Tico Talks January Update 2025
In their January Update for 2025, Amazon released a video of features that are coming to Global servers in the next few months. They also teased at an update coming later in the week talking about the new free content expansion: Talandre! On top of this, Amazon hinted at upcoming changes to the combat system, Open World Bosses, Siege and more! Let's go into the changes coming to Throne and Liberty.
Server Consolidations
In the January Update, Amazon first made clear they are going to consolidate existing servers. The main goal with this consolidation is to maintain a competitive landscape while widening the available pool of people that can play together on each server.
This server consolidation is a multi-step process, and will be happening over several stages:
- Auction Houses will be merged between Early Access and Launch servers.
- A period of free transfers will be offered to all players and the restriction on transferring between Early Access and Launch servers will be lifted.
- Early Access and Launch servers will be consolidated. For clarity, this consolidation will be merging two or more servers into one NEW server. One server will not be put into an already existing server.
AGS Game Improvements
Following the January Update, Amazon made it clear that their goal is to make Combat in Throne and Liberty as smooth as possible. The following changes are planned in preparation for the Talandre Global release
- While in combat, Players will maintain a consistent movement speed even while attacking.
- Amazon is removing the requirement to face a target when attacking. Instead, they are introducing a new Line-of-Sight system for targeting.
- The base Melee Attack Range is increasing.
- Introducing character-based movement in place of camera-based movement.
- Making improvements to Tab Targeting as well as Click Targeting.
- The goal for the combat update is to make controls consistent both in and out of Combat.
Changes to Open World PVP
In regards to Field Bosses, Amazon is making changes to ensure that players have a more fun and fair experience during Conflict Bosses
- Conflict Field Bosses are moving to a Guild vs Guild system similar to Interserver War.
- Other changes may come as Amazon continues to adapt the game to what the players enjoy.
- Amazon says that they will monitor the upcoming changes closely in order to make any necessary adjustments to the matchmaking systems. Expect a followup on this in February.
New Systems and Plans for the Future
In the January Update, Amazon spoke about systems coming to Throne and Liberty Global both old and new! They first touched on something players have been excitedly asking about: The new Weapon Mastery system. On top of that, AGS wants to let players know that the big reveal for their new content expansion, Talandre, is slated for January 28th. This reveal will take place on their "Eye on Solisium" update, so be sure to tune in.
The new Weapon Mastery completely overhauls the way mastery works in Throne and Liberty. All existing Weapon Mastery progress transfers to the new system so don't worry about losing your progress. New key features of this system include all masteries applying to both weapons, new Keystone Masteries that apply across different weapons, and exciting changes to existing abilities.
- Your current Weapon mastery is listed here. This functions much the same way the old mastery system did, just with a higher cap. This number contributes to your All mastery level.
- Your total stats gained from mastery. This is only applied from your equipped weapons, and works regardless of which weapon you have mainhand.
- Your All Mastery Skills are listed here. Your All Mastery is the total amount of your Weapon Mastery levels added together. Even unequipped weapons contribute to this number. At the shown breakpoints, you can pick new special bonuses that apply to your character across all weapons.
Stay on the lookout for a post from us here at Maxroll in the future giving the full rundown of the new Weapon Mastery system. AGS also confirmed that the new Tier 2 gear players are anxiously waiting for is confirmed to be releasing alongside Talandre, so you'll have to wait just a bit longer.
