Metaprogression Systems in Wizard of Legend 2

Last Updated:June 9, 2025|Changelog

The Variant Arcanas, upgrades, and relics you collect within each run do not carry over to the next trial. But Wizard of Legend 2 has several metaprogression systems where you spend hard-earned resources to gain new powers to take into your next attempt. You combine a Medallion, 4 Arcanas, and a Relic to create your loadout. Then, combine positive and negative runes to adjust the difficulty for your next run.

Vendor Refreshes

As you purchase Relics and Arcana from the vendors, their stock refreshes with new random options. Use this to explore new build possibilities or hunt for a powerful starting advantage.

Medallions

Metaprogression Systems
The Talking Mirror

Interact with the Talking Mirror to select your Medallion or spend Chaos Gems to unlock new ones. You begin with the Basic Wizard Medallion, which provides no bonuses, but other Medallions provide powerful build-defining effects. This is the simplest of the metaprogression systems, as you do not find any Medallions within your run.

Some of them are purely positive, like Vigor, which increases your maximum life. But some of the most powerful Medallions have both an upside and a downside. For example, Fall reduces your maximum health by 70%, but completely transforms your gameplay by giving you easy access to healing by avoiding damage.

Arcanas

Metaprogression Systems
Serjik and Tomi

Speak to Serjik, the Arcana Mentor, to unlock new Arcanas. This wizard is always up for a fight, and if you give him a few Chaos Gems, he is happy to provide wizards with more spells to use in their trials. Change your loadout, or add something new by speaking to Tomi, the Living Spellbook, who hangs out near Serjik. Combine the powers of Air, Lightning, Fire, Water, Earth, and Chaos to create your own build. During your run, you can find Enhancements and Variant Arcanas to improve your spells, but sadly, these do not carry over from run to run.

Types of Arcana

Arcanas are divided into 4 different types. First up, basic. These have no cooldown and function as your default attack. In general, Basic Arcana deal a bit less damage than other types as they can be spammed endlessly. Most of them have some sort of combo, where the 3rd hit in a sequence does more damage than the prior 2. Next, you have Dash Arcana, which triggers as you Dash around to traverse gaps and avoid enemy attacks. While Dash Arcanas have a cooldown, you can still Dash while they're on cooldown; you just don't get the additional effects.

Signature Arcana gain a charge as you play through the level, kill enemies, and use your other Arcanas. Use them when fully charged to unleash the Ultimate form of your signature and deal massive damage to enemies! Last but not least, you have Standard Arcanas; you select one of these as part of your loadout, but can find or earn up to 2 more during your run for 3 total.

When making a loadout, check your Arcana's tags. The primary distinction is between Projectile and Melee. With a Melee Arcana, you are more likely to dash to an enemy and strike them from close range. Many Melee Arcana have iframes that temporarily render you immune to damage. Whereas most Projectile Arcana don't have a movement component and instead rely on the safety provided by distance. Other tags synergize with your Relics; for example, Azhi Dahaka's Eye synergizes with Dragon-tagged Arcanas.

Relics

Metaprogression Systems
Madame Moulin and the Mimi

Spend your Chaos Gems with Madame Moulin, the Relic Historian, to purchase a variety of relics. Then head over to Mimi the Relic Bank to select the Relic you take into your next run. During your trial you can find more Relics and equip up to a maximum of 10.

These are some of the Relics you can find throughout your runs. The difference here is that you get to decide which Relic you take into the trial. Each relic offers a different bonus; some of them, like Azhi Dahaka's Eye, increase your damage, others, like Water Cushion, increase your defenses, and a few, like Lightning Conductor, provide unique build-defining effects. As you explore the Trials, there are many more relics to find, including Cursed Relics and Fusion Relics.

Runes and Difficulty

Metaprogression Systems
Nazradin

Speak to Nazradin, the Trials Warden, to use materials earned through killing bosses to purchase Runes. Then equip Rune effects and adjust the difficulty you face in the Trials. In comparison to the other metaprogression systems that are focused on giving you more options, this one gives more risk and more rewards.

Difficulty Levels
Apprentice3 positive+0% Chaos Gems
Adept2 positive, 1 negative+10% Chaos Gems
Elementalist2 positive, 2 negative+20% Chaos Gems
Wizard1 positive, 3 negative+30% Chaos Gems
Arch Wizard1 positive, 4 negative+40% Chaos Gems
Dead Mage5 negative+50% Chaos Gems

On lower difficulties, you get more positive Runes, whereas the higher difficulties give more Chaos Gems in exchange for running dangerous negative Runes.

Between your runs, be sure to check back with Altheia, the Taskboard Clerk. She has a wide variety of tasks for you to complete. You can turn these in for more metaprogression materials, including a lot of Chaos Gems that you can use to progress the other systems, unlocking new Medallions, Arcanas, and Relics.
