Uber Traveler Boss Guide

End of Confusion - Uber Traveler is the ultimate form of Traveler, a Pinnacle Boss and the main antagonist of Torchlight Infinite's Netherrealm endgame system. The Traveler boss fight is one of the most difficult and rewarding encounters in the game, this guide teaches you everything you need to know about it.

The Traveler has 3 difficulty levels, this guide focuses on the most difficult of them - Timemark 8+, well known to the community as Uber Traveler. Compared to the Timemark 7 version of the fight, the Timemark 8 version has significantly more health, deals more damage, and gains a new mechanic in the third Phase.

To fight the Timemark 8 version of the Traveler, you need 4 of The End. This item drops from Timemark 8 Watchers of the Netherrealm, or can be purchased from the Auction House. The higher difficulty versions require a seperate key obtained from the more difficult Watchers.

Rewards

The Traveler has several item drops including exclusive Legendaries, Compasses, Florescent Memory Cards, Level 21 Skills and the powerful Pedigree of Gods Divinity Slate. Check the Traveler's loot table in-game for more details on the exact items he can drop. You need to defeat the Realm Lord to obtain Star Talents and Prime Star Talents.

There are several versions of this boss, with increased difficulty for the Timemarks beyond 8. They follow the same mechanics, and have similar reward pools, but do not give Star Talents or Prime Star Talents. You should challenge the most difficult version you're able to complete in order to maximize your chance at getting rare rewards.

Skill Breakdown

The Traveler manifests a blade onto his arm, and swings in front of him. This deals mild damage in a small radius in front of the traveler. Avoid this attack by moving in practically any direction.

Throughout the fight, The Traveler Spawns pairs of Purple Portals around the Arena. Starting with 1 pair, another is added in each Phase. The portals pass slow moving Purple Block projectiles between each other. Purple Blocks deal significant damage on contact.

Avoid Purple Blocks by paying attention to your surroundings, ensuring you don't accidentally walk into one.

The Traveler hurls a Purple Ball into a portal. Shortly after, a Rift opens above your current location that will drop the Purple Ball after a short delay, telegraphed by a Blue Circle. After landing, the Purple Ball erupts into an Erosion field that expands and contracts, dealing cataclysmic damage on contact.

This ability gets significantly stronger with each passing Phase. An additional Purple Ball is hurled into a portal per phase, and those that have erupted expand and contract an additional time per phase. Avoiding this ability requires planning because it makes much of the Arena inhospitable for a long period of time.

To minimize area denial, stay in the Arena's outskirts when you see the Traveler hurling Purple Balls until all Rifts have formed, then leave that area.

The Traveler attacks you after teleporting to your location 3 times. Blade Manifest is used for the first two teleports. On the third teleport, he creates a formation of impaling Crystals in front him that deal cataclysmic damage, telegraphed by Red Lines.

Avoid death by counting the Traveler's teleports and stepping to the side or going behind the Traveler before he forms the Crystals.

At 75% and 40% HP remaining, the Traveler goes immune and leaves the arena to transition into the next Phase. To keep you occupied, the Traveler summons a horde of Mini-Travelers with poor HP and mediocre damage. Mini Travelers are stronger in the second Transition Phase. Defeat all Mini-Travelers to move on to the next Phase.

Starting in Phase 2 the Traveler gains the ability to passively strike random parts of the Arena with Red Lasers. These are telegraphed by a Red Circle appearing on the ground. Red Lasers deal insignificant hit damage, but apply a potent damage over time debuff that lasts for a long time. Red Lasers strike the arena more often as the Travelers HP lowers.

Avoid these by paying attention to the Arena floor around you and having mobility skills ready in case you get put between a rock and a hard place.

The Traveler attacks you after teleporting to your location 4 times. The first 3 teleports are identical to the 3 Teleport Crystal Formation ability. The fourth teleport is followed by the Traveler creating a forking formation of impaling Crystals in front of him that deal cataclysmic damage. Crystal attacks are telegraphed by a Red Line appearing on the ground.

Avoid death by counting the Traveler's teleports and stepping to the side or going behind the Traveler before he uses either Crystal formation ability.

The Traveler stops in place and channels energy into a Purple Portal, causing Red Lasers to rapidly lock onto your current position and strike it after a short delay. Red Laser strikes are telegraphed by a Red Circle appearing on the ground. Red Lasers deal insignificant hit damage, but apply a potent damage over time debuff that lasts for a long time. Though the Laser's impact damage is small, they are numerous and easily kill if too many hit you.

Avoid death by moving, never stopping, and paying attention to the ground to account for any random Red Lasers.

