This Poison Gas Arrow Pathfinder Leveling Guide for the Ranger Class teaches you how to build your character with step-by-step explanations.

Are you looking for smooth gameplay with huge poisons covering the screen? Then this build is definitely for you! Drop your Gas Arrow to melt screens of enemies and bosses alike!

The Pathfinder ascendancy grants massive damage boosts through additional poisons through Overwhelming Toxicity and proliferations through Contagious Contamination.

The build used here is the same tree required in the endgame to play Gas Arrow Poison Pathfinder.

Example Gear at the end of the Campaign.

Note: You do not need resistances on any specific item, just get the required total resistances amongst all gear combined.

Skills

Poison Gas Arrow PathfinderLeveling

You start out with a simple Lightning Rod into Lightning Arrow combo for your early Leveling.

Add in Flame Wall to allow your arrows to gain Fire damage as they pass through the flames.

After swapping to Gas Arrow at level 22, use multiple arrows to put multiple poison stacks on enemies at once. Additional arrows come from the Scattershot gem, Bow implicits and Bow suffixes.

Most of the enemies die to a single Gas Arrow. Use Toxic Growth when an enemy already has a gas cloud over them to immediately detonate the toxic pods!

Gas Arrow has high mana cost that can be hard to sustain. Make sure to use the best Mana Flask possible at your level. You can take Mana on kill on the passive tree or on gear.

Cut These Gems Immediatly When Possible

It is of utmost importance that you cut Despair and Dark Effigy with your first two available Uncut Skill Gem IX to prevent it from requiring a large amount of Intelligence.

Your first +30 spirit should go to Plague Bearer, as this provides a huge poison explosion that helps with single target. Plague Bearer can also be used when you are surrounded and need some quick area damage. Once you reach Act 3, kill Ignagduk, The Bog Witch for +30 Spirit, cut the Uncut Spirit Gem into Wind Dancer for extra Evasion and a small push to enemies after being attacked allowing you to escape more easily.

Once you hit level 22 and earn your first Uncut Skill Gem VII and select Gas Arrow, you stop using Lightning Rod into Lightning Arrow entirely.

From this point forward your damage combo is to use Gas Arrow with Toxic Growth. Drop a gas cloud on the enemy and then leave pods within the gas cloud that immediately detonate. Plague Bearer can provide a nice large poison as well. For clearing act zones, a single gas cloud from Gas Arrow can often be enough to clear a whole pack, so attack and move.

Skill Rotation

  1. Fire a few Gas Arrow attacks
  2. Cast Toxic Growth into the cloud to explode the pods
  3. Use Despair and Dark Effigy to keep up debuffs
  4. Repeat using Gas Arrow to maintain the clouds
  5. Repeat from Step 2 as many times as needed

Gearing

Early Access
Poison Gas Arrow Pathfinder Leveling
  • By far the best way to get better gear in the campaign is to check the Vendor in Town each time you level up! As vendors change their offerings based on your level this is your best way to find upgrades. If you are desperately in need of a Weapon upgrade, check the previous Act's vendors as well.
  • Prioritize +#% to Fire, Cold and Lightning Resistance as well as attributes and +# to Maximum Life on your gear. This build requires high attributes as you reach the end of Act 3, so finding gear with it early pays dividends in the future. Having Life Regeneration on just a couple of pieces as well allows you to be more conservative with your Life Flask usage.
  • Bows with % increased Physical Damage or Elemental Damage can last you a very long time if they are very well rolled. Prioritize Dualstring Bow Bases for the additional Projectile with Bow Skills, even if the Tooltip DPS is lower. You increase your DPS by looking for the following stats, sorted by order of importance:
    • % increased Physical Damage
    • Adds # to # Physical Damage
    • + Levels of Projectile Skills
    • Bow Attacks fire # Additional Arrows
    • % Attack Speed
  • A great source of gear is checking vendors occasionally for promising bases to craft on with Orbs of Transmutation, Orbs of Augmentation and Regal Orbs.
  • To finish off your item use one or two Artificer's Orb and socket defensive Runes like Body Rune or Glacial Rune
  • Be sure to pick up all items with Rune Sockets regardless of color and salvage them for Artificer's Shards.
  • If you are still struggling check out our Survival Guide for additional useful information!
