Verso Skills Guide
Last Updated:April 24, 2025|Changelog
The enigmatic Verso joins the party at the start of Act 2. While it may be hard to trust this dangerous stranger, his intentions seem good. This guide details each of Verso's kills, with notes on how to use them, then continues on to suggested synergies and team compositions.
As Verso Attacks, Dodges/Parries, and uses Skills he gains, Perfection. After accumulating enough Perfection, his Rank increases. A higher Rank means more damage, and many of Verso's skills gain bonuses when he's at a specific Rank. Play carefully, as Verso loses Rank upon taking damage.

Skill Breakdown

Light Skills
Skill | Notes |
---|---|
Purification | It is one of the few offensive dispels in the game. Consider swapping into it for bosses with lots of statuses. |
Follow Up | At S-Rank, this is a very efficient way to take advantage of Free Aim to inflict Burn/Mark and dump AP. This often hits for 9,999. |
Speed Burst | When paired with a weapon with high Agi scaling and some Speed Pictos, this does excellent damage. |
Perfect Break | A solid AoE break point, but it comes with a hefty AP cost. This works well to break weaker foes and immediately push Verso to S-Rank. |
Radiant Slash | A cost-efficient way to Break, but it doesn't hit very hard. |
Light Holder | A great way to build Rank while doing solid damage. This is the perfect choice to push from A to S as it functionally costs 2 AP. |
Phantom Stars | One of Verso's strongest S-Rank skills, it's AP efficient, can break and deals high AoE damage. |
Physical Skills
Skill | Notes |
---|---|
Paradigm Shift | Generating AP is nice, but the damage is too low. |
Blitz | Free Aim shots are usually a better way to dump AP, so this is only relevant if you're trying to play again. |
End Bringer | Use this when enemies are stunned for massive damage. It can delay enemy turns, but you're often at S-Rank by the time an enemy is stunned. |
Quick Strike | This is worse than alternatives like Assault Zero. |
Berserk Slash | The damage from this is only worth it after you obtain Painted Power. Before that, you can reach 9,999 easily enough with less risky moves. |
Defiant Strike | Higher damage than Marking Shot, but costs 30% health, counteract this with a Lumina like Healing Fire or use it to set up for Berserk Slash. |
Steeled Strike | While this does solid damage, it's not worth the risk unless you are good at Dodging/Parrying. |
Weapon Skills
Skill | Notes |
---|---|
From Fire | A good way to add a bit of health sustain while doing damage. Less effective on Hard, where enemies are more likely to 1-shot you. |
Ascending Assault | It starts pretty weak but quickly builds up damage, making this an excellent skill to use against bosses! |
Assault Zero | A solid rank builder that uses your weapon's element. It does less damage than Light Holder or Strike Storm but also costs less AP. |
Marking Shot | Great for setting up a big skill from another expedition member. |
Strike Storm | With high Crit this is a great way to get to S-Rank and do high damage. But the QTE timing is 2 rapid button presses, and if you fail, then the attack doesn't go off. |
Utility Skills
Skill | Notes |
---|---|
Perfect Recovery | This is a great heal as it also dispels negative effects. It's very useful on lower difficulties or when following the main story. |
Overload | The reward here isn't worth the risk. |
Powerful | Hit both Perfects to apply the buff to your entire party. When cast at A-Rank the buff lasts 5 turns, making it very valuable. |
Leadership | A support ability, this is pretty niche because you often want to maintain Rank when building Verso for support. |
Burden | Combine this with Purification or Perfect Recovery to clear the party of negative statuses. |
Gradient Attacks
Skill | Notes |
---|---|
Sabotage | There are easier ways to mark without spending a Gradient Charge. |
Striker | While it's nice to have another way to break, this isn't very strong. (Unlocked at Esquie Relationship 4) |
Angel's Eyes | Hits hard and gives Verso a second chance should he fall in battle. This is an excellent gradient 3 skill. (Unlocked at Esquie Relationship 7) |
Build Synergies
Verso has a lot of multi-hit skills that deal significant damage and rapidly build his rank. This makes him a great choice while progressing through the game's main story. Most of his skills either deal Physical or Light damage, so your best bet is to use a weapon of a different element like Gaulteram in case enemies are resistant to those elements. He can also provide Powerful to allies and mark foes. Unfortunately, his Gradient Attacks are weaker than those of the other characters. Verso gains more Perfection when dealing critical hits, making this particularly valuable, and he benefits from Burning enemies but has no way to apply the status directly with his skills. Here are a couple of particularly interesting ways to build Verso:
- Dualiso is a unique weapon, obtained from the Dualliste boss. It has one of the lowest damage coefficients in the game, but effectively means you get to take 2 turns instead of 1. Use Pictos/Luminas like Enfeebling Attack, Combo Attack I, Energising Attack I, and Greater Defenceless to enhance his basic attack to generate more AP, deal higher damage, and inflict negative statuses. Use your second turn to deal massive damage with a hard-hitting, high AP cost skill like Phantom Stars. If other party members go before the enemy, they also benefit from the defenseless debuff.
- Alternatively, if you want to play Verso as a pure support, use Sireso obtained from the Axon Sirene. With this weapon, Verso no longer gains damage from Rank. Instead, he provides a damage bonus to all allies. Use multi-hit attacks to build up to S-Rank, then focus on spamming utility effects like Powerful and spend your turns Marking foes. This strategy is ineffective against weaker enemies as you can wipe them out in a single turn by building Verso for damage but it excels against bosses and dangerous foes, where the battles last several rounds.
Summary
- Verso has a lot of multi-hit skills.
- Build perfection to achieve S-Rank by avoiding damage for a massive damage boost.
- He has a variety of ways to deal damage to foes, including powerful AoE moves. In addition, he can provide support and utility effects to other members of the expedition.
- Three great weapons are Gaulteram, Dualiso, and Sireso.
