Last Updated:November 19, 2024|Changelog
Bitter/Sweet is an Arc Grenade Launcher introduced in Episode: Revenant, Act 1, and can be obtained through Seasonal Activities or Revenant Engrams. Grenade Launchers, especially Adaptive Frames like Bitter/Sweet, excel in the current Destiny 2 meta. The Bitter/Sweet God Roll drops with a reload perk and a powerful damage perk, making it a great addition to your loadout. Farming for the Bitter/Sweet God Roll should be at the top of your list.
- High total damage.
- Easy to use and great for any activity.
- Multiple damage Perks in the fourth column.
WARNING: Bitter/Sweet requires Episode: Revenant to unlock.

Recommended Rolls
Barrel | Magazine | Perk 1 | Perk 2 | Masterwork |
---|---|---|---|---|
Quick Launch | Spike Grenades | Envious Arsenal | Bait and Switch | Masterworked: Velocity |
The Bitter/Sweet God Roll always comes with Spike Grenades, a staple on any Grenade Launcher, increasing your damage with direct hits. The newly introduced perk, Envious Arsenal, refills Bitter/Sweet from reserves when dealing damage with both of your other weapons before swapping back to your heavy weapon. The enhanced perk also increases your ammo reserves which is always a bonus! This third column perk pairs perfectly with Bait and Switch in the fourth column, increasing the damage of Bitter/Sweet when you deal damage with all equipped weapons.
Because these perks promote swapping weapons frequently, I recommend Quick Launch for the added Handling, especially if you're on controller. If you don't need the Handling, choose Hard Launch for the most Velocity. This Barrel also reduces your Blast Radius slightly, giving you more impact damage (which is boosted by Spike Grenades).
Barrel | Magazine | Perk 1 | Perk 2 | Masterwork |
---|---|---|---|---|
Quick Launch | Spike Grenades | Envious Arsenal | Explosive Light | Masterworked: Velocity |
If RNG isn't going your way, no problem! The Bitter/Sweet Grenade Launcher rolls with many great damage perks. Instead of Bait and Switch, be on the lookout for these fourth column perks (in order of preference): Explosive Light, Frenzy, Killing Tally, or Harmony. All of these perks provide additional damage so choose the one that fits your playstyle.
Comparable Weapons
Edge Transit, a Void Grenade Launcher, from the Onslaught Playlist, is similar to the Bitter/Sweet God Roll and can also roll Bait and Switch. Edge Transit is better for burst damage with the perk Envious Assassin that can overfill the magazine by scoring kills with other weapons. However, you can overflow the magazine of Bitter/Sweet as well if you're using another Dark Ether Reaper weapon. The Origin Trait activates for all weapons. VS Chill Inhibitor Stasis Grenade Launcher, acquired from the Vesper's Host Dungeon, is similar to the Bitter/Sweet God Roll, but harder to acquire. This grenade launcher rolls with the same perks, Envious Arsenal and Bait and Switch but has deeper reserves and a Rapid-Fire Frame making it perfect for your endgame boss rotation. WARNING: VS Chill Inhibitor requires The Final Shape Dungeon Key to unlock.
Summary
Prioritize farming for the Bitter/Sweet God Roll in Destiny 2 because in a Grenade Launcher meta, it's top tier for boss damage in any rotation with the ideal perks, Envious Arsenal and Bait and Switch.
