Contraverse Hold Void Warlock Build
Last Updated:October 10, 2024|Changelog
Welcome to the Contraverse Hold Void Warlock Build guide! Spam your supercharged Void grenades that Weaken targets, debuffing enemies for you and your fireteam. Spread Volatile with your Void weapons and become near unkillable thanks to Devour. With this combination of crowd control and survivability, it’s equipped to handle any challenge thrown your way.
This Void Warlock build is centered around using your Vortex Grenade like no other class can. By combining this grenade with the Chaos Accelerant aspect and the Exotic gauntlets Contraverse Hold, you wield immensely powerful grenades that pull enemies inward towards its point of impact and deal significant single-target damage. Hits from your overcharged Vortex Grenade return a portion of your grenade energy, allowing you to maintain a near-constant supply of grenades.
Feed the Void grants you the extremely powerful healing buff, Devour, when defeating enemies with your Void abilities. In addition, defeating enemies with your Vortex Grenades grants Volatile Rounds to your Void weapons, enabling them to apply the Volatile debuff to anything you shoot. Enemies afflicted with Volatile explode in a burst of Void energy after taking enough damage, amplifying your crowd control potential. Another nice benefit of Volatile Rounds is that they allow your Void weapons to pierce Barrier Champion shields.
- Self-healing from Devour.
- On demand debuff from grenade.
- Kills not needed for grenade ability regen.
- Lack of defense.
- Harder to keep Devour up in a fireteam.
Gameplay Loop
- Hold to charge your Vortex Grenades, then throw it into a group of enemies. This Void Grenade pulls targets towards the point of impact, lingering longer thanks to Chaos Accelerant. Hits with this grenade return grenade ability energy with Contraverse Hold.
- Defeating targets with grenades drop Orbs of Power and grant Devour through one of your chosen aspects, Feed the Void. Keeping this buff active is your number one priority. Devour keeps you alive and provides grenade regeneration for every kill while under its effect.
- Always charge your Vortex Grenades before every throw. If you don't, Contraverse Hold's Exotic perk won't activate, and you won't receive the initial return of grenade energy.
- Your melee, Pocket Singularity, is a secondary measure if Devour falls off before your grenade energy is fully refunded. It can also push enemies back if you're in a sticky situation or need to apply Volatile.
- Ashes to Assets leverages grenade kills to rapidly charge your Super, Nova Bomb: Cataclysm. This ability is effective against bosses or groups of enemies.
Ability Breakdown
Super
- Nova Bomb: Cataclysm
- Using the power of Void Light, you throw out a dying star that detonates on impact. Upon detonation, Void seekers are released which track other nearby enemies.
Abilities
- Empowering Rift - The healing from Devour is more than enough in most cases. Use this Rift to empower yourself and allies inside of it by 20% for 15 seconds.
- Burst Glide - Use your favorite jump ability.
- Pocket Singularity - This is the only Void melee ability for Warlocks. Push enemies away and inflict Volatile.
- Vortex Grenade - The focus of the Contraverse Hold Void Warlock build. Create a vortex that pulls targets inward and damages enemies caught inside. Vortex Grenade also applies Weaken from the Echo of Undermining fragment.
Aspects
- Feed the Void - Defeating targets with a Void ability activates Devour. Every kill while under the effects of this buff heals you to and returns grenade ability energy.
- Chaos Accelerant - Overcharge your Vortex Grenade, increasing extending the duration of the grenade and its area of effect.
You cannot charge your Void grenade abilities without the use of the Chaos Accelerant aspect.
Fragments
- Echo of Remnants - Your Vortex Grenade lasts 50% longer. This allows for maximum damage output and is perfect for enemy spawn points or elite enemies.
- Echo of Undermining - Void grenades Weaken for you and your fireteam.
- Echo of Starvation - Provides an easier way to gain Devour.
- Echo of Instability - Targets defeated with your grenade ability grant Volatile Rounds to your Void weapons, increasing damage and causing explosions after a certain damage threshold is met. These rounds also pierce Barrier Champion's shields.
Gearing
Required Gear and Weapons
Contraverse Hold - While charging grenades, your Warlock is surrounded by a Void shield that provides a 20% damage resistance. Void grenade hits proc the Exotic effect, granting increased base grenade regeneration rate for 1.75 seconds. Vortex Grenades are able to activate this perk twice if targets are damaged by the initial impact of the grenade and the last few ticks of the ability.

Stat Priorities
- Resilience > Discipline > Recovery
- Resilience is the most crucial stat to focus on. Aim for 100 Resilience to maximize your damage resistance and shield capacity, ensuring better survivability in challenging encounters.
- Discipline decreases the cooldown on your grenade ability, allowing it to charge faster if Devour has fallen off.
- Recovery governs the cooldown on the Warlocks class ability and decreases the time it takes to regenerate your health and shields.
