The Scholar Profession focuses on concocting solvents to refine basic materials from every other crafting-related profession, such as ingots, planks, bricks, leather, and cloth. Additionally, you can inscribe research papers, which play a crucial role in founding your first settlement.
This guide for the game is based on the information available in the BitCraft Early Access. As development continues, you can expect new content and balance changes. Pin BitCraft guides to stay notified of future updates.
Stations
There is only one station you mainly interact with while leveling the Scholar profession:
Scholar Station
Use Basic Pigments harvested from flowers to create ink, and inscribe journals and research papers at the Scholar Station. Most rare materials, such as Rough Gypsite obtained from Mud Mound nodes, are processed into new ingredients required to refine basic materials. This station provides EXP for the Scholar Profession.

Beginner's Study Journal
One of the first materials you unlock at the Scholar Station is Rough Parchment, which you need in order to gain Scholar levels and learn subsequent recipes. Follow the steps below to unlock and craft a Beginner's Study Journal, which requires 2x Rough Parchment, 2x Basic Ink, and 1x Beginner's Stone Carvings.
Beginner's Stone Carvings
Interact with Rough Hieroglyph tablets in the open world to obtain Beginner's Stone Carvings. Use the Compendium to track this resource node.

Rough Parchment
- Find the closest tree to the Forest Station and deploy your cart next to it (Shift + V). Start chopping the tree to get Rough Wood Trunks. Continue until you have 11 Rough Wood Trunks.
- Interact with the Forest Station and use your Rough Wood Trunks to craft Rough Tree Bark Output.
- Refine the Rough Tree Bark Output at the Scholar Station into Rough Parchment.
Before you begin gathering Rough Wood Trunks, you should first follow the Main Quest until you get your cart. This allows you to gather and move a large quantity of the required materials at the same time.
Basic Ink
- Go to the closest lake or river and fish for Moonlit Crawdads.
- Turn Moonlit Crawdads into Basic Baits at the Fishing Station.
- With Basic Bait in your inventory, you can now fish at "School of Breezy Fin Darters" fishing nodes.
- Extract Basic Fish Oil from Breezy Fin Darters at the Fishing Station.
- Use the Compendium to track Lavender or Daisy, and harvest those to obtain Basic Flowers.
- Grind the Basic Flowers into Basic Pigments at the Scholar Station.
- Combine Basic Pigments and Basic Fish Oil at the Scholar Station to obtain Basic Ink.