The Traveler attacks you after teleporting to your location 5 times. The first 4 teleports are identical to the 4 Teleport Crystal Formation ability. The fifth teleport is followed by the Traveler creating an X shaped formation of impaling Crystals around him that deal cataclysmic damage. Crystal attacks are telegraphed by a Red Line appearing on the ground.

Avoid death by counting the Traveler's teleports and stepping to the side or going behind the Traveler before he uses the first third and fourth Teleport's Crystal formation.

Avoid the fifth Teleport's Crystal formation by paying attention to the telegraphed Red Lines and being quick to move out of harms way.

After reappearing at the center of the Arena for the final time, the Traveler begins Phase 3 by channeling Death Spiral. The Traveler will use this ability once more after reaching 10% HP remaining. The Traveler cannot be killed while using this ability.

A spiraling array of Purple Blocks is continuously formed at the Arena's outskirts, traveling inward towards the Traveler. Cease attacking the Traveler and focus on your own survival, move to the Arena's outskirt and weave yourself around and through the Purple Blocks with perpetual clockwise movement. If you die during Death Spiral, do not respawn until it has ended.

Red Lasers continue to strike randomly, avoid any that block your path by quickly moving past the telegraphing Red Circle or wait for the laser to strike. The Traveler may also hurl erupting Purple Balls during Death Spiral. If he does this, ensure you rotate around the Arena slower so that you don't run into a Erosion Eruption on your next lap.

Traveler Boss Mechanics

End of Confusion - Traveler appears in the center of the Arena after a cutscene. The Timemark 8 Uber version of this encounter is significantly harder than the Timemark 7 Traveler, but has the same mechanics until Phase 3. Many of the Traveler's direct attacks can be avoided by staying behind him. The Traveler can use many lethal indirect abilities that can cause large parts of the Arena to become inhospitable. having maxed out Fire, Cold, Lightning and as much Erosion resistance as possible is recommended. The fight itself is split into 3 Phases with a Phase Transition separating them. The Traveler grows stronger after each passing Phase.

Phase 1

The Traveler begins the fight in the center of the Arena and rotates through his Purple Balls with Erosion Eruptions and 3 Teleport Crystal Formation abilities. The Traveler automatically uses Blade Manifest in close quarters, and Purple Block Projectiles automatically fire off. At 75% HP remaining, the Traveler initiates Phase Transition and will reappear in Phase 2, keeping all of his abilities and gaining more.

Transition Phase

At 75% and 40% HP remaining, the Traveler goes immune and leaves the arena to transition into the next Phase. To keep you occupied, the Traveler summons a horde of Mini-Travelers with poor HP and mediocre damage. Mini Travelers are stronger in the second Transition Phase. Defeat all Mini-Travelers to move on to the next Phase.

Phase 2

The Traveler reappears in the center of the Arena, and uses upgraded versions of his previously used abilities. The Traveler hurls 2 Purple Balls that Erupt 2 times for even more area denial, and 3 Teleport Crystal Formation is upgraded into 4 Teleport Crystal Formation. The Traveler automatically uses Blade Manifest in close quarters. Even more Purple Block Projectiles automatically fire off, and Red Lasers now strike random parts of the Arena. At this point, the fight is fairly chaotic and having good focus helps to stay alive. At 40% HP remaining, the Traveler goes initiates Phase Transition and will reappear in Phase 3, keeping all of his abilities and gaining more.

Phase 3 & Last Stand

The Traveler reappears in the center of the Arena for the final time, and uses the extremely lethal Death Spiral ability. Disengage the Traveler and focus on your own survival, weave through the array of incoming Purple Blocks while paying careful attention to your surroundings.

After using Death Spiral, the Traveler engages you with perfected versions of his previously used abilities. The Traveler now fires 3 Purple Balls at a time that Erupt 3 times for maximum area denial, and 4 Teleport Crystal Formation is upgraded into 5 Teleport Crystal Formation. The Traveler automatically uses Blade Manifest in close quarters. Purple Block Projectiles constantly fire off, and more Red Lasers strike random parts of the Arena at a time. The Traveler gains the extremely powerful Red Laser Rapid Fire ability, allowing him to channel a constant barrage of Red Lasers that strike your position after a delay. At this point, the fight is extremely chaotic and having good focus is required to stay alive.

The Traveler will enter a Last Stand after reaching 10% HP remaining, becoming invulnerable and casting Death Spiral once more. Focus on your own survival. The Traveler's abilities linger even after being defeated, so keep moving until the danger ceases.

Summary

• Use 4 of The End to fight the Timemark 8+ Uber Traveler. This item drops from T8 Watchers and can be purchased on the Auction House.
  • Difficulties beyond Timemark 8 use a different currency obtained from Profound and Deep Space Watchers.
• The Traveler always drops a Beacon used to access Timemark 8, and either Helio Rock or a random Level 21 Active Skill.
