Tytalos Introduction

Tytalos is the last Raid Level 2 Guardian and you need to be at least 580 Item Level to enter this Guardian Raid. This Guardian drops Tier 1 Accessories, Upgrade Materials and Ability Stones as well as rare drops including Runes, Engraving Books and Cards. It takes 10% more damage from Fire Element skills.

This Guardian has a way smaller attack pool compared to the previous TIER 2 Guardian, Yoho of the Flames. Even if the pace of the fight feels slow, some signature skills can punish you severely if you are careless.

This is the first time you get introduced to a one shot mechanic, meaning you instantly die if the interaction isn't performed properly. The signature attack of Tytalos is called, Annihilation which requires you to interact with the sand cyclones at the correct moment. If the timing is off, you get one shot.

This Guardian guide assumes you know the basics of a Guardian Raid. Check out the General Guardian Raid Guide to learn more.

Special Interactions & Patterns

Counterable Charge
Sand Cyclones
Earthquake
Annihilation

Counterable Charge

Counter attack is possible during the charge attack pattern. At the start of this attack animation, the Guardian glows blue. The player has a short window to cast a skill with a Counter Attack affix while standing in front of the Guardian. If you manage to pull this off fast enough, the Guardian's attack will be interrupted and staggered for a few seconds. This gives you and your team a short window to use buffs and deal additional damage.

This charge attack can hit you multiple times and deal moderate damage if you fail to time your counter skills properly.

Sand Cyclones

Tytalos summons 2 sand cyclones. The cyclones are often stationary or moving slowly towards a random player. After the Guardian uses the Earthquake attack, the cyclones chase a random player with greater speed for a few seconds.

If you get hit by one of the cyclones, you take low damage every second. Each damage tick applies a slow debuff which petrifies the player once it reaches 3 stacks. The debuff stacks accumulate twice as fast if you are getting hit by both cyclones.

The petrification lasts for 5 seconds and is an important mechanic to take advantage of so you can avoid getting one shot by the Annihilation attack. Once the petrification ends, the player gets a 30 second debuff that prevents accumulation of the slow debuff and petrification.

You can use Panacea to remove the 30 second debuff, if you got petrified unintentionally. This needs to be done if you got petrified way too early and can't afford to wait out the 30 seconds to get petrified on time for the Annihilation attack.

Earthquake

Tytalos slams 3 times on the ground and deals low damage to surrounding players. This attack is always performed shortly before the Guardian uses the Annihilation attack.

Between the Earthquake and the Annihilation attack, the Guardian usually performs 3 normal attacks. This can be reduced to two or even one attack based on the animation time of the attacks used, or if the Guardian had to chase after a player for a long time. If you see an attack with a long animation like Sand Waves you can expect there to be less than 3 attacks.

Annihilation

This attack has a huge range and one shots on hit. To avoid getting one shot, you either need to be outside of the attack range or you need to be petrified. This is why it is important to keep an eye on the cyclone's positions and to count the attacks after Tytalos performs the Earthquake attack.

The perfect time to get petrified is when the Annihilation attack animation starts. If both Sand Cyclones are overlapping, you can get petrified way faster. If the cyclones are not overlapping you need to be close to one of them and already have at least one slow debuff stack on you by the time the attack animation starts.

If you get petrified too early and can't use Panacea to remove the 30 seconds debuff in time, the only option left will be running away. After the Earthquake attack you need to start running away as soon as the Guardian uses a 2nd attack to get away in time.

General Patterns

Paw Strike
Paw Slam
Backstep
Silence
Breath
Bombs Spawning Circle
Sand Waves
Ring of Doom

Paw Strike

Similar to other Guardian's Paw Strike attacks, Tytalos targets a player in front of it and strikes twice. The first strike staggers the player and the second strike knocks the player up. This attack deals low damage.

Paw Slam

Tytalos slightly lifts its upper body and slams to the ground sending out a shockwave. This shockwave hits everyone in front of the Guardian at 120° angle and knocks them back.

Backstep

Tytalos simply jumps backwards. This attack won't deal any damage but increases the chance of getting hit by any follow up attacks if you don't close the gap between you and the guardian fast enough.

Silence

The Guardian summons 2 circles at random spots, which descend to the ground fast and silence everyone within for a few seconds.

If you are an Swiftness based class, you can easily walk out of the area before the circle hits the ground. If you lack Movement Speed, you have to either use a mobility skill or spacebar to avoid the silence debuff.

Breath

Tytalos sits down for a brief moment and performs a breath attack hitting everyone in front of it. This attack deals medium damage and slightly knocks back on hit.

Bombs Spawning Circle

Tytalos summons a bomb spawning circle at a random spot close to the Guardian. This circle summons two bombs at different times which aggro to the closest player. The bombs explode once they get close to the player or if they get destroyed. The explosions deal massive damage and kill most squishy classes.

To prevent the bombs from spawning, one player needs to stay in the circle at all times, any support class can do this job well. Summons like the harp from the Bard, flowers from Summoner and turrets from Blaster can also prevent the bombs from spawning.

Sand Waves

The Guardian summons multiple sand waves which deal medium damage and knock down the player on hit. There are two different wave patterns.

The first pattern is called the parallel wave pattern. This is by far the best pattern, you can just stay close behind the Guardian and deal free uninterrupted damage.

The second pattern is the diagonal wave pattern. For this pattern you can position yourself diagonally behind the boss until the first waves pass you and the spot behind the boss is safe. After that you can go behind the boss and deal some damage until the attack animation is over.

Ring of Doom

Tytalos slams 3 times on the ground and summons multiple circles around the guardian at random spots with each slam. These circles explode shortly afterwards, dealing massive damage and knocking up the player on hit.
The most dangerous part about this attack is that after getting knocked up once, you might get hit by the successively spawning circles. That is why you should focus more on dodging and less on dealing damage to the guardian during this entire attack animation.
