Gas Arrow Amazon Build Guide
An Explosive Gas Arrow Amazon for the Huntress class ignites her enemies, freezes them in place, and then unleashes explosions that decimate entire packs of enemies. This one-two-punch playstyle excels at pre-stacking damage to deal with bosses while later transforming into a one-button build thanks to the Radiant Grief Unique Helmet.
Drop a Flame Wall beneath foes to ignite them, so that they detonate your Gas Clouds. Your Herald of Thunder and Voltaic Mark explosions make it even easier to destroy large groups of enemies. Then, on a tanky rare unleash Freezing Salvo to Freeze them in place while dealing massive damage!
Early on you use Armor and Evasion, leveraging the safety granted by Evasion to easily make your way through the campaign. Later on you can go full Evasion for a fast but squishy playstyle or invest into an Evasion/Energy Shield hybrid defense to become even tankier.
This build doesn't require any Unique items to get started but you do want Radiant Grief to automatically ignite foes when reaching the endgame. Other useful Uniques include Death's Harp for damage and Beacon of Azis to ignore enemy elemental resistances but these are not mandatory.
You do not need specific resistances on any item, just get the required total resistances amongst all gear combined. You need to cap your Resistances at 75% unless otherwise specified in the guide!
Path of Exile 2 is currently in early access, this means rapid development including frequent changes to builds as there are balance fixes and we learn more. Pin this page to be notified of any updates.
Skills
- From level 1 to level 21 you use Lightning Arrow as your clear skill. Cut Stormcaller Arrow early and use it to bolster your single target damage in Act 1 & early Act 2.
- Use a low level Uncut Skill Gem to engrave Flame Wall when you swap to Gas Arrow as you want the Intelligence requirement to be as low as possible.
- Use your first Level 5 Uncut Skill Gem to obtain Freezing Salvo. This skill accumulates arrows over time and then unleashes them in a barrage of devastation. Pair this with Hourglass Support for a nuke-on-demand button.
- Herald of Thunder adds additional burst damage as you kill Shocked enemies.
- When you reach level 22 and obtain a Uncut Skill Gem VII you can switch to Gas Arrow. Drop this on your enemies then use Flame Wall to ignite them, detonating the Gas Cloud for massive damage.
- Follow the skill progression to the right and use this setup to complete the campaign.
- Supplement your clear with Voltaic Mark. Mark your victim, then kill them to unleash a lightning explosion. When fighting Rares or Unique Bosses, try to mark a regular enemy or one of their minions.
- Barrage consumes Frenzy Charges for more burst damage.
- Wind Dancer rounds out your defenses in early levels by applying Blind and Maim to enemies.
- After obtaining Radiant Grief you no longer need to use Flame Wall. Keep enemies in your presence to maximize your damage.
- At this point, you no longer need Voltaic Mark.
- Once your Resistances are capped and you can map smoothly without dying, get +20 Spirit from your Amulet or Chest, to add the Rhoa Mount for more mobility.
- Staying mounted is a huge advantage, but you need to occasionally dismount between packs to clear your stagger bar.
Use the <Prev and Next> arrows to navigate.

- Predatory Instinct reveals weaknesses in Rare and Boss health bars. This results in an average of 22.5% more DPS against bosses with portions of high burst damage where you can easily Stun or Freeze the boss.
- Critical Strike makes it easy to scale Critical Hit Chance using accuracy. Use Critical Strikes to deal more damage and scale your damage without needing to invest in good gear.
- If you have a Rare bow with high Accuracy, Penetrate provides additional damage scaling. Otherwise, take Azmeri Brew for additional Life and Mana sustain when using your Flasks.
Passives

