The Final Shape

Welcome to the Precious Scars Strand Titan build guide. Precious Scars  received a major buff in Season 23, Season of the Wish, giving the player a restoration effect when using a weapon matching their subclass type. This provides  you with consistent healing. The buff turned a D-Tier exotic into an A to S-tier choice overnight. Using Strand’s already strong abilities like Woven Mail and Banner of War means you’re an absolute tank in any endgame setting.

Precious Scars is the backbone of this setup and is second to none. Getting final blows with a weapon matching your subclass gives Restoration, meaning kills = non-stop healing. Now remember this works with any subclass, providing you with many fun ways to use this exotic. In addition to the healing you get from final blows you also get an overshield when being revived or reviving teammates. This is without a doubt the best support exotic for Titan to date.

Pros
  • S-Tier healing
  • High team healing
  • High ability uptime
  • Multiple weapon options
Cons
  • No benefit to boss damage
  • Slows down when enemies aren't present

Gameplay Loop

The loop for this Precious Scars Strand Titan build is very easy to execute since most of it is taking out targets with your primary weapon. Doing so results in consistent Restoration and use of your fragment abilities. You’re able to Sever, Suspend, and Unravel any target with the subclass setup and still punch enemies for high damage like a true Titan. Even though this primarily is a weapon build you have high melee regeneration from Into the Fray so use those Frenzied Blades frequently!

Ability Breakdown

Super

  • Bladefury
    • This is the only option that is available, but even if it wasn't it would be my main choice. Bladefury is the strongest roaming super for Titan because of it's fast DPS and ability to scale with melee damage. Even on a setup like this it stands tall among the rest.

Abilities

  • Rally Barricade, I recommend this over towering mainly for it's shorter cooldown.
  • Strafe Lift, Jump is your choice!
  • Frenzied Blade, One of the strongest powered melees in the game. Having three charges of this as well is incredible for consistent damage.
  • Shackle Grenade, This is the perfect option to ensure that Unstoppable champs and large groups of enemies don't overpower you.

Aspects

  • Into the Fray, Perfect aspect to ensure you have consistent Woven Mail from destroying Tangle. Also more melee energy regeneration is never a bad thing.
  • Banner of War, First this is likely the best aspect in the game period because of the high damage and healing it provides your character.

Banner requires consistent melee/finisher/sword kills to stay active, weapon kills don't extend the duration!

Fragments

  • Thread of Generation, This is a lock for every Strand build because it's free grenade energy for just playing the game.
  • Thread of Isolation,Since this is a weapon damage focused build this is great for consistent Sever of targets.
  • Thread of Propagation, Getting free unraveling rounds for just meleeing a target is huge for this setup.
  • Thread of Rebirth, Since we use a Strand weapon this is perfect to create Threadling to help do more damage.

Gearing

Required Gear and Weapons

Precious Scars

How to acquire:

  • Purchase from Xur (his loot rotates weekly).
  • Decrypting exotic engrams at Rahool (it will be a random exotic drop, but will prioritize exotics you currently do not have, known as the knockout system).
  • Farm the expert lost sector on helmet Armor days.
  • This assumes you've purchased the Beyond Light Campaign.

Stat Priorities

  • Resilience, then Discipline, and then Recovery.
  • Resilience is the amount of damage you can take before dying, as well as your shield capacity.
  • Discipline is what reduces your grenade cooldown.
  • Recovery is how long it takes for your health to regenerate after you take damage.

Recommend Weapons

  • Kinetic Weapon: Quicksilver Storm - This Strand primary shoots small rockets with consistent damage. Once enough rockets detonate, your secondary firing mode provides up to 3 grenade launcher charges.
  • Energy Weapon: Aberrant Action - Rocket Sidearms are incredibly strong
  • Power Weapon:Cataphract GL3 (Adept) - An incredibly strong option to add if you're looking for high DPS with your strand damage.

Summary

Strand Titan has many different ways to play and this is a top 3 choice among the crowd of options! Having high healing, weapon damage, and ability uptime means you go into any encounter ready to win. Want to stand behind your barrier and shoot targets? No problem with this build! Want to run and gun while melee enemies into tangles? This build has your back! Want to be a healing fiend for your team in high-end content? This is the perfect build for just that!
