Highlights from day 5 of the Misery Gauntlet include some big RIPs from the top of the ladder, bounty updates and community moments. If you've been following along with the Misery Gauntlet hosted by Zizaran and sponsored by Maxroll (among others) then you'll recognize some of the highlights. Day 5 has been a bit less eventful so today's wrap-up is shorter as well.
Ladder & Bounties
Here's a look at the Misery Gauntlet day 5 Ladder and bounty standing (broken down by class & overall). Bosses are starting to fall and we're seeing some big RIPs so expect a violent shakeup of the ladder standings over the next day (or even the next few hours). As people are switching from leveling to killing bosses we're seeing points come into play more than levels. Several bosses including Atziri, Elder and Catarina have fallen during the competition.
Notable Bounties
Here are a few of the confirmed bounties players claimed during day 5 of the Misery Gauntlet. So far 3 of Maxroll's own bounties have been claimed! Yesterday, Ben claimed an impressive bounty for completing a tier 17 map obtained from the Valdo's Puzzle Box in ssfhcbtw!
- First to complete any Valdo's Puzzle Box Map.
- $500 Claimed by Ben.
Bosses dropping left and right
Now that we've hit day 5, people are jumping into the bosses which brings a lot of risk and a lot of rewards. Here are some boss kills we wanted to highlight.
- Ovvy got some reflect resistance and challenged Atziri. It was a grueling encounter but she melted under the withering fire from bombarding clones.
- Grantador decided to be tough on crime by taking on the immortal syndicate and crushing the Mastermind in an ilevel 83 zone.
- The Eater of Worlds may be able to decimate entire planets but stood absolutely no chance against Avengi who struck with a vengeance to destroy this eldritch horror.
RIP Clips
During day 5 of the Misery Gauntlet the RIP clips include some notable names from the leaderboard.
- Darkbicin's hobby is death and Doedre was perfectly capable of supporting that hobby. This is a reminder that some of the most dangerous bosses in Path of Exile become truly terrifying monsters during the Gauntlet.
- DrDexxer was making solid progress clearing foes. Unfortunately, Mana Siphoner is extremely lethal at a specific range which resulted in a quick trip back to the beach.
- MF Gone wrong, gone wild, gone... clickbait? That's this death in a nutshell. The Stygian spire provided lots of monsters with additional projectiles to shotgun poor Woodland Joe.
Big Events
There have been a few major events during day 5 including lucky drops, bricking the league and close calls.
- Magic Finding Cemetery is great for finding valuable uniques like Lightning Coil. Nick had a stroke of luck and found something a little better, the subtle hand of fate was surely at work reflecting his efforts in the gauntlet thus far.
- Alkaizer attempted to harvest craft his Axe with more Speed. This is very likely to give you the increased attack speed (local) suffix and additional empty suffixes. There's a small chance to brick the item and from there your only hope is a YOLO Orb of Annulment.
- While in the Domain of Timeless Conflict, RaizQT lost a few years of his life after a close encounter of the chilly kind. Queen Hyrri Ngamaku came a bit too close for comfort bringing a significant amount of damage to boot.
