2.2 PTR Campfire Chat Wrap-Up

It's now time to think about the 2.2 PTR update for Season 8! Blizzard just finished the Season 8 2.2 PTR Campfire Chat! Read everything you need to know here!

PTR Need to Knows

  • 2.2 PTR goes live on the March 11th until the March 18th.
  • Boost will be available a couple days after PTR start.
  • Share your feedback on Diablo 4 PTR forums!
  • A roadmap for Diablo 4 future plans is in the works and will be shared.

General Thoughts

  • Blizzard is no longer planning on doing Mid-Season balance updates. The idea is to focus more on next season start to have a great quality at the start.
  • The team will react to egregious things that pop up early in the Season. This means the focus is going to be on quick updates at the start of a new season.
  • Blizzard didn't expected the progression to be that fast in Season 7:
    • The Season 6 time to level 60 was 15-17 hours on average.
    • The Season 7 time to level 60 was 9 hours on average.
    • The plan is not to nerf seasonal powers but instead to slow down the 1-25 leveling to get closer to Season 6 times.

Lair Bosses Update Overview

  • Belial the Lord of Lies is coming back as a new Lair Boss as the new top tier Boss. Some other bosses are coming as well such as the Harbinger of Hatred.
  • Defeating a Boss has a small chance to trigger a Belial ambush for more loot and challenge.

  • Season 8 will bring updates to summoning materials:

  • A lot of quality of life improvements for Lair Bosses are coming:
    • Icons have been improved.
    • Name of the Boss is now on the tooltip.
    • Possible rewards are now shown.
    • You can now teleport directly to the Lair!
  • Belial Hoard can mimic the loot of any other Lair Boss of your choosing. It also guarantees a Mythic Ancestral Item.

Season 8 New Seasonal Mechanic

Apparition Incursions are Belial Apparition events where players have to fight waves of monsters leading up to some bosses and finally Belial itself.

  • In Season 8, players will be able to collect and mimic powers from Lair Bosses!
  • There is 24 powers to collect (on the first kill of every Boss).
  • You have 4 power slots: You can choose the Main power and 3 modifiers powers (more focused on utility to boost your main power). This enable tons of combinations and customization!

Each class will get a new powerful Unique Item and Legendary Aspect to magnify your renowned demon crushing prowess!
