental Damage you are missing. You are looking for at least Tier 3 or higher. This will take around 7 Augments on Average so the majority of your currency on the craft will be spent here.

Whenever the Augment doesn't slam Tier 3 or higher, use Orbs of Annulment for a 1/3 chance at removing the Prefix then go again. Remember to add a Suffix using the method from Step 3 if you only have 1 Suffix. If you Annul either your Essence or Tier 1 Elemental Prefix go back to Step 2.

To finish the Elemental Bow, buy a Veiled Orb. If you have an extra Suffix make sure to remove it by benchcrafting Prefixes Cannot be Changed then use an Orb of Scouring. Benchcraft Prefixes Cannot be Changed again before using the

Veiled Orb

. After it adds a Veiled Suffix, benchcraft one of these 3 mods:

(5-6)% increased Damage per Endurance Charge
(5-6)% increased Damage per Frenzy Charge
(5-6)% increased Damage per Power Charge

Go to Jun and unveil either of these 3 choices:

+(25-28) to Dexterity and Intelligence, (12-15)% increased Attack Speed
15% chance to Trigger Level 1 Blood Rage when you Kill an Enemy, (12-15)% increased Attack Speed
+(25-28) to Strength and Intelligence, (28-32)% increased Critical Strike Chance

If you are not given any of these, benchcraft Prefixes Cannot be Changed again then use an Orb of Scouring before to trying again after recrafting the Metamod.

Step 6

Finishing Up

+2 Arrow, Elemental

For your last modifier, benchcraft either Attack Speed or increased Critical Strike Chance depending on what you didn't unveil.

If your bow isn't 6-linked at this point, you can use your crrafting bench to add 6 sockets and then fully link it for 1500 Orb of Fusing.

As a final step, go to your Horticrafting Bench and Enchant your Bow with Quality does not increase Physical Damage, 1% increased Attack Speed per 8% Quality for 5000 Vivid Lifeforce to finish.
