Calventus Introduction

Calventus is the third Raid Level 3 Guardian and you need to be at least 880 Item Level to enter this Guardian Raid. This Guardian drops Tier 2 Accessories, Upgrade Materials and Ability Stones as well as rare drops including Runes, Engraving Books and Cards. It takes 10% more damage from Light Element skills.

Calventus is a Guardian with high mobility that applies a stacking Armor Debuff with some of his attacks . This Debuff should be cleansed once you have more than 3 stacks. This can be done with Panacea, Sacred Charm(Needs to be used by a teammate.) or by making use of the cleansing skills from the Gunlancer, Paladin or Soulfist.

This Guardian has 2 Phases. Around 5 minutes after starting the Guardian fight or after escaping to a different area, the Guardian transitions to Phase 2 which modifies existing attacks and adds new ones to his arsenal. During Phase 2, you have to prevent Calventus from absorbing Dark Orbs. If he absorbs 4 of these, the Guardian enrages and becomes faster and stronger.

This Guardian guide assumes you know the basics of a Guardian Raid. Check out the General Guardian Raid Guide to learn more.

Calventus - Special Interactions & Patterns

Counterable Charge
Dark Orbs
Recovery

Counterable Charge

Counter attack is possible during the charge attack pattern. At the start of this attack animation, the Guardian glows blue. The player has a short window to cast a skill with a Counter Attack affix while standing in front of the Guardian. If you manage to pull this off fast enough, the Guardian's attack will be interrupted and staggered for a few seconds. This gives you and your team a short window to use buffs and deal additional damage.

Be aware, after finishing the Charge animation, the Guardian unleashes a small Area of Effect (AoE) attack around him which knocks up players on hit. Make sure to wait one second before closing the gap to Calventus.

Calventus performs this attack much quicker and up to 2 times in a row while he is enraged.

Dark Orbs

After entering Phase 2, Calventus summons multiple big Dark Orbs around him in different intervals. These orbs slowly move towards the Guardian and if they reach the Guardian they are consumed by him. Once 4 orbs are consumed, Calventus enrages.

To prevent the Enrage, you have to spread out and destroy the orbs as fast as possible. The support in your team might struggle to destroy those fast enough. After destroying the orbs close to you, rotate and help your teammates. If you lack damage or your skills are on cooldown, simply auto attack (AA) it to slow it down and prevent Calventus from absorbing it.

Once the Guardian is enraged, the orbs start to chase a nearby player instead. They explode dealing damage and applying the Armor Debuff once close to a player.

Recovery

Calventus can be incapacitated by dealing enough Stagger Damage. When Recovering from incapacitation for the first time he will unleash a rain of darkness around him. Make sure to run away from the Guardian once he starts to recover.

If you don't incapacitate the Guardian before the 4-5 min mark he unleashes the rain of darkness before transitioning to Phase 2.

General Patterns

Backwards Jump
Big Impact
Dark Rain
Hovering Slam
Orb Explosion
Slam
Tail Swipe

Backwards Jump

Phase 1
Phase 2

The Guardian jumps backwards to reposition himself. This attack doesn't deal any damage, but be aware of the follow-up attacks!

In Phase 2, the Guardian hovers in the air for a few seconds after performing the Backwards Jump and sends out 5 tornadoes in a cone-shaped area in front. On hit, the Tornadoes knock up the player and apply the Armor Debuff.

Big Impact

The Guardian flies up to the sky and vanishes from the screen. After a slight delay he drops on the highlighted area and deals massive damage which can one hit. Make sure to dodge away from the impact area as soon as possible!

Dark Rain

This attack is similar to the previously mentioned Big Impact. The major difference is that the Guardian summons multiple waves of Dark Rain. The Dark Rain gradually closes to the final impact area of the Guardian.

If you react fast enough, you can run away from the rain and impact area and safely wait until the attack is over. If that isn't the case, stay in the final impact area, wait until the last rain wave hits the ground and move out immediately before Calventus crashes back to the ground.

Hovering Slam

Calventus lifts above the ground for a brief moment before slamming back down dealing damage and knocking up everyone in a cone-shaped area in front of him.

Orb Explosion

Calventus fires a single orb towards a player in front. Upon hitting the ground, it explodes and deals decent damage. While enraged, the orb's explosion radius and damage are significantly increased.

Normal
Turning
Forward

Slam

A simple slam attack targeting a player in front of the Guardian which staggers on hit.

Turning Slam

This attack is similar to the Normal Slam but slightly homes in to the target which makes it harder to avoid.

Forward Slam

A slam attack performed while moving forwards. Calventus can use this attack 2 consecutive times.

Tail Swipe

Calventus slams his tail behind him and follows up with a Tail Swipe attack to the side. On hit this attack knock up the player. There is a safe spot slightly left and right of the Guardian's tail. Make sure to move to that spot after the initial tail slam or move out of the swipe area.
