God of War Farming Guide
Last Updated:October 24, 2024|Changelog
God of War is one of the 4 Trials of the Gods you encounter once reaching Torchlight Infinites Endgame, The Netherrealm. It is a mechanic that provides character power as you slay more and more enemies. Once completing the encounter, or running out of time, you are awarded with loot. This, like all Torchlight Infinite's content systems can be altered through the Void Chart Constellations, Confusion Cards and Enhancement Compasses.
Mechanics
The statue spawns at the beginning of any stage in which it is active. Interacting with the totem begins the encounter and starts a timer. Defeat enemies to increase your progress and increase the level of the encounter up to a maximum of 10 (This is increased to 14 with a Major Node in the Void Chart Constellation). Each level grants additional bonuses to;
- Skill Radius
- Movement Speed
- Additional Projectiles
Of all the Trials of the Gods, God of War grants the least direct loot once the encounter ends, but the character benefits make it a great addition to almost any farming strategy.
Void Chart Constellation
The Void Chart is split into 4 different paths, each granting separate bonuses;
- 1. 15 Star Talents that grant a total of a 100% chance for God of War to appear in Netherrealm Stages. These are very good to guarantee the encounter but can be substituted for a Rusted War Compass to save 15 Star Talents.
- 2. This path grants additional gameplay progress for the trial as well as increasing the maximum number of floors from 10 to 14. Additionally, the final node adds the Brutal - War Confusion Card to the deck, further increasing the floors from 14 to 17 when present on the Netherrealm Stage.
- 3. The main drop modifiers for God of War are granted by the God of War Followers, the bottom nodes grant a chance for the followers to be spawned when reaching a new floor. These followers have additional drop modifiers and are more likely to drop Deep Space Beacons. Additionally, the nodes add 2 Confusion Cards to the deck; Cruel - War and Overbearing - War. Each granting more chance for God of War Followers to spawn when reaching a new floor.
- 4. This path grants additional duration for the Trial making it much easier to persist for the entire Netherrealm Stage. Additionally they add the Radical - War Confusion Card to the deck, further increasing the duration when present on the Netherrealm Stage.
Confusion Cards
There are 4 unique Confusion Cards related to the God of War mechanic;
- Cruel - War; +12% Chance to be attacked by God of War Followers upon reaching a new floor. God of War Followers have a 9%/2% chance to drop 1 additional Deep Space Beacon.
- Overbearing - War; +12%/+8% Chance to be attacked by God of War Followers.
- Radical - War; +38%/+25% God of War Trial Duration.
- Brutal - War; The max floors in Trial: God of War +3/+2.
Enhancement Compasses
The Enhancement Compasses are the final way to alter the mechanic in your Netherrealm Stages, there are 3 to choose from each one providing something unique. Multiple God of War Enhancement compasses of a different rarity can be used together.
- War Compass - Guarantees the encounter in your stages whilst giving a minor buff to monster HP. A good option if you want to use God of War but need to save 15 Star Talents.
- Galloping War Compass - Further scales the duration and max number of floors in the encounter. This pairs well with the Valiant War compasses, Confusion Cards and various Star Talent nodes as it provides more opportunities to spawn God of War Followers.
- Valiant War Compass - The rarest God of War compass, providing a massive 50% chance to be attacked by God of War Followers when reaching a new floor. Additionally, it significantly increases the HP of all monsters in the stage as well as giving Magic Monsters 800% additional HP, these are separate multipliers, so the Magic Monsters in these maps are extremely tanky. Combine this with the Cruel - War confusion card to drop a large amount of Deep Space Beacons.
