Legion Raid Endgame 5x3 or 5x3 + 1 Engraving
With Legion Raids come Relic Accessories. Relic Accessories can have Engraving pairings of +5/+3. The most common Engraving spread with Legion Raids is the 5x3 setup. Uncommonly, you might encounter the 4x3, 1x2, and 1x1 setup. If you're a class that only really needs a Level 1 Class Engraving, you can choose to find an Engraving is decent at Level 2, like Adrenaline. This is sometimes more hassle than it's worth, so people just go for the Level 3 Class Engraving. For Wardancers with Dominion Fang Set and ~1600 Swiftness, it's possible to go Awakening Level 2.
The 5x3 + 1x1 is the whale Engraving setup. To achieve this setup, you need at least a +9/+7 or +10/+6 Ability Stone. You have less than a 0.1% chance of achieving this result from a Relic Ability Stone. If you are a whale going for this, hopefully you choose the cheapest Relic Ability Stone pairing. Before you scream P2W, this setup offers a marginal damage increase even if you are playing a class that uses a Class Engraving that has high efficiency at Level 1. The 5x3 setup is perfectly fine for the content we will have for the future up to Brelshaza Hard Mode.

Within reason, the best possible Engraving setup you can reach with Legendary Accessories, is 4x3 + 1x1. 4x3 means that you have 4 Level 3 Engravings. 1x1 means 1 Level 1 Engraving.
For the additional 1x1 Engraving, you need to purchase 2x20 Legendary Engraving Books or 1x20 Legendary Engraving Books and cut a +9/+6 Ability Stone.

Philosophy Behind Building Engravings
Equipment Slot Engraving Philosophy
Most people figure out the most expensive Battle Engravings on accessories and slot in +9 for that Engraving on their equipment. This way, you don't have to purchase some insanely expensive accessory to complete your build. Now, whether you choose to also slot in a +9 or +12 Class Engraving on your equipment will be discussed below.
Class Engraving on Equipment Slot or Accessories
Class Engravings are not guaranteed on Legion Raid Accessories in any form. Therefore, the price of Relic Accessories with +5 Class Engraving become much more expensive than their Legendary Accessories counterparts. Imagine needing 3 of these to hit Level 3 for your Class Engraving. Because of this, players opt for slotting a Class Engraving on their Equipment Engraving Slot. Players also opt to purchase 20 Class Engraving Recipes for their Class Engraving. You will need one Engraving on your Equipment Slot to be +12 regardless to hit 5x3.
If you're going for a 4x3 setup, you might consider going for Class Engravings on Legendary Accessories instead of equipment slot. Accessories from Hard Mode Oreha Abyss Dungeons and Argos Abyss Raid are guaranteed to have Class Engravings. Because of how easy it is to get these types of Accessories, you might find that a Class Engraving + Battle Engraving accessory would be a cheaper pairing than double Battle Engraving accessory. So people like going +3 Class Engraving from each of their 5 accessories to hit their Level 3 Class Engraving.
Battle Engravings on Ability Stones Philosophy
People like going for an Ability Stone that has a Battle Engraving pairing that is expensive to find on accessories. If the bare minimum you need is +6/+5, you shouldn't fail all too much and will make your accessory search cheaper.
If the situation calls for a +7/+7 cut, I like choosing the cheapest Ability Stone combination that fits my Engraving setup. The reason being so that when I inevitably fail to cut an ideal Ability Stone on the first one I purchase, I can re-attempt without much cost. Of course, they still cost Pheon. It's up to you to figure out which option you prefer.
Cutting an Ability Stone First or Last
There are two ways people approach an ability stone; some people cut their Ability Stone first and then find the correct accessories to match, or leave their Ability Stone for last.
Cutting Stone First: Let's take a look at a potential scenario. You have 2 +12's on your equipment slot. This is the method used by the most if not everyone. This means you only need a +6/+5 Ability Stone at the minimum. Let's say you cut a stone and you get +6/+6. This means that on one accessory, you have the possibility of only needing a +4/+3 instead of a +5/+3 accessory, saving you gold. Any higher than that, and you can save even more gold. A +7/+7 stone allows you to forgo the secondary engraving on an accessory piece, potentially making your necklace cheaper to buy.
For 5x3, if you only have 1 Engraving whose Battle Engraving Recipes you purchased for, your life becomes more difficult. You must hit +7/+7 on your Relic Ability Stone. The odds of that happening on a Relic Ability Stone are close to around 5%. Depending on how much Pheons cost and how much Relic Ability Stones cost, it might just be cheaper to purchase 20 Class Engraving Recipe for a 2nd Engraving. This way, you only need a +6/+5 Ability Stone for a 5x3 build.
Summary
You can flip points 3 and 4.
- Choose expensive Class Engraving or Battle Engravingto put on Equipment Slot.
- Select cheapest Ability Stone Engraving pairing (more expensive Accessories) or Select Expensive Ability Stone Engraving pairing (cheaper Accessories). Choose to either cut stone first or save until last.
- Buy Accessories to fill out remaining Engraving nodes and make sure not to accumulate more than 3 Malus Engravings.
- Buy the Ability Stone with the 4th Malus Engraving and cut it.