- For the attribute nodes take enough Intelligence and Dexterity to meet gear, skill gem and support gem requirements, then use the rest on Strength for more life.
- You can use your Gold at the Hooded one or Doryani to respec and change your Attributes if a new skill or gear upgrade leaves you unable to use your skills/items.
- Campaign Tree - During the campaign, you play Explosive Gas Arrow, early on you focus on bonuses to Elemental damage and Ailments. After gaining Critical Strike in Act 3 you begin pivoting to Accuracy and Critical bonuses.
- Mapping Tree - Once you enter maps, you invest into more Critical Strike, pathing over to the Monk area of the tree to grab Deadly Force.
Stat Priorities
Offensive Scaling
- Projectile Skill Levels.
- Additional projectiles result in more Gas Cloud explosions.
- Adds Physical, Fire, Cold, and Lightning Damage on Bow, Quiver, and Rings.
- Accuracy provides Critical Hit chance, and Accuracy on your weapon adds Physical Damage once you obtain Penetrate.
- Scaling the Quiver with Quiver Effect through nodes like Master Fletching.
- #% Critical Hit chance, #% Critical Damage.
- % damage, like Projectile Damage, Elemental Damage, and Attack Damage.
- #% increased Attack speed.

Defensive Scaling
- Sufficient +#% to Fire, Cold, and Lightning Resistance to cap your Resistances.
- Movement Speed on boots is crucial to avoiding dangerous boss attacks until you obtain your Rhoa Mount.

- Evasion Rating and Armour Rating provide great defenses in the campaign but once you reach maps, focus exclusively on Evasion Rating.
If you're struggling to survive, or want to learn more about damage and defenses in Path of Exile 2 check out these additional resources:
Gearing
- Your most important upgrade during the campaign is a good bow. This is the difference between breezing through bosses and slogging past as you run out of mana and die repeatedly. Always check the vendors after you level up to see if there's an upgrade!
- Defensively, you want movement speed boots, 10% is good and 20% is better. After that focus on life and resistances while keeping an eye out for damage rolls on your quiver and rings.
- If you find any of the Uniques listed in the mapping swap equip them immediately for a big boost to your damage.
- As you enter the Atlas of Worlds and begin mapping, your first goal is to cap your resistances and meet Attribute requirements.
- Focus on getting Radiant Grief as soon as possible.
- Upgrade your weapon, look for a Rare bow with high Physical Damage and the Bow Attacks fire an additional Arrow implicit.
- Death's Harp for damage and Beacon of Azis are great uniques but they're not mandatory to the build if either is expensive.
- Try to get Lightning damage on Rings/Quiver to shock enemies, triggering your Herald of Thunder.
- Upgrade your weapon, look for a Rare bow with Accuracy, high Physical Damage, and the Bow Attacks fire an additional Arrow implicit. Alternatively use Death's Harp.
- With Beacon of Azis you ignore enemy Resistances so your damage is equally consistent against bosses and regular enemies.
- Ensure you have Lightning damage on Rings/Quiver/Gloves to shock enemies, triggering your Herald of Thunder.
- Maintaining a high life total and capped resistances is crucial in higher maps so you are not stunned off of your mount. Avoid face-tanking packs of enemies as your Evasion is highly effective against stray hits but cannot save you from dozens of incoming attacks at once.
FAQ
You can, however, that requires you to fully respec your tree when swapping to Gas Arrow in Act 2. This requires a lot of Gold, and additional Uncut Support Gems.
Update your bow! For example, the level 22 Composite Bow has almost double the average damage of the level 11 Warden Bow. Keep an eye out for the following bows, the additional projectile is a huge damage increase:
- Level 28 - Dualstring Bow
- Level 55 - Twin Bow
- Level 78 - Gemini Bow
You only need +20 Spirit after the Campaign to use all your buffs. Obtain this by equipping Beacon of Azis, or a Rare Amulet/Chestpiece with Spirit on it.
The build can be pretty heavy on the attributes if you level everything. Don't be afraid to path to Proficiency for additional Dexterity.
NOTE: These bonuses are minor, if you picked something different for the Venom Draught, don't worry too much!
